A MESSAGE FROM OUR VP OF PROGRAMMING...
Hello! My name is Brie Pugliese and I am proud to be DPhiE's Vice President of Programming. Philanthropy is at the heart of who we are as a chapter. It’s how we live out our values of compassion, service, and sisterhood. Through our philanthropic efforts, especially in support of our three causes that deeply resonate with our members, we come together to raise awareness, give back, and support individuals and families who need it most. Philanthropy allows us to turn our shared experiences and empathy into action, strengthening not only our chapter but also the greater community around us.
Roll Deeph,
Brie Pugliese
The National Association for Anorexia Nervosa & Associated Disorders (ANAD)
Launched in 1976 by Vivian Meehan, ANAD is the oldest easting disorder awareness organization in the United States. As the first international sorority to pledge regular support to ANAD, Delta Phi Epsilon began its commitment and formal affiliation with the organization in 1985. Our organization has always placed great importance on individuality and valuing someone for who they are, not what they look like. Sisters of Delta Phi Epsilon educate, advocate, and raise funds for ANAD every year. We are ambassadors for healthy attitudes, bodies and behaviors on campus and within the community.
OUR EVENTS
Spring ANAD Week - A week of tablings and activities to educate and raise funds
ANAD Candlelight Vigil - Campus-wide vigil with personal testimonies to raise awareness, honoring those who have faced hardship and loss as a result of eating disorders
ANAD Auction - Family and friends are invited to participate in a catered annual auction, typically raising ~$7,000 in donations
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. It was virtually unknown to the general population until 1955. when a group of parents formed the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). It’s mission is to be driving force in finding a cure. Phyllis Kossoff, Delta Chapter at Hunter College was instrumental in founding the CFF and came to our convention in 1957 to share her endeavors in an emotional presentation. As a result, DPhiE designated CFF as our philanthropy, and sisters from every chapter have supported their mission from that day on. Today, DPhiE has donated more than $1 million to research in the pursuit of curing cystic fibrosis and remains CFF's largest private donor.
