The way I serve my community
This project was carried out to improve the lives of residents in the most heat vulnerable areas by recruiting volunteers to collect data, create a heat map, and identify those locations. This project investigated the impact of environmental changes, specifically examining the regional variation of heat-related issues driven by the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. To do so, I
Gathered over 50 community volunteers to take part of campaign and Supervised volunteers during campaign to ensure correct and effective data collection
Analyze surface temps with ArcGIS, Collaborated with team members to incorporate the collected data into city policies and drive local impact
Hosted community events for 130+ attendees including Extreme Heat Summit
Tabling to inform people about how dangerous heat is to health and how important cooling solutions will be in the future
Was featured by the Stanford Daily and CBS Bay area. Links to coverage: Stanford Daily CBS Bay area
I joined the Valley water youth commission by being appointed by one of board members. It is an official board advisory committee that assists the board with education, outreach and other matters impacting Santa Clara County youth.
Represent 50K youth in District 7 of Santa Clara County, encompassing cities of Palo Alto, Mountainview, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, a part of South San Jose
Communicate with board members. Educate public on benefit programs
As the Proposer and Leader of this community outreach project, I initiated and managed efforts to address the intersection of homelessness, public health, and environmental preservation along local waterways.
Mobilized Resources & Direct Aid: Successfully raised over $2,000 in donations to assemble and distribute hygiene kits to over 100 unhoused youth, directly improving sanitation and personal well-being.
Environmental Action & Policy Outreach: Identified a critical gap where unhoused residents near creeks were unaware of free city trash collection services designed for them.
Developed and implemented an outreach program to inform unhoused individuals about the existing safe and clean trash disposal systems along Valley Water managed creeks.
This initiative directly contributed to minimizing trash pollution in the waters by diverting waste from the creek into the proper municipal disposal system.
Systemic Improvement: The core of the project was to bridge the information gap, ensuring that the existing public services (free trash disposal) reached the vulnerable population (creek-side unhoused residents) for whom the service was intended. This addresses both social equity and environmental protection
