Music Finder Database (MFD) records provide an easy way to quickly select the style and tempo and, perhaps, a beginning, for songs. Unfortunately, the "songs" provided in the preset music finder database records do not give the actual song name, but a variation of it, perhaps to protect Yamaha from copyright suits.

Music Genres. Some players may find the abreviations for styles of music that I have included in the keyword field useful. In my many years of teaching, I discovered that most people don't know what genre of music a specific tune is and, therefore, what style to play with it. My relatively easy method of labelling the styles may be a lot easier than what I would imagine most people may be used to.

Tempos. Tempos used in Ballroom dancing are probably different than the tempos that most players would have ever imagined. Since the tempos I use vary according to whether I'm playing a concert, sing-a-long, listening music, etc, I would suggest adusting according to your needs by feel or by going to your favoite search engine and type in the words Ballroom Tempo.

If the user can see the screen, a song can be selected by pressing the music finder button then using the A to J buttons on the T3's screen, or by using the data entry dial and pressing enter to select the song. The keyboard will be set up automatically ready to play the chosen song. For blind users this isn't so convenient, especially if the song you want to select is number 1,501.

This document contains the current standard music finder catalogue as installed on the T3, but with the titles written in full instead of the original cryptic titles that are seen on the T3 using the default catalogue supplied by Yamaha on the T3 when it was purchased.

A separate document will be available shortly, giving details of how to upload the file containing this information to the T3, thus providing the full titles instead of the cryptic ones on the T3's music finder screens.

We provide a first page preview of each song so you can confirm that the sheet music you are viewing is the song you wish to purchase. Once you buy a song you will be able to view, customize, play back and print every page of that song. The page count displayed in the product details pane tells you how many pages are included in the full song.

If you have already installed the Scorch plug-in but receive this message when trying to view certain sheet music arrangements, you will need to upgrade to a newer version of Scorch. The most current version can be downloaded here.

Transpositions are not maintained once you navigate away from the interactive Scorch window. Changes are made solely within the Scorch software and each Scorch file is read-only, your changes will be discarded once you close the interactive Scorch window. If you transpose a piece in the preview window on the product page then decide to buy that song, you must redo your transposition before printing the sheet music.

Some Printable Sheet Music products do not include the transposition feature. If a piece of music can be transposed, it will have a transpose icon in the Scorch toolbar. If the icon does not appear, then the music cannot be transposed.

Yes, once a Premium Pack or Voice has been purchased, it can only be used with one Tyros3 or Tyros4. If you wish to purchase for more than one Tyros3 or Tyros4, you will also need to create an additional yamahamusicsoft.com account for each additional Tyros3 or Tyros4.

You can switch between Swing and Even feel notation entry by setting the 'Resolution' to either 3 or 4 in the Notation Window Options dialog. For eighth note triplets, enter a note on three consecutive dotted lines. For quarter note triplets, enter a note on every second dotted line. Note that while your music will always *play* the way you input it, you may not always be able to get triplets to *display* exactly how you want.

The numbers in the style editor have to do with what is referred to as weight, or percentage / randomness of time that this pattern will be played from 1 to 8. If it has a weight of 9, it will always get played if the mask criteria are satisfied. Band-in-a-Box uses these patterns to generate musical arrangements. Band-in-a-Box houses 1 and 2 bar patterns and 1 and 2 beat patterns in a style on an instrument-by-instrument and sub-style basis. How often each pattern will get played will be determined first by the number of chords in a bar then by the 1 - 9 value. A 2 bar pattern gets played if there is only 1 chord at the beginning of 2 bars. A 1 beat pattern is chosen if there are more than 2 chords close together in a given bar.

At one time, no synthesizer had more than 128 sounds. As technology progressed, musicians demanded more sounds. The MIDI Association then developed a new MIDI command called the Bank Select Command. There are two controller messages in the Bank Select command:

We suggest you use 4/4 for that song. Bluegras1.STY is a 4/4 style, and Bluegrass music is in general 4/4. Almost any 2/4 song can be done in 4/4 and sound the same. (for example, Ragtime works as well in 2/4 as 4/4). The quality of the arrangement you get out of Band-in-a-Box will be way better, as will the solos it generates. If this song must use 2/4, just press F5 at bar 1, and type '2' beside '# beats per bar'. You'll see a little red square around the bar numbers after exiting to indicate that you've successfully changed settings at those bars. You could also use Edit | Set Time Sig of scrap (after highlighting the bars in your song).

The key transpose box on the main screen of Band-in-a-Box sets MIDI music you hear and the Notation key for viewing and printing at the same time. The 'Transpose' setting in the Notation Window Options dialog affects only the viewable and printable notes, while leaving the MIDI playback in the original key. This allows you to view proper notation for non-concert instruments, such as a tenor sax. Open the Notation Window and press the [OPT] button to open the Notation Window Options dialog. Beside 'Transpose', type in the number of semitones that you want the notation to be transposed. For example, if you have a trumpet, set it to +2. 006ab0faaa
