I installed all my favourite Firefox extensions including Video downloadhelper DownloadHelper - Media download Firefox extension

an extension that can download videos from Youtube and other video sites.

I do, however, find that is is a fussy extension. and is dependent on what is going on in other tabs. For example, if I have Facebook open in one tab, and youtube in another, I will not be able to capture youtube video until I close Firefox and restart it. This was also true under 11.2.

Back in May of this year I reported a bug to Malwarebytes by email about the Malwarebytes For Chrome browser extension conflicting with the Video DownloadHelper extension for Chrome, and this bug was confirmed by Malwarebytes after I reported it by email months ago.

I would like to report a possible bug with the Malwarebytes For Chrome browser extension (previous version and current version) where it seems to conflict with the Video DownloadHelper extension for Chrome ( -downloadhelper/lmjnegcaeklhafolokijcfjliaokphfk) so when you click to download a video with that extension the name in the Save As Box will be random numbers (example: 348546) instead of the name (example: Flying Cat Video) that is displayed in that extension before you click to save the video.

When I disable Malwarebytes For Chrome this problem goes away, but if I have it enabled then the problem returns so I either have to keep manually entering the title every time I want to save a video or I have to disable the Malwarebytes extension.

This problem is pretty annoying for me and has prevented me from using the Malwarebytes extension for long, I have to keep disabling it, and so I usually give up using it until the next version comes out hoping that it will be fixed.

Just a thought. I have had the browser extension on both Chrome and Firefox (quantum 64 bit) for a good while. All was well until the most recent update of Firefox (64.0). Since then Firefox will not close properly - and it also seems to worry over downloading (downloads not completing).

However, having tried a host of things. Removing the Malwarebytes Browser Extension seems to have fixed the problem. Though I would dearly liek to have the browser extension back doing its sentry duty.

I may have got a lucky download without the Malwarebytes Extension... without it stuff is going awry. I have been just been browsing around the internet. I seem to have an automatic update of several programs and extensions. I have spent some time going through each adding and taking away. I have it seems run into the problem - I uninstalled the extension and reinstalled the previous version. (This was the simple Remembear password manager).

@rakeshsejwal Hello, I am talking about a bug / conflict that only happens when I have the Malwarebytes Browser Extension installed when trying to download files (videos) with the Video DownloadHelper Extension, when there is a video that can be downloaded on a page by that extension it will list the name and you can download the video.

Malwarebytes Browser Guard could be the best security extension in my opinion if: this problem gets fixed, if the ad-blocking was improved to the level of Ublock Origin (maybe you could fork it into your extension since it is open source) or Brave Browser's built-in ad-blocking (maybe you could fork this as well because they may also be using an open source approach) or Adguard (which Avira uses in their extension), and if there was a way to submit suspicious websites & false positives from the extension itself (like you can with Emsisoft Browser Security & web browsers like Microsoft Edge).

Did a clean install of Mojave on my MacBook Pro, installed Waterfox as I use it mainly for video downloads and have been using Video DownloadHelper extension (I hate that companion app thing) for nearly a year with no issues.

I remember using this extension years ago, and it worked perfectly when no other extension could even find the videos in the first place. I just downloaded it again to try and dl my lecture videos, but it now requires you to download some spammy "app" which, according to a quick google, is crappy adware that is difficult to remove. I don't want to risk my chances downloading anything sketchy, so I'd prefer an alternative. Problem is, none of the top video downloading extensions even recognize my lecture videos in the first place.

The AUR package uses the programs that are already installed in the system (ffmpeg video and audio converters) while the coapp supplied by the extensions web page brings their own set of tools with them.

I also have the same problem ui vision is incompatible with various browser extensions in my case firefox because it detects that it controls the proxy going to conflict with other extensions for example with Urban vpn and also Video DownloadHelper and other proxy and vpn extensions

Waiting for a response from @admin

This bug is caused by the fact that ui vision controls the proxy function and the addons detect that the proxy is already controlled by another extension and they conflict. This bug also happens with Video DownloadHelper video downloader extension reporting a conflict with ui vision (firefox version)

This answer is not a duplicate of something already answered, since i'm asking specifically for regarding downloadhelper firefox extension, and a mysterious problem of audio only, specific to this clip.

Video DownloadHelper is an extension for the Firefox web browser and Chrome web browser. It allows the user to download videos from sites that stream videos through HTTP. The extension was developed by Michel Gutierrez.

As of December 2019[update], Video DownloadHelper is the third most popular extension for Firefox[4] (after Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin) and the second most popular Mozilla-recommended extension[5] with 2,848,968 users.

Firefox Quantum ceased support for extensions that use XUL or the Add-ons SDK[6] so the extension was rebased using WebExtensions APIs. As a result of Mozilla's changes, reliance upon the companion application increased. Firefox 57.0 and Video DownloadHelper 7.0.0 were released on the same day (14 November 2017). The most recent release (7.3.7, 26 Jun 2019) addresses problems that were caused by changes to YouTube.[7]

Eric Griffith of PC Magazine named it one of the best Firefox extensions of 2012.[11] Erez Zukerman of PC World rated it 4/5 stars and called it "a valuable tool".[12] TechRadar rated it 5/5 stars and wrote, "Anyone who wants to watch videos, not only online, but also on the train, in the car or on the plane, is very well served with Video DownloadHelper."[13]

Hi @Toni and @vknow360 Sunny, I have finally gotten the application to work, inspired by Toni blocks. Sunny's Customwebview and FileTools extensions should be used (thanks again for your great work). The storage permissions must be given manually...

Vithos all that information is 2 years old. You should find it at the extension store for your browser. It's an addon. It's at version 7.40 @ the firefox addon store.

It's a sucky addon--works 50% of the time. For the other 50% it insists you download the "companion app" to this extension. I agree with algent: youtube-dl works*. When it doesn't work I activate this extension. Again, if it works.

*youtube-dl does not download if the filename is too long and I have no idea how to get around that.

I couldn't install just for user. In terminal, it stated it was ready but it was nor working nor showing up as installed when I looked at the extensions preferences. I could do a system-wide install, but I had to create a /usr/local director. It works, but I'd hoped it would have been user-wide instead.

Native messaging support is being added to the firefox snap. Can you test that extension with the snap in the beta channel? See Call for testing: native messaging support in the Firefox snap for instructions, and please share your observations there. Thanks!

I'm posting this here because the support site for this extension won't work for me from within TorBrowser - and as a warning for anyone else who might be as stupid as me to try using extensions within TorBrowser.

This extension ignores TorBrowser's "Never remember history" default setting. I recently used it to download a few YouTube videos, and several days later, when I next used TorBrowser, I found that all the videos I had downloaded in the previous session were listed in TorBrowser's history. Is there any remedy to fix this problem?

Generally extentions and addons may have an undesirable consequences if added to Tor Browser. Sometimes the undesirable consequences are observable (at least it can be seen and thus, the user can decide to undo the extensions and/or addons if she desires to do so) and sometimes the undesirable consequences are not readily observable (in this case the user may use the extensions and/or addons for a long time without realization of what is happening). This last case is particularly harmful. In the end, There are so many extensions and addons and so many things may go wrong that no amount of reasonable time and energy may sort them out. Thus, it is advisable not to use any extension or addon with Tor Browser beyond what is already added by Tor Browser crew. By the way, I have tried the support site: :8080/ and it does not work for me either.

I give up! I already tried everything and nothing XD.

As you can see in the image, my problem is that when pressing the long click that window appears ... and I don't know with what function of the extension to display this window ... try to print the content of "type", "item", etc,(in labels) but it doesn't show me any url ... I just know that the type is 5.

First, place a notification in the "whenLongClicked" event in which to display all 4 returned properties. You will see if objects on the page respond to the long click and what is returned. Then if with a long click everything is alright, you will have to use another extension to display the custom notification you showed. e24fc04721
