This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Downloader application ("App") on Android TV and compatible Android devices. By using the App, you agree to this policy.
1. SUMMARY
Downloader is a file download utility. It does not require you to create an account in the App. The App does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting SDKs that send usage data to us.
Most information stays on your device. Network activity occurs when you download files, browse the web in the App, use QR pairing, or when optional features (such as voice search) use system or third-party services.
2. INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
The following data is stored locally on your device to operate the App:
- Download history: URLs you have downloaded and completion timestamps; shown in History and used to re-queue downloads.- Favorites: Names and URLs you save in Settings.- Short codes: Number-to-URL mappings you define (e.g. 123 to a web address).- App settings: Download folder, browser home page, JavaScript and theme options, QR backend URL, onboarding state, and similar preferences.- Downloaded files: Files saved to the folder you choose.- Browser data: Cookies, cache, and site storage from the in-app browser (until you clear browser data in Settings).
This local data is not uploaded to our servers by the App. If Android backup is enabled on your device, the operating system or your Google account backup may copy app data according to your device settings; that process is controlled by Android, not by us.
When you uninstall the App, local app data (history, favorites, short codes, settings) is removed from the device. Downloaded files in your chosen folder are not automatically deleted unless you delete them yourself.
3. INFORMATION SENT OVER THE INTERNET
3.1 Downloads you start
When you enter or receive a download link, the App connects to the URL you provide (http:// or https://) to fetch the file. Those servers see your IP address and standard request data, as with any browser or download tool. We do not choose or control those third-party servers.
3.2 QR Download pairing (optional)
If you use QR Download, the App communicates with a QR bridge backend over HTTPS (the default service URL is shown in Settings and can be changed by you). That service is used to:
- Create a pairing session and QR code on your TV- Complete pairing from your phone's browser- Deliver download job URLs from the paired session to your TV
Data involved typically includes session identifiers, pairing codes, and download URLs you or your phone submit. We operate or configure this backend to provide pairing and job delivery; we do not use it for advertising or selling personal data.
3.3 In-app browser
Pages you open in the browser may load content from any website you visit. Those websites may collect data under their own privacy policies (cookies, IP address, etc.). We do not control third-party websites.
3.4 Voice search (optional)
If you use voice search in the browser, the App may use the device microphone and the speech recognition service installed on your device (for example Google's speech services). Audio and transcription are handled by that service under its provider's terms and privacy policy, not by our own servers.
3.5 Email reports (optional)
If you tap "Report a link or concern" in Settings, your email app opens with our support address. We only receive information you choose to send in that email.
4. PERMISSIONS AND WHY THEY ARE USED
- Internet: Download files; load web pages; QR pairing backend communication.- Storage / all-files access (where required): Save downloads to your chosen folder on Android 10+.- Install packages: Open downloaded APK files with the system package installer when you choose to install them.- Notifications: Show download progress while files download in the background.- Microphone: Optional voice search in the browser only, when you start it.- Foreground service: Continue active downloads reliably in the background.
Permissions are used only for these features. The App does not use them for ads or analytics.
5. WHAT WE DO NOT DO
- We do not require login or a Downloader account.- We do not sell your personal information.- We do not embed third-party advertising or analytics trackers in the App.- We do not remotely access files on your device beyond the network flows described above (downloads, QR backend, websites you visit).
6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising use of the device and for content downloaded or sites visited.
7. SECURITY
Data stored on your device depends on your device security (screen lock, physical access, etc.). Use HTTPS sources where possible, keep your device updated, and only download content you are permitted to access.
8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy. Material changes may also be noted in the store listing or in the App where appropriate.
