We have yet to see any artiste blow up this quickly in recent times. Asake’s run has been nothing short of impeccable. Since he popped up, Asake has scored six number one hit singles on Apple Music Top 100 Nigeria chart. His latest charting song, which he was featured on, is Fireboy’s Bandana, which comes from Fireboy’s upcoming album, Playboy.

Looking at Fireboy DML’s career, the singer released his debut album, LTG (Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps), in 2019, it was distributed under YBNL. That was before YBNL and Empire joined forces. In 2020, after the partnership, Fireboy DML’s sophomore album, Apollo, was distributed under the canopy of both parties (YBNL/Empire). On Apollo, you could hear Fireboy’s attempt at appealing to foreign markets. He even got a feature with rapper, D-Smoke (who happens to be one of the artists on Empire’s roster).

Olamide had a lot riding on him and he set out to prove himself after parting ways with ID Cabasa's Coded Tunez, he set up his label he calls Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL), and under the imprint, he released an album of the same name on November 12, 2022. And the rest, as they say, is history.

The album showcased his rap credentials as he delivered timeless rap records such as the swaggering 'Voice of the Street', 'Ilefo Illuminati', and 'Emotional Blackmail' feat Kida Kudz. Olamide displayed his penmanship and ability to convey his thoughts smoothly and relatably while effortlessly switching between Yoruba, English, and Pidgin.

While he gained mainstream attention and some level of success with his debut album, 'YBNL' was his ascension into superstar status that earned him a cult followership that will ride for him come rain or shine. The album also set him on the path of becoming Afrobeats' most reliable hitmaker a status he shares with perhaps only Davido.

"YBNL MaFia Family" is a collaborative album released in 2018 by Nigerian label YBNL Nation. Featuring artists signed to the label, including record boss Olamide, the album merges Afrobeat, hip-hop, and street-pop, garnering praise for its vibrant production, catchy hooks, and collective synergy in showcasing YBNL Nation's musical influence.

Olamide has etched his name in bold letters and secured a golden legacy with his contributions spanning over a remarkable decade. The resounding echoes of his impact continue to reverberate as the YBNL label boss, Olamide, emerges from the shadows to unveil his long-awaited 10th album and 11th solo project, aptly titled Unruly.

Diving into Unruly, it becomes evident that Olamide has strategically enlisted some of the hottest luminaries from Nigerian music. The album showcases captivating collaborations with his protgs from the record label stable, Fireboy DML and Asake. Additionally, the album boasts noteworthy joint ventures with the likes of Rema, Mavin's leading superstar, as well as the Afrobeats sensations Ckay and BNXN, formerly known as Buju.

Earlier in the year Olamide teases his project by unveiling two tracks from the forthcoming album back in April. One of these tracks, "Trumpet," features Ckay, delving into Olamide's personal odyssey, exploring themes of his relentless hustle, extravagant lifestyle, opulence, and profound connection with his roots. On the other hand, "New Religion," featuring Asake, delves into the realms of faith and introspection, inviting listeners to a contemplative exploration.

He talked about the album making process and dynamics, and dealing with criticisms in the industry from fans, and revealed who his music influences are and which international acts he would love to collaborate with, amongst other entertaining tidbits.

The singer came into music limelight upon the release of his single Sade, which received massive airplays on radio. He has released a couple of singles in build up to the album which have all been well received, including Ready, Pick up amongst others that are expected to make it to the album.

At some point, it was looking like the rapper who has seven studio albums to his name will not be releasing any project this year, making it the first time since he went professional, but this will be another addition to his solid discography and one that will serve to usher his latest additions fully into the industry ahead of the coming year. 2351a5e196
