Download _VERIFIED_ Xampp For Linux Mint

In my previous tutorial which was about installing LAMP on Linuxmint many people commented that they liked the tutorial but they use Xampp . So this time I tried it too, and found that it's a really good software package.

Hi i am new in mint Linux and i would like to ask on how to start my php project in Linux mint.I have installed netbeans and Xampp. It's quite different from windows. i can't get htdocs folder?. I tried the following

But mint Linux how i get a path like /home/user/NetBeansProjects/PhpProject1. I can't get htdocs folder. But using localhost i can't run my project.I don't know whether it's the actual way or not.Please help me.

you need to execute the file (e.g. open a terminal, navigate to your Downloads folder and run bash xampp-linux-x64-1.8.3-0-installer.run (possibly it might need to be run otherwise, but thats my best guess)).

what you can do is that you can use the chmod +x /your folder location/.run file that you want to install after that you can run following command ./and your .run file name example:-in my case :- User@user~$su root it will ask for password so give it User@user~chmod +x /Downloads/xampp-linux-x64-1.8.3-0-installer.run User@user~./xampp-linux-x64-1.8.3-0-installer.run

How to start app in terminal in background? I want to start Xampp gui app starting like "sudo /opt/lampp/manager-linux-x64.run". App will be opened and terminal is waiting on the next row. Is it possible runnign app and use same terminal? THX

What's wrong is that you're using xampp. Don't do that, just use the apache/mysql/whatever packages provided by Ubuntu, there's absolutely no need to use xampp on any modern linux distro. So remove xampp and your problems will go away. And as a side benefit you also get security updates so your server doesn't get compromised within a week.

To completely uninstall XAMPP from your Linux computer, you just need to run the following command. It is all about to remove lampp directory. Because all of your xampp contents are located inside it.

After the successful installation, the wizard will display the completion status. Click finish and application will be launched. if you don' t want to launch xampp after installation, untick the launch xampp tick box and click on finish.

the xampp application is launched now which will look similar to the image below

To manage services goto manage servers tab, where you will see the status of the servers running and servers available on xampp

you can even access the Xampp application from your browser by using your Ipaddress or domain name, but after installing the web browser and also desktop application opens by default.
