CI is a "nice to have" IMHO, but not a "have to have". I think it's worth the $100 but if you've got to cut a feature, using steel wings is the lesser of two evils as opposed to a lesser fence or cruder trunnion design, and makes little to no difference in performance. You can always add one or both CI wings later, and maybe add some sort of laminate extension in place of one wing. You may regret not getting them, maybe not...it's probably cheaper to get both now than later, so ask yourself if you will still be missing the additional $100 six months from now. b/c you'll definitely still be enjoying the CI if you go that route!

I think that MindBreaker is right, especially when you take into context Icarus II, which is clearly a song about the feelings of a pilot in a war, who loves flying but not the war... He grows to wish he was home, in his bed. I think that Icarus Borne on wings of steel, is about his past, where he learned to fly and loved it.

I think this song and Icarus II are two parts of a story. The definition of borne is technically not birth, but being concieved by other means. He was not literally borne of wings of steel, but he feels that way because flying makes him feel so free. Obviously, if he were flying and lost his wings, he'd die, but in another sense, if he lost his plane or means of flying, he'd die of the feeling of being lost. Icarus II Is where he is drafted into the airforce to fight in a war. He wishes he were back home, but cant go back, because he must focus on his task that was set for him. He ends up getting shot down while trying to help his friends escape. He sacrifices himself for them.

Stamping tips.

*Tape down what your stamping with blue painters tape onto your steel block.

*stamp on a larger steel block.

*mark my stamps with a sharpie at the 6 o'clock on the design to guide you on alignment.

* take your time and make sure the stamp is not tilted in relation to the block.

* Before striking the stamp, gently rock the stamp on the steel block while pressing down to find the seat.

* Once it's seated, press firmly and strike.

* be sure your hammer strike is strictly a vertical motion. Angled strikes will not result in a good impression.

*All this is done in a matter of seconds. It definitely takes practice.

I generally use a 8 oz hammer.

Design stamps don't stamp the same as letter stamps. More care has to be taken to get a consistent result.

My Steel cut wings are designed to be beautiful and strong. I use 20 gauge steel to make the wing frames, this makes the frames flexible enough for posing while still being very durable! The wing frames are laminated on each side with vinyl for added durability, and iridescent film gives the wings that beautiful fairy shimmer! My steel cut fairy wings are very light and comfortable to wear. Each set of wings have a U-shaped harness that can slipped into the back of your costume and secured in many different ways depending on your preference(a belt, corset, etc.) Please feel free to message me with any questions that you may have!Because my wings are hand grown, some may have small bubbles and imperfections. This is sometimes the nature of creating by hand and won't affect the overall look of your wings.
