Hey all. Not sure where to post this. I'm setting up a lab and it involves a PC node, in which I have a windows 10 image. I got it up and running but it is ridiculously slow. No settings tweaks that I have done have sped things up. I have so far allocated two CPU's along with 8 GB of RAM and it crawls. For example, I did a simple 'ipconfig' in the command terminal and the output was as if someone was typing it out manually, letter by letter.

9. IMPORTANT: When windows installation asks you to choose an HDD where Windows will be installed, choose Load driver, Browse, choose FDD B/storage/2003R2/AMD64 or x86, (AMD or x86 depends which version of windows you are installing 64 or 32 bit), click next and you will see HDD RedHat VIRTIO SCSI HDD now.

11. Optional: if you would like to use this image with the EVE RDP console, then you have to allow RDP on this Windows machine and create a user and password. In this example, we use user/Test123. Be sure that in the Windows Firewall the Remote Access inbound rules are permitted for Public access.

IMPORTANT: for compressing an image you must have sufficient free space on your EVE host, the free space must exceed the total space (60GByte in this example) of the HDD you plan to shrink. The space needed can vary but will be the total space of the disk to be shrunk plus the size of the final sparsified and compressed image. To be safe you should have double the size of the HDD you want to shrink as free space on your EVE host. In our example we needed 65Gb of free HDD space. Once this process is done, the temporary file(s) will be deleted and free space reclaimed.

Setup:Dell PowerEdge R620 128GB Ram 12 Core server.Vmware ESXI 6.5 Based setup: 1 VM for EVE-NG: 500GB SSD + 32 GB allocated RAM.2nd VM for Windows Server 2016: 100GB HDD + 16 GB RAM.On Windows client, I can access the EVE-NG via Firefox and Putty. I have tried cisco Dynamips images and nodes are starting (I can telnet with putty and change config)

This Windows 7 image is a converted image for eve-ng. You just have to download the Windows 7 image for eve-ng and upload it to the eve-ng win7 folder. After that just fix the permission and you are ready to go.

The issue I am facing is in using the network devices on VM (EVE-NG). I have to use security devices (Cisco FWs and Palo Alto) images on EVE-NG for study purposes. These are loaded to /opt/unetlab/addons/qemu/. But these are not getting started.

False for me, a look around suggest to use SCVMM in order to convert vmx to use the poor HYPER V, the problem is still here cause of defender. my Host OS windows 11 family, maybe vmware could do an update of VMWARE WORK PRO 16.2.4 ?

EVE-NG is an innovative and powerful network simulation platform that provides a practical environment for network engineers to practice and prepare for certifications such as CCIE, CCNA, and CCNP.

These images provide you with a wide range of lab scenarios and configurations, allowing your to gain hands-on experience in a virtual environment that closely replicates real-world networking scenarios.

EVE-NG LABs Full Pack images are a valuable resource when it comes to practicing for CCIE Lab exams, as well as for CCNA and CCNP certifications.

Whether you are studying for CCIE, CCNA, or CCNP, having access to these full pack images can greatly enhance your learning experience. Additionally, Dynamips offers workbooks that provide step-by-step guidance, allowing you to follow along and understand the concepts better. So, if you are looking to improve your networking skills and preparing for certification exams, EVE-NG LABs Full Pack images are definitely worth considering.

It can be frustrating when you realize that you are unable to determine the accuracy of the images you downloaded. Even after going through the process of acquiring the desired file, you eventually come to the conclusion that it is either an outdated version or cannot be installed at all. This experience highlights the importance of thorough research and double-checking before downloading any files, saving us from unnecessary hassle and wasted time.

The installation process can be quite complex and may pose difficulties when trying to install images. To overcome this issue, you can opt to download the full pack of eve-ng and proceed with installation on your system. Once installed, you can easily run network scenarios without any hassle.

After installing the images, you will have a critical challenge, including creating scenarios and connecting the nodes together. To create a scenario, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability to recognize the correctness of the scenario because the scenarios are drawn based on experience, and if this knowledge is not followed, your scenario cannot be implemented.

Otherwise, you will go in the wrong direction, and you will not be able to determine whether the scenario applies in the operational environment. The scenarios should be able to be implemented in the operational environment.

It is crucial to execute the steps correctly and understand how to properly use the required commands. Only by doing so can we ensure the desired outcome and effectively navigate through the given tasks.

We will guide you through each scenario in eve-ng full pack in a clear and detailed manner, ensuring that you understand each step thoroughly. By following our instructions, you will be able to execute the design seamlessly from start to finish.Otherwise, you will go in the wrong direction, and you will not be able to determine whether the scenario applies in the operational environment. The scenarios should be able to be implemented in the operational environment.

Thanks for the blog, I really appreciated your effort. I have managed to built my eve-ng lab. I have issue with accessing the nodes like windows or windows server that I have no access to view these nodes. how can I rdp or just view the windows to make further configuration into the server. could you please help to solve this issue. Thanks

Hi,

Does anyone have any tips on eve-ng in Azure AND using the eve-ng Cloud0 network to access external servers from within the eve-ng lab?

Suspect there is an Azure network config setting that we have missed.

We have worked this out. The standard approach to use the Cloud0 network and bridge does not work with Azure.

What does work for our use-case is to setup the eve-ng host machine with a 2nd IP address on the pnet0 interface and setup routing through the eve-ng host.

Once that is setup, the eve-ng nic (in Azure) needs to be set to routing and Azure a route resource setup and applied to our vnet.

Is there a list of images version for Eve-NG that I could refer to? For instance, I did not realize ISE 2.7 is not as stable as ISE 2.3 running in Eve-NG till I came across the discussion in this forum.

It could be able to start this vMX version in a tiny PC with 8GB RAM. Actually, I run it in a iMac core i5 8GB RAM and VMware fusion. My EVE VMware image was allocated 4GB RAM and the vMX image with 6 interfaces was allocated 4 CPU and 2GB RAM. At the beginning, I cannot start vMX. After workaround, I found that vMX can start if I have more than 20GB free disk space within EVE image.

Result : Ping between windows 7 and switch work correctly but when a activate 802.1x in wired card i dont receive any think in a switch console when a activate a debug command (like any information that send to switch).

After successful upload of the image and installation, the login does not work, neither in the GUI nor in the CLI. Unfortunately, no meaningful log appears either. Only the following error is displayed:

After it is installed, you load real device images, such as a Cisco CSR1000v or a Palo Alto firewall, which you can then connect to other devices and interact with it through native or web-based SSH/VNC/RDP sessions.

The issue is that Eve-ng is not recognizing AMD virtualization and it seems this is causing some issues loading some cisco images (VIOS) and even Windows images within Eve to run. I've confirmed that its active on BIOS.

Thanks for the instructions. All is working but I do have issues running both IOL and Qemu images at the same time. It actually crashes with a kernal message. All seems fine as long as I do not mix the two types and turn them on. Any Ideals? Not sure it is related to HyperV or not.

hi

i have a question

in eve scenario devices can communicate with outside environment?

for example we have tow vm on hyper_v

on one of them eve-ng and on the other windows server 2016

in eve-ng scenario we have router

can we see the router from windows server?(do they have ping each other?)

with respect

I'm using eve-ng a tool to emulate networking equipment. But I would like to put the Secure CRT as the Default terminal to open the application.

On the site itself there is a tutorial asking to insert the following line ( echo 'PATH="$HOME/bin:$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.profile). already able to perform in ubuntu but in Arch linux

I don't have the .profile file, I created it but without success. I would like to know if there is any way to accomplish this.

1st off all: what is "unsuccessful" how?

2nd: the comment has two changes (unfortunately w/o any context, because why post a diff if one can post an image of text )

3rd Why not go w/ the telinit shadow?

I'm using the Eve-NG Network application As shown in the image below, it has this ( -ng-integration) Linux Client integration pack to interact with it.

I installed the Linux Client integration pack according to the link above and I can open the equipment with roxterm according to the image link.

First stop is acquiring some images for ESXi. Of course it's possible to create your own QEMU image by installing from an official ESXi installation CD, but that's a lot of work. It's much easier to start with the Nested ESXi images by William Lam, who has done most of the work for us. You can grab images for ESXi5.5, ESXi6.0 and ESXi6.5 straight from vmware.com. 2351a5e196
