But times are very different now compared to 2021 when the Facebook parent announced its strategic pivot to the metaverse. The entire tech sector is reeling from mass layoffs. Companies that over-hired during the e-commerce boom during the pandemic are now facing a drop-off in demand.

The shift doesn't come at a great moment, however. Meta's revenues are still shrinking, and its pivot to the metaverse is costing billions of dollars at its Reality Labs unit. It recently slashed over 11,000 jobs to cut costs and weather a rough economy. While platforms like Facebook and Instagram continue to gain users, the company isn't as stable as it once was.

WhatsApp cannot access the content of user messages, but it said it shares user metadata with its parent company, Meta -- formerly Facebook -- and other Meta companies. The metadata it shares includes users' phone numbers, profile photos, activity statuses, send dates of WhatsApp messages and IP addresses used. In some cases, Meta also provides user metadata to authorities serving warrants and subpoenas, and it has surveilled users at the direction of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Meta CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg told employees of the struggling platform that WhatsApp business messaging services and Messenger will be driving the growth of the company for the foreseeable future, rather than the much-vaunted metaverse. He was trying to allay any concerns from remaining employees about the financial future of the company after it made the first mass layoffs in its history, letting 11,000 workers go.

During the recent internal staff forum Zuckerberg also highlighted the need to find revenue from the long-play investments. He told employees that 20% of the total Meta budget was spent on Reality Labs, the unit responsible for metaverse and half of its budget is spent on augmented reality and smart glasses.

The final website should have two choices on top: Forums and Chats. When user clicks on chat, all private messages should display just like they do on web.whatsapp.com. Is this possible? If yes, it could be best of both worlds of a forum+messenger.

In private messages, the topic will need to be hidden (it can auto populate from the message). The display of private messages should be as per first fixed characters. Like whatsapp displays the initial part of message. The listing of DMs need to be made really cool like whatsapp of telegram displays a list of chats.

I am open to use any other app for chat which allows customization of smileys and GIF. For forums we can use Discourse, for chat any messenger which allows SSO with Discourse and customization for community. The chat messenger should allow communication between my community users only.

In marketing, WhatsApp is an excellent channel of communication that allows you to engage directly with customers online, just like in physical stores. As the most popular global messenger app with approximately two billion monthly active users, it taps into consumer preference for a digital-first, always-on experience.

It is important to stress that non-gatekeeper service providers of messenger services are not obliged to implement interoperability, meaning they are free to choose either to benefit from such interoperability obligation that falls upon the gatekeeper, or to keep their service separate from the gatekeeper.

Meta AI is more than just a virtual assistant, and it is now going to start rolling out to users in the U.S. You will be able to interact with this AI across all the messenger apps that the company has. This means that the AI is going to work across Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Furthermore, Meta is working on releasing a sandbox for experimenting with AI creation, with plans to integrate this feature into the metaverse. This development is aimed at fostering realism, embodiment, and connectedness in the creation of AI, reflecting Meta's commitment to enhancing user experiences through innovative AI applications.

I am wondering if there is a way I can detect a skype call/telegram/whatsapp/fb messenger call etc in progress or incoming call etc just like the regular phone call with telephony manager/listener? I would like to have some kind of mechanism that detects an ongoing /incoming etc call from skype/telegram etc for my app. I came across this solution :Call Detection for skype in android but not sure if it'll work for all generic messenger apps. Is there a hack or any kind of listener I can implement on my side that allows me to detect these? Any ideas would be awesome. ff782bc1db
