I have attempted to install the WebEx Meeting Center plugin via vendor .pkg and also tried compiling a custom package via Composer. Neither method has resulted in a working WebEx plugin. Here are some additional details:

Has anyone found a way to look at which version of the plug-in is actually installed? The WebEx64.plugin shows version 1.0 in the Get Info window, but the actual installed version of the plugin is 27.32.5.14362 E. Any ideas?

From Safari I logged into webex.com with my account. I clicked on the Webex Meetings menu > Support > Downloads. I downloaded the Webex Meetings Desktop App which downloads a file name webexmc_intel.dmg. Inside that .dmg is WebEx Meeting Center.pkg. I opened that .pkg in Suspicious Package and the brainiacs install everything into /tmp/webex/ and then to quote them:

The example below shows what Webex Meetings looks like with the plugin disconnected. Note that in the top left it now only shows Webex rather than Webex VDI and the health checker shows that the virtual channel in not connected. This can be for many reasons including client/plugin version mismatch, lack of plugin installed locally or that the plugin is not enabled which is how we were able to recreate this scenario.

I just checked Safari/Preferences/Websites and the plugin is still there and enabled in Safari 12.1.1. I haven't needed to use the plugin lately, so I don't know if it works or not. The last time I used it was for a conference call from the ASC hosts.

Installed Webex plugin in "/Library/Internet\ Plugins" by copying and pasting from "~/Library/Internet\ Plugins"; subsequently, I have tried to start webex several times this morning and every time the Webex add-on is downloaded.

A new bit of information. Every time I run the installer, it installs to "~/Library/Application\ Support/WebEx\ Folder" and there is no change to "/Library/Internet\ Plugins" or "~/Library/Internet\ Plugins"!!! Now, I can't get Safari to start webex at all. Webex works fine in both Firefox and Chrome.

Seems the plugin isnt tricking the site in proper loading the video and has entered the slow buffer state. Its why desktop ones based on yt-dl work best as they do download at max speed and can multithread

The critical update is made available in version 1.0.3 of the WebEx extension for Chrome. Update: Since this post went live, Cisco has released version 1.0.5, which is said to offer an improved approach designed to protect users from the type of cross-site scripting exploits described above. The problem is - after logoff/logon, if you launch productivity tools, it only seems to remember your username. It makes you enter password and go thru first run wizard every time. Also unregisters the outlook plugin. I really think its related to that binary config file it references, it seems to create a new one on every logon and ignore the other settings in the registry. It's odd.

There doesn't seem to be a way to add cohost when you schedule an invite from the Outlook plugin, even though there is a section to add cohost under the resources tab for the meeting settings button in the Outlook ribbon, but it's GREYED out. In addition, for some reason you cannot add cohost on the portal for the same meeting that was originally created in Outlook. Please add this feature.

Connection reset by peer could just be your company firewall preventing you from making external connections.

It's been a couple years since I've been in the position of providing support for a vendor. However, when we did, we used WebEx. WebEx uses a Java or an Active-X control (depending on platform being run on). The Java component worked fairly well for Windows, OS-X, Linux and Solaris systems we had to provide support to. Unless something's changed with WebEx, since then, or there's an incompatibility in the Java version installed on the support-target, it should "just work". What version of the Java plugin do you have installed on your RHEL system?

After that video is not working due to openh264 plugin is not installed from mozilla servers. So I copied .mozilla/firefox/ylmu6z10.default-release/gmp-gmpopenh264 and .mozilla/firefox/ylmu6z10.default-release/gmp-widevinecdm from the Fedora 32 machine to the RHEL 8.2 to .mozilla/firefox/WHATEVER.default-release/.

A vulnerability in these Cisco WebEx browser extensions could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the affected browser on an affected system. This vulnerability affects the browser extensions for Cisco WebEx Meetings Server and Cisco WebEx Centers (Meeting Center, Event Center, Training Center, and Support Center) when they are running on Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability is a design defect in an application programing interface (API) response parser within the extension. An attacker that can convince an affected user to visit an attacker-controlled web page or follow an attacker-supplied link with an affected browser could exploit the vulnerability. If successful, the attacker could execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the affected browser.
