If text is selected when you press the keyboard shortcut, the selected text is spoken. Otherwise, available text items in the current window are spoken; for example, if Mail is the current window, an email message is read.

If you set the option to automatically show the controller, it appears onscreen when your Mac starts speaking. Use the controller to change the speaking rate, move forward or backward one sentence in the text, pause and resume speaking, or stop speaking.

The controller is especially useful when your Mac is reading long pieces of text. You can use the controller to pause, resume, or stop the speaking, change the speaking rate, and skip ahead or backward in the text.

I'm searching for a way to open Google Voice Typing (usually launched by long-clicking the space bar on Gboard or other similar soft keyboards), when a shortcut like win + v is pressed on a Bluetooth keyboard and I'm in a text editor like Markor.

I've already skimmed through some activities in the "app start" block, but didn't get very far. Also used the "interact" block to identify the activity when the Voice Typing window is opened. It showed that the package "com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox" is used, but I went through all activities of this package in the "app start" block, but couldn't summon the voice typing window.

Anytime your keyboard pulls up, you can dictate text instead of typing it in. It will save even more time and energy. Here's how to activate voice-to-text on Android so you can talk to write on your phone rather than type with it.

You'll get better results and feel more comfortable doing it. Google uses what it hears to improve its ability to recognize your voice. Google says they're anonymized immediately after processing. They use your voice only for enhancing their services; third parties never see them.

My phone recently updated to Android 12 and Gboard doesn't work well for me anymore. I switched to the Samsung Keyboard and there's a lot to like about it except for the "voice typing". It does get things somewhat accurate (I'm hoping it's learning and improving) and while it does input some punctuation, it always inputs the word "period" instead of the punctuation mark. Pretty frustrating to stop nearly every sentence to correct that.

We definitely have some setting differences. Under "General Management" (I don't have "System") I was able to find "Keyboard list and default" and under that I saw that Samsung Voice input was checked along with "Google voice typing", "Google Voice Typing (Legacy)" and "Gboard". Unchecking "Samsung voice input" now allows me to bring up Google voice typing when I long press the space bar without losing the Samsung keyboard. I bow to your superior knowledge.

I seem to missing the voice microphone from my input keyboard. I'm using the standard keyboard that comes with the phone. I have tried, and removed, a few third party keyboards but reverted back to the standard keyboard. The microphone icon that is supposed to be in the lower left next to the "?123" button is not there. Instead, I have the comma symbol. If I press and hold that down (because it does have the ... under it), I get the input options for the keyboard.

Hi ASkurnick!

Oh goodness, I'm so sorry to hear about the missing voice microphone icon from your keyboard. Good thing this VZW detective is on the case and ready to crack it. With that said, let's take a look.

First off, kudos on everything you've done thus far. Your troubleshooting tactics have been extremely in depth and perfect for the situation. The other thing I would try here is clearing out information about the messaging application. Simply go to settings > application manager > all > messaging > clear data and force stop. Then power cycle your phone and retest. Please keep us updated how this works as we may need to go further. Regardless, we'll get you set back up.

Another option to maybe try is in line with what the vzw rep said. Go to settings, app manager, select all at the top. See if you have anything that says keyboard, android keyboard or voice search/commands and try clearing the data/force stop. Hopefully that will work before resetting the phone.

I would like to open the keyboard programmatically and have it start doing voice recognition instantly without the user pressing the mic button. I know how to implement SpeechRecognizer - that is not what I'm looking for. I want to start the keyboard VR and text go straight to an editview. Is this possible?

But, yes. To answer your uestion the voicesearchactivity is exactly like long-pressing the keyboard, only it is for Google now, not keyboard input.Pretty sure what you want to do what you're looking for is AutoVoice.

> You did not mention if you are rooted?

> You need to tick the "use root" option in the shell command.

> If you are testing this with the play button you need a small wait in the task then go to any text box and tap it. The device needs to be in a open text box for this command to work as you want..

This seems to be a common problem, but I have yet to find a solution. I keep hoping that each new system update will correct this, yet it has not. The voice-to-text feature is missing, not hidden, from the keyboard. I have tried the following:

I use the mic ALL the time.......much faster than trying to type while walking, uses correct spellings, etc. The feature seems to come and go but I don't know why. I have been able to get mic back on occasion by tweaking with the Google Text-to-Speech setting or somewhere around in that area of settings. My mic missing right now and I'm HATING it. I won't even reply to my texts bc I can't just talk into phone and it be typed out for me. We've GOT TO GET THIS OPTION BACK! And have it much easier to access please.

I try to use KM to control speak selected text with different voice, but meet some issues :

1.how to detect selected text with KM?

2. how to detect selected text language (use first word of text to define the language),is it english or frenchthen I can use "if expression" to decide to use which voice to speak.

3. I find that not all the system voices choice in KM Speak list, for example the Voice "Susan" not on the KM Speak list .I don't know why.

Gboard, the keyboard app produced by Google, is one such keyboard that will record your speech in the form of text that you can then send to your contacts. Here's how to enable voice typing on Gboard.

1. Open the messaging app of your choice. For the purposes of this guide, we're using Facebook Messenger, but Gboard's voice typing should work with almost any messaging app out there.

why does my iphone 12 pro max types whatever i dictate when voice control is on. When i turn off voice control it works well. Please find me a solution so that i can use voice control as well as type efficiently without hassle.

The Speak Text action speaks text entered in the text area of the action. Use the arrow at the right of the text area to select variables, calculations, clipboards and other tokens to enter in the text area.

Speech Keyboard is the default method by which text may be entered into a text field using RealWear Navigator. When a text entry screen is brought into focus or selected, the hands-free keyboard is displayed overlaying part of the application.

I love the speech to text keyboard however my only gripe with it is that I can't seem to start sentences with a capital letter. Is there a way to correct this or is it a software error? My job would be so much more efficient if I could get it to use capital letters at the start of each sentence.

Try using the in-built dictation tool in your Windows computer to convert your spoken words into text on your Windows 10 Laptop / Desktop. Dictation uses speech recognition, which is built into Windows 10, so there's nothing you need to download or install to use it. It does require internet access though.

Stop getting frustrated by mobile typing. Your keyboard should understand you, not the other way around. Speechkeys makes mobile typing easy - so you can focus on your text and thoughts - and not on the keyboard.

Type unlimited at the speed of speech. Click the mic and start dictating. Unlike regular voice-typing - it will never cut you in the middle. You don't have to click again and again to restart it. We mean it - we're talking about whole assays - thousands of words - written in the speed of your speech. You can now voice-type while you're walking, driving or working around the house. Want to insert a mark, symbol, or emoji? Do it while in dictation mode - no need to stop - and go back. This way - you can dictate punctuation marks if you like - but you don't need to - you can insert with a single click if you prefer. The result is super fast, accurate and easy voice typing.

Text Hear - Hearing aid app, meant to assist hearing impaired in everyday conversations, by instantly converting natural speech to text and displaying it large and clear on the screen. So you can hear by seeing the speech in text.

I've chosen to use GBoard with network permissions disabled, and Faster Voice Typing enabled. This allows me to use speech recognition and a keyboard that is very smooth overall, without sending telemetry back to Google.

Firefox Focus requests the incognito mode for the GBoard (Google Keyboard). The incognito mode for that keyboard disables voice typing. Firefox Focus does not get to control what features the keyboard displays. ff782bc1db
