You mentioned that Voice Memos wasn't set to sync to iCloud. If you do choose to sync it from Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Voice Memos, the voice memos on your iPad will appear on your Mac without having to do anything as long as both devices are using the same Apple ID. More info on that can be found in See your recordings on all your Apple devices.

There are a few other ways to move that information from one device to another, but as you mentioned, they involve moving the items one at a time through features like Share Sheet utilizing email or iCloud Drive or by using AirDrop. If this is a feature you'd like to see added in a future release, be sure to leave Product Feedback here.

Download Voice Memos From Ipad

I have attempted the following instructions but at step 5 there is no voice memo option available. I have also checked under my iCloud account and there is no voice memo option available. I need some urgent advise how I can transfer my voice memo from my iPad to my apple desktop as my work will take back my iPad tomorrow morning.

If you want to move multiple or all voice memos to your PC or Mac, then iTunes is a good option. First, make sure you've downloaded the latest version of iTunes on your computer, and then follow the steps below to start the transferring process.

However, now that I have deleted it from the screen, with the message prompted saying that any memo synced to the cloud would remain there, I see that the space is still taken up. I assume I have to hit "delete app" from the storage part of settings, but the warning message reads something like "doing this will delete all the data associated to this iPad. This is irreversible" (I'm translating cause my iPad is set to French). However, I am not sure if deleting the app of my iPad will definitely keep all my memos over on my iPhone, and, most importantly, on the iCloud server, because I do not want to lose everything, so I thought I would check before risking to make a big mistake.

If the app appears like it has been offloaded once I click on it to see why it is still using 38.41 GB (despite, once again, me having deleted it as linked here: Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support; which should have deleted all its data) the app shows as if 1) it was not offloaded and 2) there is still a "Delete App" option

And if I click on "Delete App" a warning message appears (see screenshot below) telling me it will delete all the documents and data and I just want to be sure that doing this will not mean that the data will be gone from iCloud.

It looks like there is confusion here between the Voice memos app and the Voice Memos app data(the actual recordings). When you delete apps from one device, it will never be deleted from another device. With that being said, deleting the Voice Memos app from your iPad will not delete it from your other Apple devices.

That means, if you would like to remove your voice memo recordings from your iPad, and keep them on all other devices, you'll have to turn off iCloud for Voice Memo on your iPad. This way deleting them off your iPad won't delete them from your other devices. (iCloud keeps all devices in sync)

Alright, that's good to know but it's still not what I'm asking: will deleting the voice memo app from my iPad delete the memos from the cloud, or will I be able to keep the memos on the cloud and syncing with my phone?

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We see you have some questions about your Voice Memos, and we'd like to help. When you delete the application, the memos should still be saved where you backed them up, as you can restore from that backup at a later date. The following link can walk through how to delete Voice Memos: Edit or delete a recording in Voice Memos on iPhone - Apple Support

Thanks for the screenshot. To clarify the information previously provided, when navigating to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and viewing Voice Memos is the feature on or off? Also, do you use this feature with any other devices.

However, to only remove the content to free storage on your iPad, you'll want to be sure the iCloud feature is off and you see and have access to the data on a different device before removing and turning this option off.

Users have been complaining for this bug for months. I'm really not clear on why Apple just seems to ignore it. Apple support was rude enough to suggest me to upgrade me phone (when I still have room left...) because "64G is not enough"

Context: I was running out of storage (Voice Memo was taking up 1.6TB in a 512GB ipad ?) so I deleted all my voice memos from the memo list + from the Recently Deleted folder. Checked storage and it was still taking up space. Restarted my ipad, offloaded the app, uninstalled the app (and subsequently deleted the Documents & Data), but it appeared as com.apple.VoiceMemos instead, and it still took up space.

I deleted voice memos and deleted permenantly then deleted the app and restarted ofcourse in between every step but seems I can't get rid of it and prevents me now from backing up and transferring the data, as you can see it registers around 1 Tera or in some screens even 54 tera even though the phone is only 128Gb so I don't even understand what does that mean

Help! I do not understand iTunes very well, or iPhone very well. I have a bunch of voice memos ON my phone that I want to move TO my computer. All the help articles I can find talk about files being moved from the computer to the phone during syncing, and say the info on the phone will be deleted! Why would anyone want to go from computer to phone? I always want to go the other way. I take pictures, memos, notes on the phone, and want to put them on my computer.

I downloaded iTunes for PC, v. 12.12.8.2. I guess long ago I synced my phone, because there are 20 voice memos on iTunes that are not on my phone now. I have about 50 voice memos on my phone that I don't want to lose. When I connect my phone to iTunes and select "music" then click the box beside "sync music" I get a warning pop up that says: "Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, and books from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?" Very ambiguous. What does that mean? No, I don't want to "remove" things from my phone, I just want to copy them to iTunes. I don't want to lose either the memos on the computer or the memos on my phone. I am afraid to click "yes."

I just want to copy the memos from my phone to the PC. Why is it so hard to give clear instructions, Apple? Everything I read about iPhone and iTunes is ambiguous and unclear. The terms "sync" and "back up" are not defined, and everyone writes as though obviously all readers are Apple and computer whizzes who understand all the esoteric terminology. I do not.

Got it. I succumbed and used iCloud Drive. I can save to files on my phone to iCloud drive, then sign into iCloud on my PC and download the files. I don't like it much, but it does work. Thanks for the help, all.

Hi. General support for transferring voice memos was removed in iTunes 12.7, which is when app management features were also removed from iTunes. Apple seem to have focused on cloud sharing, which works only works automatically with recent versions of macOS. See Share a recording in Voice Memos on iPhone - Apple Support. You can export to the Files app for use with various third party cloud sharing tools and/or Dropbox.

Thanks so much for your persistence! I don't like to use iCloud at all; I have privacy concerns, so try to stay away from much of what most people do automatically. If I can accomplish my task without using iTunes, even better. I use Windows 10 Pro, v.10.0.19045. I have used Dropbox in the past; is it possible to use that?

If you're the type of person who better remembers things by recording an audio note, then the built-in Voice Memos app is a quick and easy solution. With this native app, you can record audio directly with your iPhone or iPad and have it accessible from any device with iCloud. Whether it's a lecture at school, a voice-over for a video, an interview with someone else, Voice Memos on your best iPhone will get the job done.

The Voice Memos app will work perfectly with your iPhone's built-in microphone and speaker. However, if you want to take it a step further and get the absolute best sound in your recordings, make sure to check out the best iPhone external microphones.

In iOS 15, Apple has added some additional features to make your recordings in the Voice Memos app even better. These new options include changing the playback speed, Skip Silence, and Enhance Recording.

Apple occasionally offers updates to iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS as closed developer previews or public betas. While the betas contain new features, they also contain pre-release bugs that can prevent the normal use of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or Mac, and are not intended for everyday use on a primary device. That's why we strongly recommend staying away from developer previews unless you need them for software development, and using the public betas with caution. If you depend on your devices, wait for the final release.

As you can see, it's super easy to quickly record audio with the Voice Memos app whenever you need to. Do you have questions about how to use the Voice Memos app on your iPhone or iPad? Let us know in the comments, and we'll try to help you out.
