I am unable to play videos in facebook or bbc iplayer. I am using firefox as my browser. In facebook, the video looks just the same after I press "play" as before. Its as though I have not pressed play at all. In bbc iplayer I get the message "this content doesn't seem to be working. Please try again later". I have tried several suggestions from this site including:

Please note, I am not an experienced linux user and my knowledge of coding and using the command terminal is very limited (the sudo commands I used above were copy pasted from similar problems posted on this website). I would therefore appreciate any explanations in clear, plain english, assuming no knowledge of coding or even how video enablement works in linux. Thank you

If you own a Samsung device, you can download videos from Facebook without having to use a separate app or website. We tested this method on a Z Fold 4 and it worked perfectly, although it didn't work on the Google Pixel or OnePlus devices we also tried to test it on.

Now you're familiar with how to download videos from Facebook, you may also want to learn how to hide Likes on Facebook or how to make yourself anonymous on Facebook. Or if you think emojis are so last year, check out how to make your own Facebook avatar.

Facebook inherently does not want to display content from external websites nicely in its News Feed. Get creative and come up with unique ways to get your content seen, especially your YouTube videos.

Before we get to permanently downloading videos from Facebook, though, there may be times when you simply want to save a video within Facebook so you can more easily watch it later. Think of it like "bookmarking" a video.

Pop-ups can sometimes be annoying so it has to be designed and timed appropriately to create a non-disruptive effect. 20th Century Fox (which I learned this tip from) showed a great example with their Kingsman trailer video:

I apologize if this has already been asked. Any time I would watch any video on Facebook (even reels), if I pressed the screen the time bar would show up at the bottom so that I could fast foward or rewind/select a spot to start the video at. Now that feature seems to have entirely disappeared? If I accidentaly click a video to open it full screen (or go back), or if I accidentally scroll down an then back, the video automaticallly starts from the beginning and I can't go back to the spot I was at. Is there any way to fix this or is this just some awful update I have to live with?

You can download a video from Facebook as long as it has been set to public. Windows, Mac, and Android users just need to copy and modify the video link, while iPhone users have to use a third-party app like MyMedia.

Instagram Stories are short-form videos that display for 24-hours on your profile. Followers and users can access your Stories directly from your profile; followers have the luxury of accessing your Stories directly from their feed, where Stories for accounts they follow display directly at the top of their screen.

Looking to promote your video through paid ads on Twitter? Luckily, you can use the same exact formats from Twitter organic videos. Stick to the same specs for both organic and paid video to ensure maximum visibility.

As YouTube continues to grow as a destination for video content, it hosts everything from short-form promotional videos to full-length movies and TV. This means users are streaming content on all sorts of devices, which could have different levels of zoom or overscan.

Standard YouTube videos are pretty straightforward, but there are a few video ad formats to learn if you want to advertise on the network. According to data from Google, brands advertising on YouTube with Discovery ads see incremental conversions.

People also now have the ability to upload HDR videos from their phone to Reels and for that video to play back in full HDR, the first of our efforts to bring true HDR video support to our family of apps.

Take a cue from the National Guide Dogs Australia (cue hearts melting), who hosted a live puppy stream on National Puppy Day. Think Golden Retriever puppies, a massive ball pit, and nonstop audience engagement.

On Facebook, in-stream video ads play during videos (mid-roll) from familiar publishers and digital-first creators that specifically tailor their content to Facebook audiences. Here, the ads only appear on mobile devices, and only after 60 seconds of the main video content.

You can even block your ads from appearing on certain websites and apps, or with certain publishers. Just be sure to block all available domains and URLs of that publisher. Also, keep in mind that the number of blocks allowed in one year is limited to 10,000 domains or URLs.

Specs: N/A, but objectives for the Audience Network include reach, brand awareness, engagement, video views, and conversions.

Best practices: Since in-stream video ads on Facebook are not clickable, conversions and post-click landing page traffic are not applicable. Although to optimize the post-click landing page, linking to a post-click landing page from an ad via Audience Network is highly recommended.

It's a good update for Facebook, further removing ambiguity around the types of content being posted, helping to ensure a better user experience by providing what you would expect from both video and non-video content.

Keep in mind that some Facebook users have autoplay disabled. For them, you'll want to make sure you choose an interesting poster frame (aka thumbnail). This is the still image that represents your video. Facebook will automatically give you several to choose from, and you can choose the one that's likely to be the most interesting to your viewers.

These moments are what make live video special, and they're exactly what differentiates it from scripted, edited, or otherwise pre-recorded videos. Embrace the platform. Banter is always, always good.

But when people are watching a video, they may be more distracted from Liking and sharing it than they would a text or photo post. (That's something the folks at Facebook noticed about video content early on, which is why they began monitoring other video engagement signals as well, like turning on the volume.)
