I'm a new owner of a 2023 Mazda 3. I love the car but am very disappointed in the USB MP3 player features of the Mazda Connect/Infotainment system. I am unsure if there's a better forum to get tech support for a Mazda, but figured I would start here on Reddit. I've spoken to my dealership and they were not much help as they indicated they have no control over the software and suggest I reach out to Mazda Canada. I've done this as well and was basically told that the system is operating as intended, and they have since ghosted me on any follow-ups I tried to make. I'm pretty disappointed in this as well.

My second issue is with album art: Mazda's implementation seems to be broken. Default behavior for the system seems to be to utilize Gracenote for the album art, but it frequently will use the wrong album cover, a random picture of the band, or just show nothing at all. There is an option within the system to not use Gracenote, but as near as I can tell it ignores whether or not the option is selected. Doing some searching on this seems to indicate the Gracenote is a problem for many people. Any idea how I can force the player to utilize album art stored on my USB drive? In my searches online, I've seen a couple of threads indicating that the dealership is able to completely disable Gracenote. Is this possible, and are there any other implications of doing so?

And finally playlists: As a workaround to how the system handles folders, I was thinking maybe using playlists would be a decent workaround. However the system does not recongize any of the playlists I've created. I've tried a number of times, and have stored them in various locations (ie the root and other subfolders), but just get a random error that no playlists were found. I have limited experience with playlists as all other players have used folders "normally", but I thought playlists were more or less universal. Is there anything obvious I am overlooking, or any other tips to get the system to recognize my playlists?

Listen to an iPod or other compatible portable audio player using the USB mode. Playable data includes: MP3/WMA/AAC/OGG files. Compatibility varies according to model or operating system (OS) version of device. Click here to see if your device is compatible. If incompatible device is connected, error message is displayed.

To hear the video player sound select the active audio source as the same USB as the videos you are playing. Pause audio or play a silent track then start the video and you will hear sound.

But because the USB and AUX jack are two different connections, those who do place sound quality as their primary concern may find that they have a preference for the USB input. Generally speaking, a USB connection should provide the best sound transfer while limiting manipulations that could affect the sound quality.

I just recently in past couple days purchased my Apple Watch (stainless steel, 42 mm). Yesterday was my first time using it in my Mazda 6 (2016) and my Mazda Connect system. Until yesterday my iPhone 6s Plus 128 GB phone had been working without any problems since the introduction of bluetooth 4.2 (using iOS 9.1 now) I had some issues with audio not always connecting before the 4.2 bluetooth update but for some time no problems. Phone connected fine, phone calls (receive and send) , uploading of my call list, music play lists, album lists, audio profile all worked flawlessly.

So I get in car, first thing I notice is the usual audio connect had problems in finishing. The music playlist would not load easily or properly, and the previous music playlist I was playing on my phone and which was paused--- which always starts automatically after load (when car starts) was not played but a playlist from yesterday (different than what I was currently playing on the iPhone). I finally just started the playlist on phone while this flakyness ensued and it would eventually play but the playlists and albums took alot longer to load on Mazda Connect before I could control there.

I found lots of folks having this issue with bluetooth on various auto sound systems for connecting your smartphones and such via bluetooth since the watches intro, most seem to be in first few months thru July and pre Watch OS 2.x. A few still mentioned issue with 2.01 on their watch.

So I am curious how many of you who now have watch OS 2.01 have this issue, had it before with earlier OS's, and those who had before but found it fixed by 2.01 or not? Wondering if this is a hardware issue with the bluetooth on the watches or if a firmware/software update of its bluetooth might fix. It is not the end of the earth as the watch quickly goes back to full iPhone connection afterI turn airplane mode off. The basic features of the phone still work while in airplane so it is a feasible workaround for now at least in my case.

Same here. I have an apple watch, iPhone 6, and Himbox HB01 (bluettoh system connected to audio in (jack) of my car and every 20-30 s I hear audio drops. I have to put my watch on audio mode to have it working properly...

Interestingly enough after first 1-2 weeks of ownership I stopped having to put in airplane mode before I started my Mazda 6 and Mazda connect had unobstructed bluetooth access to my iPhone 6s Plus. Then around a week ago the issue came back. No updates to iPhone (iOS 9.1) or the watch OS 2.01 I am using. What I noticed when it came back was the Mazda Connect could not even connect with my iPhone. It forced me to unpair and repair the iPhone to the Mazda connect. So next day when I came back the issue of watch bluetooth was still present and I have for past week had to go to airplane mode first on the watch, get the iPhone connected and then go back to airplane mode off on the watch. While not the end of the world it is a extra issue I would hope to avoid.

2008 Dodge Challenger srt8, iPhone (iOS 9.2) has always reliably paired with in car Bluetooth. Also purchased Apple Watch in December of 15 (version 2.1) and immediately experienced the dropped audio issue when pairing with car radio to make calls. It will initially connect, and after about 20 seconds it begins to cycle on and off. If you swipe up the Bluetooth icon appears to cycle on/off during this issue.

I found that although sometimes this does not happen on my Mazda 6 most of time it does so I turn my watch to airplane mode then start the car. Once the iPhone and Mazda connect have synced, audio is loaded, phone is synced and call list loaded, then and only then I can turn the watch off airplane mode and for the rest of the trip I have flawless audio and phone use in my mazda. Of course in small trips around town I have to do that everytime I get back in and start the car not a choice I like -- almost a hassle but it seems ot do the trick. Have you tried putting watch in airplane mode before you start your car and then start and sync your phone first?

It never happened before in 7 years with any iPhone and since I started wearing my watch I noticed if I raise my hand and the watch wakes while on a call, the link between phone and car disconnects. The actual call stays connected on the phone but goes off hands free in the Jeep.
