Entering Your Last Name: If you cannot find a status update on the first try, make sure the name you enter is spelled the same as the name you provided on your passport form. If you have a hyphen in your name, try entering your name with and without the hyphen.

Your status may be "Mailed" if you received a new passport in the last 180 days, and you are re-applying for a new passport. For example, you may need to use Form DS-5504 if you need to Change or Correct Your Passport. It may take 2 weeks after the date you apply on Form DS-5504 for your status to change to "In Process."

Passport Book: You may get your new passport and citizenship documents in two mailings. You may wait 8 weeks after getting your passport before you get a second mailing with your citizenship documents. We will return the passport book using a trackable delivery service.

Passport Card: You may get your new passport card and your citizenship documents in two mailings. You may wait 8 weeks after getting your passport before you get a second mailing with your citizenship documents. We only send the passport card via First Class Mail. We do not send cards using 1-2 day delivery services.

If you already have a Texas Nurse Portal account, you will find information regarding your application status by logging in to your account. The review, of an application for licensure, can only be performed after specific items are received or required processes have been completed. This online verification allows Endorsement applicants, Nursing Students, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse applicants and Reinstatement applicants (4 or more years away from nursing practice) to check the status of these "Required Items". To view required items for your application, enter your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Application Type and click the "Submit" button.

Processing Time: If it is not on the list of items received please allow us up to 10 business days from the date that the item was received by the Board of Nursing for it to appear. If the item is the last item required in the needs list to complete your file then the file will be reviewed and the next step of the process will be taken within 10 business days.

Note for RN and LVN NCLEX applicants: The Nursing Jurisprudence Examination (NJE) and Pearson Vue (PV) registration MUST be completed BEFORE you can receive your Authorization to Test (ATT) and in turn your GN/GVN permit (if applicable). Your admissions review may take at least six (6) weeks as many factors may impact the timing of your evaluation such as the complexity of your record, the need for a committee review, or the volume of applications received at certain times of the year. Applications that are completed during our peak period (December through February) may experience an extended timeline. Our review process is very thorough, as we want to make sure we construct a complete admissions profile, so please be patient with the process. The student type you select on your application determines the admissions items required to complete your file. You can review the list of required items by logging into your Future Eagle Account. If there are any outstanding items, please send them to our office as quickly as possible. You must send all documents directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Make sure to send all your official transcripts to Undergraduate Admissions. Contact your prior schools to confirm your transcripts have been sent to FGCU. Failure to send all transcripts will delay the application process.

If you have not yet filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we encourage you to do so immediately at -for-aid/fafsa. If you have completed the FAFSA but did not include FGCU among the colleges and universities that should receive your application information, you can add FGCU to your FAFSA record by making corrections at -for-aid/fafsa. Be sure to include our FAFSA Code: 032553. Make sure you report your e-mail address on the FAFSA since FGCU will send financial aid award notices to students by e-mail. The Financial Aid and Scholarship office will have more information on scholarships and the financial aid process. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to visit our campus and experience first-hand the qualities that make FGCU such an outstanding university. In some situations, a student cannot be claimed as a dependent. Generally, a married student cannot be claimed as a dependent if he/she files a joint return with his/her spouse. Also, to claim someone as a dependent, that person must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. resident alien, U.S. national or resident of Canada or Mexico for some part of the year. There is an exception to this rule for certain adopted children.  Independent Student.  A student who meets any one of the following criteria shall be classified as an independent student for the determination of residency for tuition purposes:

 A claimant (or a parent if the student is a dependent) must submit documentation that he/she has been a Florida resident for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the first day of classes for which the student is enrolling. At least two of the following documents must be submitted, with dates evidencing the 12-month qualifying period. At least one of the documents must be from the First Tier. As some evidence is more persuasive than others, more than two may be requested. No single piece of documentation will be considered conclusive. Additionally, there must not be any contrary evidence establishing residence in another state.
