A Dedicated Snap Store allows vendors running Ubuntu Core and snap-based devices to control exactly what snaps are available, and when. It can inherit selected packages from other snap stores, and host a set of snaps specific to a brand and device models, and be either open to all developers or a specific list.

I tried the new snap Ubuntu Store.

It is good, I like the Snap store as well.

change back to the origional

I left mine with the new Ubuntu Store on my 22.04.

The community store (@madsrh, many other and me mostly responsible) had a period in development where canonicals designers participated in sharing design and we all brainstormed a lot in the discussions tab.

I think the canonical store will continue on some of the ideas but things can look in X places different.

Maybe Canonical should think about past mistakes with its Snapstore Server Suite and also with Software Center Agent which caused a lot of trouble with its corporate users back in 2014 when Canonical changed mind about its Ubuntu approach.

Eight different laptops, more than a dozen installations, over about 4 years; Every single one has had a near-completely broken Ubuntu Software store. Failing to load results, or apps; Failing to download, failing to install. Drivers, software, system updates... It's absolutely staggering.

@jibel I noticed that for FocalFossa (20.04) the WSL rootfs is published at -images.ubuntu.com/daily/server/focal/current/ in this line:

The Ubuntu Software application notifies me that there is an update available for Snap.When I go to Ubuntu Software and click on the update button for Snap, I receive an error message stating that"Unable to update "Snap Store": (null): cannot refresh "snap-store": snap "snap-store" has running apps (ubuntu-software), pids: 2098" .The exact error message is not displayed in the terminal.Steps I've Tried:

Additionally, as @Sirex has suggested, you can use /usr/local/bin/ to store cronjobs globally, that is, for all users, and /usr/local/sbin/ for scripts which are to be run as root. Personally, for sake of organization, I would put them under the directory cron, to separate them from ordinary shell scrips or binaries.

Now the syncthing master branch has code to build snaps for amd64, armhf and arm64. Thanks for that, it is great for me because now I can sync all my ubuntu-core machines, even the raspberry pis, beaglebones and dragonboards

The next step is to push the snaps to the store. This will make it really simple to install syncthing on any linux distribution that supports snaps [1]. But my favorite feature are the update channels, to make it easy to publish a daily build and get quick feedback from the early adopters.

The UUID is stored in the superblock (of which there are many copies in case one gets damaged). The value itself is generated using libuuid, which is part of the e2fsprogs suite. There seems to be a massive confusion. The "partition UUIDs" are indeed stored inside a partition entry but are only supported by GPT partition layout. However, when someone referred a "partition UUID", most often they actually meant a "filesystem UUID". The reason for that confusion is that MBR was for a long time the de-facto standard for partition tables layout and it didn't support UUIDs nor labels. Those were implemented instead by filesystems. On ubuntu and ubuntu like systems, the root account is disabled by default for security and stability reasons. Reason why, the best and most secure way is to use a regular user like yours, that will use the sudo framework to perform administrative tasks like snap install or manage partitions with gparted.

Through this app store, developers gain a simple mechanism to share their applications, projects and scripts between themselves and with the wider Orange Pi community.

Applications in the store are formatted as snaps, the universal Linux application packaging format. With snaps developers can distribute their application in a secure, confined package bundled with all its dependencies, so users can install applications that could take half an hour to install in just a few seconds.

The Orange Pi App Store uses the whitelabel app store offering from Canonical, which lets them distribute applications to the Orange Pi community under its own brand. The store is a place for developers to share their Orange Pi specific applications. It also benefits from the wealth of applications available in the Ubuntu snap store, also available through the store. The community has already contributed 100s of snaps in the Ubuntu snap store, ranging from server to desktop and IoT applications, thus matching the variety of use cases for the Orange Pi family of boards. While creating an active developer community around Orange Pi, the store and snaps are also key to supporting device makers throughout their project lifecycle.

I have the same thread on the same topic but it was related to Linux Mint 20. So I try Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on my laptop and fortunately snap is working well. So I installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on my desktop after a long hassle but again I receive the same error (unable to contact snap store). After the relatively recent release of Ubuntu 23.04, which saw the introduction of a Flutter-based installer, we now have another important utility of Ubuntu receiving the Flutter treatment; a new software store app.

I tested the new Flutter-based store on my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS system, and I must say, the user experience is far superior to what we have with the existing software center.

To be clear: this is not a new app store. It is the same Ubuntu Software store as currently shipped, and is still based on GNOME Software. It just packaged as a Snap application.

While @JasonBayton is correct that the data is stored in /var/snap/nextcloud/common/nextcloud/data , what he did not say is that the normal user can only see as far as /var/snap/nextcloud/common. To see further than that you need to sudo bash.

Ubuntu is planning to have a new store that aims to be an improvement over both the existing Flutter store and the classic software center. As Tim Holmes-Mitra of Canonical shared the updates on the new Flutter-based app store, we can now have a quick look at the new store.

The code is on the dev branch at ubuntu/app-store 24. If everything goes according to plan, the new Flutter-based software center could be included even before the official release of Ubuntu 23.10. That means daily versions of Mantic Minotaur will include this new store as default this week or two.

When Snap was introduced Canonical promised it would never replace APT. This promise was broken.
