I've read stuff about their games requiring the background use of Ubisoft Connect like EA does with Origin on Steam, but on Steam it doesn't say that. I have an Ubisoft account and I'm happy to link to it but I don't want to have to use their launcher inside Steam to play games I purchase on Steam. I'm looking for clarification on this issue because I'm confused regarding it.

Getting the exact same issue. Bottles installed the other day, downloaded a game and ran it no issues, today it wont run anymore. before ubisoft closed last it mentioned something about an update that needed a restart of the software.

I managed to get around it by uninstalling and reinstalling ubisoft connect, and on first launch doing it with my internet connection disabled. the log in screen will show up and at that point i turned my internet back on, logged in, and ubisoft connect just works now. but it would be nice if i didnt have to do that every time i launch ubisoft connect or a game i have on there

Has nothing to do with being desperate and most likely Microsoft pulling strings. Maybe it was one of the things they promised the commission that they make a few game available on multiple launchers so that they dont have a monopoly over to many games or force people to use their launcher. The work and stuff they have to do to get OW and other games to different launchers is enormous. They dont do this because of money or because they need players. They do it to look better.

A guide that I've seen quite a few comments ask for across YouTube and our social media pages, so here's how to get the Ubisoft Connect launcher working on Steam Deck. You might want to do this if you own games on Ubisoft but not directly on Steam.

A special important note: ensure you've set Ubisoft Connect to minimize when closed in the settings. In Gaming Mode on the Steam Deck, you need to quickly close Ubisoft Connect once you hit Play on a game, otherwise Gamescope (the SteamOS compositor) gets confused on what to display and madly flashes between the launcher and the game. A problem shared by many launchers right now. UPDATE: thanks to a comment, you can get Ubisoft Connect to auto-launch a specific game by adding uplay://launch/*gameID*/0 to the end of your Steam launch options for the app (ID list here) which gets around the flashing issue but only works for a specific game at a time.

I just finished downloading riders republic on epic games launcher, it was a 22gb download and when i clicked launch it took me to Ubisoft connect where it proceeded to start another 24 gb download. When I searched online it says that the game is only 22gb in size so can anyone explain what is going on or is this some kind of issue with the game?!

I had this game installed before but deleted it. The first time I downloaded it this did not happen so i am very confused.

On personal computers, Ubisoft had offered its Ubisoft Game Launcher to manage the downloads and updating of its games. The Uplay client was introduced on 3 July 2012 to replace the launcher, incorporating its features as well as management of Uplay rewards and a digital storefront for Ubisoft games.[4]

I wonder whether anyone has figured out how to patch Ubisoft games so that Ubisoft Connect/Uplay is not launched, given that the launcher is both unnecessary for many players' purposes as well as preventing a lot of players from playing the game.

Sometimes, games offer config files or allow for modifying the launch script to remove e.g. video intros to a game. Is there any similar option that will allow for playing their games without the launcher?

(BTW, I do own a legit copy and am highly frustrated by the launcher.)

Last night was a restless one for the Steam Deck. In addition to a huge client update for the handheld PC, Valve pushed out a Proton Experimental update to fix a crashing problem with games that use the Ubisoft Connect launcher on Steam.

A new update for the Ubisoft Connect launcher completely stuffed launching Steam games on Linux platforms. According to GamingOnLinux, trying to launch any Ubi titles on desktop Linux or Steam Deck resulted in an unrecoverable error popup from Ubisoft Connect. From there all you could do is click OK and accept you're not getting on for that Division raid tonight.

While it is being dealt with, this is yet another example of frustrating third-party launchers only making everyone's lives more difficult. I don't even want to know Ubisoft Connect exists, let alone have it flash up in my face and not be able to play my games because it's not working properly. I understand these companies want my data but you're supposed to be sneakier and better at getting it than this by now.

For now, at least there's a workaround and every Ubisoft game I've tested on Windows is working just fine. Hopefully any further third-party launcher issues will only strengthen the argument to do away with them completely. One more thing to add for what we would like to see in a Steam Deck 2.

First of all, the header of the Ubisoft Connect interface has been reduced in size. Now it features only two options: a button to subscribe to Ubisoft+ and a choice of the launcher version you wish to use.

GOG's Galaxy launcher allows you to change where games are installed, but there is no built-in button to move downloaded games to a new folder. Click the gear icon in the top-left corner, open Settings > Installing, updating, and select Game installation folder. Choose your preferred location and future games will be saved here.

Electronic Arts has phased out the Origin launcher in favor of its new EA app. While the new service promises faster download speeds, updates, and the ability to communicate with friends across different platforms, EA is missing Origin's extremely useful Move Games option to let you transfer game files within the client.

You will need to find the folder where your game of choice is currently installed (like C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Fortnite) and copy the files manually. Place them in a different location for safe keeping, then return to the Epic Games launcher and find the game in your library.

According to the official announcement, the company has focussed on improving the accessibility of the game client, based on feedback from users. The header in the Ubisoft Connect's interface been trimmed, it is no longer cluttered with buttons and a menu bar. It looks neat and tidy, with just has 2 options now, one to choose the version of the launcher that you want to use, and a button to Subscribe to Ubisoft+. The header is sticky, i.e. it stays the same on all pages in the app.

The Verge calls the current version of the Ubisoft Connect app crummy, and I agree. The launcher has always been slow in terms of performance, even when it was called Uplay. The new version of Ubisoft Connect is still a 32-bit app. It's not as bad as Epic Games' atrocious launcher, so that's a positive thing. I've never really had issues with slow downloads in Ubisoft Connect. The only area where it is behind compared to Steam or GOG Galaxy is the user reviews section. Ubisoft Connect lacks it, and frankly I don't think it will ever happen, considering that the launcher is a first-party app for the company's own games, they probably don't want people complaining about their merchandise, and potentially hurt their sales. That said, Ubisoft's games have been coming back to Steam albeit after a considerable delay since they are launched on Epic Games, so you could just wait it out if you really care about reviews from other players.

Want to try the Ubisoft Connect beta? Just run the launcher and click on the Beta button at the top of the screen, the app will restart and load the new version. Going back to the stable channel is just as simple, all you need to do is click on the Standard button.

This new look is ugly and like every other launcher, I want my old one back and will find a way to do it at any cost. Their already adding in game ads to their games, forced this ugly garbage on us, who knows how else their gonna try to screw us. I refuse to allow this!

From the game launcher, you can download and install games from your account or check your achievements and online rankings. In addition to games for sale, there's also a large catalog of free and free-to-play games ripe for the picking. The world of PC game distribution is a competitive one, so sometimes games are given away for free for limited periods of time. And in those cases, the player always wins!

is very good to use for windows 7 , take 4 files from last update of ubisoft connect, txt copy in under your older version of Ubisoft , IT stop update Yes you can still play game on windows 7 are crea...
