a newbie here ! I am on a 2 years old SmartThings Hub, with devices from Samsung, Philips, Ikea, and few others. recently bought some Tuya Zigbee switch modules and scene switches for trial. I THOUGHT that I could use the SmartThings Hub as the Zigbee gateway, but apparently I cannot go through the config screen on the Smart Life and locate the SmartThings Hub.

But you should also know that if you do choose to connect your Tuya made Zigbee devices to a SmartThings hub, then whether you get them to work or not, they will never show up in the Smart Life app. Nor will any other devices on your SmartThings account, including the hub itself. Because the integration is only one way, Smart Life into SmartThings, not the other way around.

Tuya devices are still pretty popular here in the community among power users because of the very low price and advanced features, but Tuya never really intended them to be used with other hubs and the integration sucks. . So using them can require a lot of work to set up.

otherwise, I may force the SmartThings Tuya devices connection by applying the device handlers into the SmartThings then control those devices directly from the SmartThings app. I see this is a popular solution in the forum, and I am not familiar with it.

TWO GATEWAYS

at this point, I may keep my devices on two separated gateways (SmartThings Hub for Samsung, Philips, Ikea . . . and Tuya Hub for Tuya devices). this involves two different apps in the smartphone as well.

INTEGRATION

as you mentioned, the integration is likely to be one way, and future maintenance and update may be an issue. as well, not all Tuya devices are smoothly migrated into the SmartThings too. let me do some homework and understand this option then.

The old architecture used a Groovy programming language cloud and individual customers were able to write their own custom device type handlers (abbreviated DTH) in groovy and use those. So pretty much any threads in the forum which are older than October 2020, will be referring to that first generation architecture.

It means that you can start researching and you may very well find some custom groovy DTHs in the forum that work with the devices you have and you can use them right now. But you should be aware that they will be going away pretty soon.

(Anything using a Samsung provided stock DTH is supposed to be automatically transferred to a new stock edge driver eventually, but historically smartThings as a company has not been great at automatic migrations, so we will have to see how that goes.)

And there are some community members who have been doing a lot of research and a lot of coding on the new edge drivers and have been super helpful to the rest of us as well. @Automated_House , @orangebucket , and @jkp, Again among others, have been doing lots of detailed research on the new architecture and sharing that with the rest of us.

If you do want to try an Edge Driver with one or two devices to get more functionality in the ST app than the regular account-level integration, you will need to subscribe to the Edge driver, then reset the device so it no longer appears in the Smart Life app, then add it to the SmartThings hub and it should pick up the Edge Driver automatically.

Can anyone give me a quick and simple explanation of these product/company/technology names, and how they are related to each other?

Like, are these all names of different divisions within one company, or of different companies under one umbrella company, or simply different names for the same company?

I have one of the Merkury RGB LED Wi-Fi Smart Bulbs from Walmart, and I can control it (directly) from any one of at least three different mobile apps (named Geeni, Smart Life, and Tuya Smart), and indirectly through Alexa, and SmartThings.

How i discovered this is that i bought a wifi smartplug from a thrift shop and the app for it was missing. Since i already had a Geeni plug i tried to try and pair the unknown plug to the Geeni app and to my surprise it worked. So i researched why and found out that both plugs were based of Tuya software. If you look at most cheep wifi smart home devices chances are they use Tuya software.

As we have discussed many times in the forum, Nortek, one of the largest manufacturers of Z wave devices, often sold the exact same device under five or six different brand names, literally just with a different label on it

Jasco is another Home automation manufacturer who makes the same device and then sells it under different names or provides it to other companies to sell under their own name. You can get the same Jasco device sold under the Jasco name, the GE name, or now the Honeywell name. I think they also used to make the DragonTech models.

Nowadays there is yet another complication as many Chinese factories Will offer the exact same physical case to multiple clients, resulting in devices which look identical but which may have different internal parts or firmware.

Yesterday, my smartlife and tuya smart devices we no longer connected to my google home. The devices now appear offline through the Google Home app, but are usable through either the smartlife of tuya smart apps. I have removed devices and rejoined them, removed the account linking and tried relinking, logged out and logged back in.

Thanks for reaching out. I apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing. We'll work together to identify the cause of the problem and find a solution. A few questions: were there any recent changes made before it started? Did you set up a voice match? Do you have other home members added to the app? Make sure all accounts are not linked to Tuya.

2) I tried to reconnect a tuya light switch to the account. This is really the only new Tuya service and is accessed by my daughter as well. There Google Home device did not seem to be originally connected to our home network so i needed to set that up, and then tried to connect her light switch to that as well. This is probably the culprit.

Thanks for sharing that information. I want to confirm that your daughter has her own Google Home account. If yes, check if Tuya is linked to her account. Unlink it, and then try linking it again in your Google Home account. If the issue persists, try taking the following steps:

"No compatible devices were found in your Tuya Smart Account:

You may need to set up these devices with Tuya Smart First. If you have already set up devices, they may not support good home. In other cases, devices man not be available due to temporary error. Please wait a few minutes and try again"

This is the same issue as before following the process. I know my devices are connected to Tuya as i can control them from the Tuya app, hence why it feels like an integration issue between google and Tuya as you are currently investigating.

Go in to your Smart Life or Tuya application --> click "me" in bottom right corner --> settings (top right) --> Account and Security. Once in there, click on google assistant and "unauthorise".

You should now be fully decoupled.

Now, go through and relink your Tuya/ Smart Life account in Google Home. It should now find all of your devices and bring them in to Google Home, most with the same settings as we in place originally.

If this doesnt work, go to tuya support and get on the chat, found them highly useful.

Thanks for the advice team, great to know there is support out there for this. Its a kind of clunky experience but i do love the outcomes once going well!

mam to samo - odczyem konto bo mi dwa urzdzenia przestay dziaa - prba podczenia ponowna nie udana komunikat jak wyej "No Compatible Devices were found in your Tuya Smart Account" - czyszczenie pamici nic nie daje, reinstalacja programw rwnie - mwic wprost dupa blada

I have the same problem. We got back from a few days away and all Tuya devices were offline in Google Home. They are all present and operable in the Tuya app but remain offline in Google Home. I've tried unlinking Google Home in Tuya app then re-linking but still Google home fails to see the devices. Help!!

Thanks for the update. Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the Google Home app? If not, give it a try and then command Google Assistant to Sync my devices." If you have a household member and you are the primary account set up in your home, remove and re-invite your members. Let me know how it goes.

Just found out it actually says on the integration page that the locks are not officially supported :((

If anyone has any experience with these either WIFI or ZigBee ones, please let me know, Thanks!

Another update: someone on tuya integration GitHub claimed they can lock/unlock all types of these locks via API calls, so if that were to be true next question would be how would someone automate getting the cloud key with one request and then using it to unlock/lock the door with only one button>?

So basically to get zigbee versions of these locks into HA just get a zemismart hub and an apple device and connect those through home kit. If anyone has a better idea on how to implement it lemme know.

Hi, there is new custom integration for Tuya Bluetooth (Thanks to @PlusPlus-ua and all his efforts to get smart locks included in this integration )

if anyone has one of tuya ble smart lock please try this with yours and share your results, my HA is installed on an old laptop i dont trust the bluetooth range, i would like to see the result for others, Thanks!

check it out at link below:

I have also bought several different models of tuya door locks like wifi and zigbee (arround 20 different, zigbee one even can be remotely unlocked as well as one wifi model) was not able to integrate any into homeassistant. It would be rly nice to see any of them working with HA 152ee80cbc
