Troll is a 2022 Norwegian epic[2] monster film directed by Roar Uthaug.[3][4] Starring Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjgrd Pettersen, Gard B. Eidsvold, Pl Richard Lunderby, and Eric Vorenholt, it follows a ragtag group of people who must come together to stop an ancient troll that was awakened in a Norwegian mountain and prevent it from wreaking havoc.

As the troll heads to Norway's capital Oslo, the prime minister orders a complete evacuation of the city. After learning of the government's plan to destroy the troll with a nuclear bomb on Oslo, Nora and Andreas object, but are dismissed from the task force. Nora makes a last attempt to find out the truth about the creature. Tobias' notes lead them to the Royal Palace, where they meet Chief of Court Rikard Sinding, who reveals the truth about trolls in Norway. Tobias had been right all along; Trolls had been living in Norway until they were wiped out by Christian settlers and the truth buried in folklore. When Nora's father got too close to the truth, Sinding had him discredited and committed to a mental health hospital. The Royal palace was built on top of the Troll King's palace after the Christians massacred his family and left him for dead inside a cavern in the Dovre mountains. Nora concludes that the creature is heading for Oslo in an attempt to return home.

Discovering that trolls are vulnerable to direct sunlight, Nora and Kris plan to expose the troll to UV light from a number of tanning beds. While Kris calls on fellow soldiers to make the troll trap, Andreas asks his friend Sigrid at the secret government facility to delay the bombing of Oslo. Sigrid hacks into the military's system to halt the nuclear strike. Nora and Andreas place the skull of one of the troll's babies in the back of the Queen's truck and lure him to the UV light trap. Nora has a last-minute change of heart, turns off the lights, and tries to save the creature's life. However, the sun then rises into a clear sky and kills the troll. While everyone else rejoices, Andreas and Nora wonder if more trolls are still alive deep inside Norway's mountains.

News website TheWrap officially announced Troll on 25 August 2020, with an article featuring a synopsis, and a statement from Uthaug.[7] In March 2021, Bloody Disgusting revealed concept art of the titular monster attacking Oslo.[8] In January 2022, David Kosse of Netflix described the film as "a giant four-quadrant event movie that happens to take place in Norway... with a troll."[9]

Old-school monster movie fans will enjoy this Netflix original from Norway.

Deep mountain tunneling unearths a giant troll. What was once thought to be a mere fairy tale is now a building-smashing reality.

Geologist Nora Tiderman (Ine Marie Wilmann) must look into Norway's past and myths to find a way to stop the towering creature made of stone.

Nora is wise, intuitive, educated, and not afraid to speak her mind. She's willing to take risks and she cares about nature and its creatures, even trolls. Andreas is wiser than his employers give him credit for. Other characters disobey orders to do what they think is right, and in some cases, the orders are coming from leaders who are obviously out of their depth and making bad decisions.

A troll rages through the countryside, striking fear into the hearts of Norwegians. There's not a lot of explicitly gruesome detail, though the troll does eat one soldier (because he "smelled blood"), down some manned helicopters, walk through homes, destroy city buildings, threaten a child-heavy amusement park, and kill others accidentally with his largeness. The military deploys its strongest weapons against the troll, lighting him on fire, only angering him further. A cavern of troll skeletons is revealed. A main character is killed. Another main character lost her mother when she was young. An early scene shows her as a girl nearly falling while climbing a steep mountainside.

Parents need to know that Troll features an enormous troll who threatens the nation of Norway and destroys everything in its path. It's unclear for much of the film what the Troll's intentions are, but the government and military are unsuccessful in combatting him with their most powerful weapons. While there isn't a lot of explicitly gruesome detail, the troll does eat one soldier (after smelling blood), down some manned helicopters, walk through homes, destroy city buildings, threaten an amusement park full of families, and kill others accidentally with his largeness, including a main character. Women hold leading political, scientific, and intelligence roles in this Norwegian-language film. Swear words in the subtitles include "s--t," "bulls--t," "damn," "hell," "ass," "heck," "screw," and "piss off." Nora Tidemann (Ine Marie Wilmann) grew up in the countryside hearing legends from her father Tobias (Gard B. Eidsvold) about the trolls who were turned to stone by sunshine in TROLL. Her dad went on to become so obsessed with the story of the demise of the trolls in Norway that he was eventually sent to a mental institution. Nora grew up to become a respected archaeologist. When a giant creature emerges out of a mountain, the government calls Nora in to consult. Slowly she realizes the creature may well be a troll, and she pulls her father in for help. She forges a fast bond with the Prime Minister's right-hand man Andreas (Kim Falck) and a soldier known as Captain Kris (Mads Sjogard Pettersen). She'll need their support as she comes up with increasingly creative ideas to counter the troll, who is forging a destructive path straight toward the capital city of Oslo.

Loot from a troll depends on what kind of troll it is and what weapon it is holding. All trolls will drop Troll Tusks and Troll Leather corresponding to what kind of troll they are; as well as this, they have a 2.5% chance of dropping a Troll Skull. Along with this, they have a chance to drop the weapon they are holding, which can be the following:

Finally, all trolls will drop stone of any kind (cobblestone, stone bricks, etc.), sticks, and bones, while other minor drops are restricted to some trolls; forest trolls will drop mushrooms and oak wood, mountain trolls will drop emeralds, and frost trolls will drop snowballs, sapphires, and spruce wood.

Trolls are naturally hostile to players and villagers. Once a troll sees its target, it will let out a loud, guttural roar and come rushing at the player. When attacking, trolls often strike downwards with their club, dealing 5 hearts (10 HP) of damage with each hit; however, they are also known to do a sideways swipe with their club, dealing massive knockback to their foes. If a troll encounters an unavoidable obstacle while chasing down a target, it will smash the obstacle to bits with its club; as well as this, the troll's thick hide means that arrows are useless against it. However, if a troll is exposed to direct sunlight, it will turn to stone; like any mob petrified by a Gorgon, a petrified troll can be broken with a pickaxe, and yields 2-5 pieces of cobblestone once broken. Due to this, trolls will never leave caves or any shady areas during the day.

Since arrows are ineffective against trolls, it is suggested that one should wear decent armor and carry a hard-hitting melee weapon before fighting a troll. The best way to take on a troll is to lure it out of a cave during the night, and sprint away from its club strike, run back to land a hit on it, and repeat until it dies. Alternatively, one can let the troll chase them around until the sun rises and watch it turn to stone; however, this method yields no valuable loot from the troll.

Hill-trolls are monstrous unintelligent creatures bred by Melkor to imitate the ents (just like normal trolls). They are about 5 blocks tall and feared for their brutal force or highly valued by evil commanders. However, they explode in a shower of stone when the sunlight hits them.

Hill-trolls are much stronger and larger than normal trolls (and less intelligent, rendering them impossible to communicate with). They also can throw stone at you from a distance and it turns into cobblestone when it hits the ground. They spawn in the Ettenmoors, Coldfells, and in Angmar. They can be hired from Angmar Orc chieftains.

Hill-trolls attack everyone with negative Angmar alignment, but also players with under 100 alignment, much like members of the Mordor faction. Like mounted units, they have an increased distance at which enemies are spotted.

When attacking, Hill-trolls will start by throwing stone blocks at their foe. If their enemy gets within a few meters from them, they will flip out their spiked clubs and use them to bash their enemy to bits.

Evil players can tickle a Hill-troll or a normal troll by right-clicking it with a feather. This may take multiple attempts, but will eventually cause the troll to sneeze, making slimeballs come out of its nose. Doing this will earn you the achievement "Blimey!".

When exposed to sunlight, Hill-trolls will run around in panic, trying to get to a shadowy place. If they can't escape the sunlight in time, they will shatter in a shower of rock particles, instead of turning into statues, like their weaker realatives do. Standing in water also protects trolls from the sun.

Hill-Trolls drop 0-2 troll bones and 0-2 slimeballs that represent the troll's snot. In addition, trolls can drop loot from any animal such as raw meat, wool, feathers and leather. This represents an animal that the troll ate. Semi-rarely, they have a chance to drop part of a Troll Totem, as long as they were not spawned by the Hill-troll Chieftain himself. 17dc91bb1f
