Picked up a 5lb jug of Trailboss last week so I did some load comparison testing. I was just entering my results sheet into my computer from last Friday's Chronograph session where I was comparing the new Trail Boss to my old standby... Titegroup.

The pitch of the existing trail reminds people of a church steeple. Such a challenging slope does not facilitate erosion control. Worse, it passes through preserved civil war battlefield entrenchments, which as par for the course, unthinking/uncaring hikers damage by removing rocks to make fire rings. Neither practice, rock displacement nor fires, is appropriate on such hallowed ground.

I ran the Trail Boss both as a front and rear tire, and in the right application I thought the Trail Boss was great at both. This is a versatile tire that is a jack of all trades, master of none. If your trails are predominantly hard pack, and less steep the Trail Boss offered up good braking and cornering characteristics as front tire. Paired with a Riddler on the rear the bike accelerated quickly, and maintained great speed. I can see some folks running the Trail Boss front and rear; with the High Grip version up front and the Fast Rolling variant out back. For more aggressive trails, like around these parts, I preferred running the Trail Boss as a rear tire with an aggressive front tire like the Magic Mary or WTB Vigilante. The Trail Boss rolls well, offers adequate braking traction, transitions easily from braking to cornering, comes in good compounds, has a sturdy casing and seems to lose grip in a graceful manner. All reasons that add up to the Trail Boss possibly being my new favourite rear tire on the trail bike.

Morgan, weight aside, I'd be interested in your thoughts on the Trail Boss andPurgatory as a rear tire. How does rolling speed and cornering grip compare? The both look like good candidates for slightly faster rolling tires to run inthe winter on a trail/AM bike.

I slightly preferred the Vigilante in the soft stuff, and the DHR2 on the hardpack, but they both have fairly densely packed side knobs. For soft dry loam Iwould personally run something more aggressive like a High Roller 2 front andsomething like the Trail Boss rear. Side knobs on the Trail Boss areexcellent, but I haven't found them to out grip Vigilante or Magic Mary, thenagain I do ride fairly aggressively over the front of the bike, and as I'msure you remember they aren't many dry loamy trails around these parts. Neatto hear a different perspective!

I love the Vigilante for loose over hard terrain. Its hard to find fault withit. It also works well out back for riding in that stuff. Almost too good asit is hard to drift when you want it to (I guess that's not really a fault). Its one of the few front tires that I can trust in blown out kamloops trails.I had the MM trailstar as a front tire here in Kamloops and hated it. It justcollapsed in hardpacked corners. I got gun shy riding it. I suspect though itwould have been better mounted to a massively wide rim. The DHR2 isspectacular in the rear as you said. Its a very versatile tire that does wellin almost any condition (except maybe deep mud?).

Between the late 1860's and the early 1880's, Texas cattlemen drove millions of Texas longhorn cattle north, through a thousand miles of virtual wilderness, to trail-heads in Kansas.

The trail boss of a cattle drive was someone more mature and experienced than the usual cowboy. he could read, write, and cipher. He would be a natural leader, able to command others and manage the drive through various hazards. One of his responsibilities was to ride ahead of the drive. He would scout out the best route for grass and water, and locate the most likely place for the noon lunch stop. Often he might ride back to a prominent point above the herd. Then he would ride in circles to raise dust and attract the attention of the drovers. By pointing in a given direction with his hat, the drovers would know where to direct the herd. The average drover's equipment would be stripped down to little more than his lairiat and possibly a pistol. The trail boss, on his scout would carry saddlebags, slicker, rifle, canteen, and often binoculars as well. Many an ambitious trail boss could work up to purchasing and including some of his own cattle in the drive. In this way he could gradually establish his own ranching operation.

Chevrolet upped it's game this year with the launch of the all-new 2019 Silverado. While we haven't had a chance to give it the love it deserves, we did get a chance to play with it for a few hours earlier this fall. Our route was an odd one for a vehicle designed for dirty and dusty back roads though. Instead of going off road, we got the opportunity to experience how it handles on pavement, winding our way through LA traffic from Santa Monica up into the mountains and canyon roads of Malibu. All of this, while hauling a trailer loaded with a RZR.

Overall, this 2019 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss is a great addition to the world of off road trucks and I can't wait to take it for a spin on some trails as soon as my number comes up in the long list of media waiting in line for their turn to test it out!

On the trail: Almost straight away we were able to feel the rolling speed and quick acceleration compared to the bulky Schwalbe Hans Dampf tyres that we previously had fitted on the trek Remedy. With a closely packed bunch of knobs across the centre of the tyre they zip along with little resistance.

After a few months of solid riding in dry conditions the rear tyre was showing signs of wear, but nothing out of the ordinary for a soft compound tyre. We never had one flat tyre, despite many likely incidents, and never did we burp or lose any pressure on the trails.

Set in the 1860s, Rawhide portrays the challenges faced by the drovers of a cattle drive. Most episodes are introduced with a monologue by Gil Favor (Eric Fleming), trail boss. In a typical Rawhide story, the drovers come upon people on the trail and involve themselves in other people's affairs, usually encountering various corrupt individuals. Many times, one or more of the crew venture into a nearby town and encounter some trouble from crooked townspeople or lawless politicians from whom they need to be rescued. Rowdy Yates (Clint Eastwood) was young and at times impetuous in the earliest episodes, and Favor had to keep a tight rein on him.

Episode 69 has Favor visiting his two daughters, Gillian and Maggie, who live with their aunt Eleanor Bradley in Philadelphia. In episode 70, a number of the men are back together and heading back to San Antonio about 650 miles away, with a herd of horses (used in the titles) instead of cattle. Episode 71 has a new cattle drive ready to go, but the owner of 1600 of the cattle wants to be in charge, so Favor reluctantly signs on as a ramrod, but after problems, Favor becomes boss again at the end of the show. These five episodes made up one storyline instead of the usual single-episode stories, which could have been set anywhere in the West.

In Region 4, Madman Entertainment has released all eight seasons on DVD in Australia, with each season in one box.[16] Season 8, the Final Season, was released on October 5, 2011.[17] DVD releases play heavily on Clint Eastwood's later fame, depicting him in the foreground as the chief character and crediting: "Clint Eastwood in...", but the original show credits for seasons one to seven actually depict the late Eric Fleming (as Gil Favor) being the lead cast member, with Eastwood as co-star (excepting a few later episodes where Eastwood is the sole star).

In 1961, Signet Books published a paperback original novel called Rawhide by Frank C. Robertson based upon the television show. Eric Fleming as Gil Favor and Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates are both on the front cover of the book. The book follows Favor, Yates, Wishbone, and others as they try to get their herd to Sedalia ahead of a rival's herd. The book was published multiple times with the last run printed in 1986.[19]

They were very courteous and knowledgeable. They even helped me out with a transfer case magnet that I had misplaced from my original housing. This was the only piece I was missing from putting my transfer case back together and Trail Boss was kind enough to provide one for me! Now I'm back on the road! Thanks guys!

They did such an excellent job I couldn't have been more happier. I went back a second time to get more work done and not only did they again do a great job but fixed all the screw ups the place I had originally got work done did. If you want great, honest quality work done with great customer service this is the place for you. My hats off to you guys.
