DOWNLOAD: Vclav Hlek Symphony VICE: How come you can hear mushrooms?

Vclav Hlek: In the late 70s I started travelling with a mycologist [a specialist in the study of fungi] in Prague to photograph and document wild mushrooms. One day, we found this one mushroom called the zvoneek sadn and he asked me to take a look through the lens at it. When I did, I heard this music, like a whole symphony orchestra. It started with strings piccicato, then a flute.

Oh, right.

Whenever I connect with a mushroom I always have essentially the same two feelings. The first is that the mushroom is pleased that I have noticed it and then it wants to show me what it is and why it is in this world. Then a composition arises. Sometimes I give them a wink when I hear the music.

My shroom recipe is simple. Sliced brown or white ordinary mushrooms and stir fry them in butter, garlic powder and red wine. My boyfriend and I love them and we eat them with all sorts of foods. I add them to fried rice, cheese omelets, as a side with lamb, steak or chicken. In chicken with cream sauces and in spaghetti sauce. This may be TMI.

Well my dear, I just happen to have the absolute best mushroom recipe EVER. I adapted a recipe to use Chantrelle mushrooms, which are the most wonderful flavored of any shroom. It has been my VERY SECRET recipe up until now, but for you . . . . .

Special shout out to the folks who did *not* have a recipe to offer, but just replied to say hello and chitty chat. Emily, Tony, Tim, Cindy and Rose, we love you. And extra special shout out to Yolanda, who had no recipe, but offered her favorite mushroom SONG.

Them Mushrooms Band is a happy musical outfit following their Award-Winning in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in December. The band received the ODA Award in Addis Ababa, an award only previously given to outstanding musical outfits for Ethiopian artistes and musical outfits.

It was organised by The MTD in consultation with other Ethiopian Music Authorities who come up with the Order of Awards Programme in that country. It was awarded to the band for their mission to scout, mold, and develop most particularly the Ethiopian artistes to stardom.

The band was also honoured for their service to mankind through their songs, which have been educative and full of moral lessons over the years. And with it, the band members started the New Year with their heads held high!

It was the seventh edition of the event, which was only restricted to Ethiopian artistes in the past six editions. This time, they had invited artistes from six countries Kenya, Eritrea, Somalia, South Sudan, Djibouti and Rwanda.

Tanzania, regarded as a musical powerhouse and a hub of eminent gospel and secular musicians in the region was not invited. Katana said their band landed the invitation through the Ethiopian Embassy in Nairobi, who informed them of the requirement to travel to Addis Ababa for the gala.

The Kenyan band did their compositions and recordings in Kiswahili and Shimelis did theirs in Amharic, the Ethiopian national language. The recordings were done at the Them Mushrooms Studios in Nairobi the same year (1998).

They were band leader John Katana Harrison, who is a veteran singer, composer, and keyboard specialist, lead guitarist Willy Mazeras, drummer Hassan Mandingo, bass guitarist/backup vocalist Billy Sarro Harrison and saxophonist and backup vocalist Kalume Katana Harrison.

Head south first in this area to get three Bell Pepper plants then continue on. Return and head right. We can go north again for a Save Point and a camping spot, so make sure you're healed up and save!

Do so and continue on for another fight. We have a new mushroom enemy here: the "Shroomy Shroomy Knight". He will attack with that sword (easy to block) or when he charges a line of mushrooms goes under your character and after a brief pause, you will have a mushroom explode underneath you. The timing is once again tricky.

We'll get on a platform and continue right to another small fight. After the fight, head northeast to the switch, then use it to raise that grappling post. You will now follow the post as it wraps you around clockwise around the area, until you can use your wind ring to blow the block to the south.

We'll be in the basement area here. You can head back up with the ropes on the wall, but go south first, using the mushrooms to jump to the other side (note the chest). We can blow both of those blocks to the right to find a switch. Be sure to hit hit, then go back up with the ropes.

Continue on and we'll soon reach an area with a time-glyph on the ground and some weird blue mushrooms. First, follow the southeast path to get some Mushrooms, then go back and use your time powers to make it midnight.

Let's go southwest first. This actually leads to a time puzzle. Switch to daytime to make the sun mushrooms bloom. Now, we need to either shine the light or them (or not) to jump on them one after the other. This can be tricky as depth perception isn't my forte, but you should be able to jump on one after the other, so use the light to accomplish that until you can launch yourself to the left using a moon shroom (make it night).

Kill the enemies here and go south / southeast to find some vines to leave. There are some Mushrooms to the right, but to the north is a switch we can use to extend the path up above. You can go to it now with your grappling hook (and that well-placed ladder) to continue to the right.

We will find an area that has a gate to the south we can't open... yet. Continue on and we'll be forced upwards. Keep going north until you get to a house and enjoy the scenes as we meet Yomara.

There are quite a few scenes here, so sit back and enjoy. In the end, she'll invite us in to her house, where you'll see a Save Point, a fire, and Yomara will tell us she's also got some stuff for sale. More importantly, we get Yomara's Key here.

We can now continue south to find a plant that will take us upwards. From here, just proceed to the north, climbing vines (we'll do that a couple times) to get higher, where we'll have to head right and kick down a ladder.

Do so and go down, but head northwest into a cave. Kill the enemies here and we can get the Musrooms to the left and a chest to the right. This chest has the Shroomy Shivs for Serai, so be sure to equip them!

Head back out and kick another ladder down as you go south. We'll come to a place where we'll balance on a beam and it's a path split. Go right first. This leads to a cave (that is a dead end) with another fight. Take the enemies out and in the back is a combo scroll! Go grab it for Garl and Resh'an learned combo skill Venom Bomb. Very cool!

Head back to the path split and go north now (the light should bring the mushroom up). We'll be in another cave. Get on the platform to the right here and use the light to raise and lower the mushrooms again. They'll take you to the top where we can exit.

This cave has some sort of fort in it. Don't bother going up the big stairs: instead go to the lower right and use your grappling hook to get up and fight the many enemies in the middle (who were training!).

Resources are helpful, collectable items in Songs of Syx. They are - including the work of the citizens - the lifeblood of any successful settlement. Resources are constantly being used to build things and fuel many activities that are necessary to keep the player's settlement constantly running. A warehouse must be constructed to manage resources, as well as show how much of things are stored in numbers, which is showed as a bunch of numbers in the GUI at the right of the screen in-game.

Resources must be collected by citizens in various ways, and certain buildings must be constructed to begin that process. This ranges from cutting down trees for wood to making jewelry in a jeweler building, all to keep people happy and the wheels of your settlement turning.

Most resources can be found in the natural environment, but others must be man-made. A third way of getting resources is to trade for them with another settlement. This is very useful in getting a specific resource that is not within reach of your settlement, or simply getting more of a resource because your settlement is currently not producing something fast enough (or you just want more of something anyway).

Each resource contains a unique element providing something helpful throughout the course of the game, though there is usually a trade-off. For example, fish are easily caught if a settlement has water within reach, and are the only water-based food resource in the game, but have the trade-off of spoiling the fastest of any other food if not quickly stored. In another example, leather can be used to make clothes, but it is expensive in trading and requires a lot of animals to get it from.

The abundance of resources also heavily relies on where the player chooses their settlement. In the image to the left, an information box displays the abundance of the resources found in any given area the player hovers their mouse over. It is in the player's best interest to find an area that provides as close to having all resources as possible, though to get all of them in one place is borderline impossible.

Climate is another element of the game that affects what resources can be naturally gained. For example, mushrooms need to be grown in an environment where the heat cannot damage them, so only cold climates allow mushroom farms to exist. If the player were to choose a temperate or warm climate to start the game, the mushroom farm choice won't even be available in the building menu.

When trading for resources, at least one trade depot and one delivery depot need to be built; they manage outgoing and incoming things respectively. The trade depot allows the player to choose what can be traded away and in what amounts, while the delivery depot lets the player choose what they want from outside settlements. A delivery depot allows only one resource choice per depot, so multiple delivery depots will have to be made with different choices if the player wants multiple types of incoming resources to be delivered. Each resource has an unfixed value, so the player can only receive resources depending on how much they traded away. 152ee80cbc
