However, hacked Telegram accounts are far from uncommon. Make sure to stay informed of known Telegram scams, turn on passcodes and 2FA, and be cautious when interacting with suspicious messages.

Last month, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob lodged reports with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the police after his personal Telegram and Signal accounts were hacked.

While no technology is completely immune to security risks, Telegram has implemented various security measures to protect user data and communications. Reacting to the arrests, The Intercept's founder Glenn Greenwald has provided Brazilian magazine Veja with an exchange with his own source, who denied having anything to do with the Telegram voicemail account hijacking incident. Greenwald told Veja the first contact with the source took place a month before Moro claimed to have been hacked.

In early December 2016, FATA targeted Telegram channels with 300,000 to 500,000 members that mainly contained posts about entertainment and other non-political issues. The accounts of these channels were hacked just a few days after their administrators were summoned and questioned by FATA.

One recent instance of cybercrime involves the distribution of hacked intimate CCTV videos, which are being sold on the platform. These videos, featuring content from bedrooms, are in high demand, with a dedicated Telegram channel named Vnexpress offering them for sale. The videos are priced at $3 per clip, and subscription options for quarterly, half-yearly, and annual plans are available at a cost-effective rate of $29.

Notably, certain videos showcase bedroom footage of couples from countries like Canada, the United States, Australia, and Britain. The content is allegedly hacked from CCTV cameras installed in hotels and resorts, commanding prices ranging from $16 to $19 per clip.

On April 29, two Russian opposition activists reported that their Telegram messenger accounts had been hacked remotely. Georgy Alburov, a leading member of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, and Oleg Kozlovsky, the director of the Vision of Tomorrow Center in Moscow, believe unauthorized access to their accounts was obtained through tampering with the app's SMS login feature. They suspect the Russian government was involved in the hack.

Here is how the events unfolded:

At 2:25am the technical security department of MTS disables the text message delivery service for my number.

15 minutes later, at 2:40am, someone uses a Unix console via the IP-address 162.247.72.27 (this is a Tor anonymizer exit node) to send Telegram a request to authorize a new device to work with my phone number.

I was then sent a text message with the code, which was not delivered (since the service was disabled for me).

At 3:08am the hacker enters the new authorization code and gains access to my account. Telegram sends me an automatic notification of this (which I will only see in the morning).

At 3:12am Zhora Alburov's account is hacked in a similar fashion from the same IP-address (and through the same Tor session).

At 4:55am the MTS technical security department reactivates the text-message delivery service for my number.

MTS refused to name the cause of disabling and reactivating the service to me, and suggested I send a written request for information.

Earlier in April, several Russian journalists, including Roman Shleynov who worked with OCCRP on the Panama Papers investigation, and Oleg Kashin, said they received security warnings from Google about possible state-sanctioned attempts to hijack their email accounts. In September 2015, an editor and a journalist at the newspaper Novaya Gazeta reported that their email inboxes had been hacked by persons who obtained unauthorized duplicates of their SIM-cards from cell service providers.

After the hacker enters the account; you can immediately remove him from the account; If the hacked account already has a Telegram account, from the very beginning of the hacker login to your account; a message will be sent by Telegram stating the entry of a new device; with the details of the operating system and IP hacker for your official or unofficial Telegram application.

If you do not have access to your hacked account password recovery email or you forget and do not remember the password. Telegram management will delete it within a week; If you select the Reset Account option and receive a second verification code after one week.

7- Telegram management is not able to recover your hacked account; So after receiving the telegram message, you will see a red button called Account Reset that you must activate.
