If you don't have meeting scheduling capability in Outlook or Teams, starting an instant meeting is a great option. Just like with scheduled meetings, everyone who attends your meeting will continue to have access to the meeting chat, the recording, and anything else people share in the meeting (like files and meeting notes), even after the meeting ends.

Hello, can anyone help me? I have "Make Zoom Rooms the host if it joins before meeting host" turned on and I still can't start a meeting in the Zoom Room. The message "Waiting for the host to start this meeting" appears.

Hey @spscentr, one possibility is that the host of the meeting and the Zoom Rooms are on different accounts. With that being said, the Zoom Room is not automatically able to be the alternative host. When a user schedules a meeting and invites a Zoom Room on the same account, the Zoom Room can start the meeting without the host needing to join from the desktop client or mobile app. This will give the Zoom Room full host controls. There is more info here on Starting meetings from a Zoom Room.

For longer, larger meetings or additional features such as international dial-in numbers, meeting recording, live streaming, and administrative controls, see plans and pricing for organizations or Google Workspace Individual.

No. With a Google Workspace plan, you have the ability to include a phone number and PIN on each of your meetings with no other configuration required. Check the dial-in documentation for more details.

I've been trying to assist a client with this, they want to know if it is possible for her to schedule a meeting but have external users start the meeting without her being in the meeting. I can't seem to find any clear documentation from MS that explicitly states whether this is possible or not, but I came across this: -teams/teams-meeting-organizer-permissions/m-p/1304040/highlight/true#M52795

According to this, if "Automatically admit people" is set to Everyone, the 1st person to join the meeting should be able to start the meeting. But, I'm not sure if this would work if you invited an external user who doesn't have a MS/Teams account. I've tried joining a meeting using a Gmail account, it lets me specify a name so I can join the meeting, and then it states that "Only people with access to this org can join its meeting".

The people in the Teams Classroom can all start a conversation with the rest of the classroom. This is unhandy because I can not guarrantee the safety and wellbeing of my students when I am not in the call aswell. Is there a setting that prohibits the students to call for a meeting, and only allow the owner of the Team to make said call?

Meeting Chat - Available before, during and after a meeting, useful for people to ask questions. Again your admin can turn this on and off in the Meeting Policies for all or particular users. This will only exist if you do not select a channel for your meeting, if you do then the same polices as below apply.

@ChristianBergstrom go back to my comment, i was talking about something different! i know meeting options and i made a tutorial on YouTube about how to change them. As of now, anyone in the meeting is able to start a meeting, students are still able to start a meeting anytime from the team and there's no option available for team owners to stop them!

@ChristianBergstrom imagine you have a math team of 30 students, when the teacher who's also the owner of the team schedule a class for 10 am tomorrow, any student is able to " join" the scheduled meeting anytime now. also any student in the class can click on "Meet now" in the top left corner of the team and start a meeting, you end up having 3 or 4 separate meetings in the team!

@hhbadarin No. "This setting controls whether a user can start an ad hoc meeting in a Teams channel. If you turn this on, when a user posts a message in a Teams channel, the user can click Meet now under the compose box to start an ad hoc meeting in the channel."

To begin with, which I believe is your biggest issue (?) you want to control who can start a scheduled meeting? To do so you need to configure the previously mentioned -AutoAdmittedUsers parameter using PowerShell with the switch 'OrganizerOnly'.

@ChristianBergstrom You avoided my question and went back to something totally different! I have classes scheduled for tomorrow 10 am, i wake up tomorrow at 8 am to find out that 3 or 4 meetings have been started by students in the team. The student goes to the team he's part of, clicks on" meet now" in the top right corner and easily starts a meeting! students join other student's meetings thinking it's the intended class meeting supposed to start at 10!

Several people in this conversation have replied as how to control and manage Teams meeting behavior. I have attached direct links with details and descriptions as how to do accomplish this. Do you really expect us to do all the necessary work for you? I suggest you read the documentation thoroughly and then configure the meeting policies to suit your needs. As you're obviously stressed out go ahead and turn off 'Allow Meet now in channels'.

@hhbadarin No worries. But even if I worked for Microsoft it wouldn't be appropriate. Just turn off the "Meet now" that you attached as a picture previously to prevent users from starting ad-hoc meetings, to begin with. Then while you're in the admin portal you can submit a proper service request directly to Microsoft support if necessary.

If you want to ensure that students can't enter a meeting before the teacher as already shown this is also now possible by setting so that Owners only can enter directly. You need to set this using Skype for Business Powershell, for example to change the Students meeting policy you would

I have kids starting meeting 15 minutes before they start, I don't care whether they are talking to each other or not (which they can't because they are all in the lobby) I don't want my meetings starting that early. One student told me she starts all her meetings for the day at the beginning of the day so she "won't be late" (there is no tardy policy right now because of DL so I don't buy it). Students start the meeting on their end and walk away.

Each group ought to be self supporting, so be sure that your group considers a donation, should the facility you choose not charge you rent. For virtual meetings, there are many audio and video conferencing platforms that offer services for free or at a nominal cost.

Submit the New Group Registration/Change form to World Service Office.

We suggest you do this as soon as you start your meeting so it can be listed in our Find a Meeting database and people searching for a meeting in your area can find you. Please be sure to keep the World Service Office informed of any changes that occur regarding your meeting. Contact name (first name only) and phone number are important. This is how the newcomer or traveling member gets more information about the meeting. Each meeting must have a contact name and number. If there is no one in your group who wants to be listed as the contact, you can use the intergroup or service board name and number should you choose to affiliate with one.

We strongly suggest that your group affiliate with an intergroup or national service board.

An intergroup/national service board is made up of a number of groups in a locality or in a virtual community. Its purpose is to serve and represent the groups of which they are composed and act as the guardian of the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts of OA Service. Affiliation gives the group access to this support. At some point your group will need an intergroup/national service board representative to attend the intergroup/national service board meetings and be part of the OA community in your area. The intergroup/national service board can be helpful in supporting your meeting during this initial phase of your development. Please contact the World Service Office if you need assistance in locating an intergroup or national service board.
