And speaking of the song itself, our singers really enjoyed this one, and we think yours will, too. It starts out seemingly simply - the melody is mostly just a bunch of G's with a little variation here and there. But watch out! By the time you plug in the lyrics, it gets a little tricky. This is one you will want to practice slowly a cappella (which is exactly how we learned it) to catch the nuances. For example, really lay for the "o" in "radio" to remember that that is when the pitch changes from the B to the G again. Isolate the phrase and practice it by itself a few times. They'll get it.

When the tune repeats, there is an optional second part, which we think really adds a lot to the tune if you can swing it. As always with multiple parts, we recommend you teach the core tune to everyone in general, then have a few select singers or even another, maybe older, class do the other part or parts. They can usually learn it faster and sing it more solidly. Plus, once they have done so, they might be able to help teach some of your other singers the same part(s) for reinforcement. (We have found that older students love to be teachers and mentors to younger students. And younger students usually respond pretty well to them.) To help with this second part, we have included a free rehearsal version of part 2 on our web site. See note below.

Another leaf has fallen, / another soul has gone. / But still we have God's promises, / in every robin's song. / For He is in His Heaven, / and though He takes away. / He always leaves to mortals, / the bright sun's kindly ray. / He leaves the fragrant blossoms, / and lovely forests, green. / And gives us new found comfort, / when we on Him will lean.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there were one set of footprints. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints. So I said to the Lord, "You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?" The Lord replied, "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when I carried you."

God hath not promised skies always blue, / Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through; / God hath not promised sun without rain, / Joy without sorrow, peace without pain. / God hath not promised we shall not now / Toil and temptation, trouble and woe; / He hath not told us we shall not bear / many a burden, many a care. / God hath not promised smooth roads and wide, / Swift, easy travel, needing no guide; / Never a mountain rocky and steep, / Never a river turbid and deep / But God hath promised strength for the day, / Rest for the labor, light for the way, / Grace for the trials, help from above, / Unfailing sympathy, undying love

In our present world of sorrow / Of heartache and despair, / Never feel alone forsaken / For God is always there. / When life's path is rough and rocky / Seems more than we can bear, / There's a blessed friend to guide you / For God is always there. / We can overcome life's trials / And our many troubles bear, / For we have a faithful helper / Our God is always there.

"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. I'll always be with you."

Winnie the Pooh (A.A. Milne)

Thankyou all for sharing ; hearing makes me feel not so alone.

My best friend Hugh died on 6 March, 6 months ago after a short illness. We had been friends for 37 years : I met him when I was 14 and through all the years since he has seen me through so many adventures and heartaches and the deaths of all my family and an old University friend. He was my big brother, my Dad, my Uncle as well as my funny , witty, intelligent kind and generous, warm best friend. He always had a welcome home for me. I feel so utterly bereft without him and wonder how now I am to find an anchor. But I must and I know I am blessed to have had him

For so long. I shall always miss him and hope one day we can sit and drink tea and laugh together as old. Thankyou Hugh. Please

Give

Me strength to carry on and keep your memory alive.

Much love to all you out there who are similarly living with the grief of a best friend.

I understand now why there was a time when people in mourning would dress in black. I want to wear black. I want people to see me and realize that I am in mourning. I am broken hearted. See me. See my broken heart. Be with me and help me hold my sadness, even for a little while.

Kara

I periodically read back over what I wrote at the loss of my best friend. I like you helped her die the way she wanted. She had stage 4 colon cancer and battled it bravely for three + years. I still miss her so much but was so privileged to be there with her when she passed. She was able to be in her home and not in some sterile room. I hope you are doing ok and remembering the great gift you gave your friend by being there for her. Blessings to you.

Everyone has goals in life and some we can reach on our own, but some take a little more help. There are things that we desire that only God can give us. When things are not going our way and we are turning to God for help, but He does not seem to hear us, we start to get discouraged. We feel as if He is not there for us or does not care to help us, but that is not true. He hears you and he knows the desires of your heart. He will give you everything you desire when the time is right.

When there are things that we want in life, they tend to consume our thoughts. We start to obsessively think about the things we want most and it starts to take up a lot of our time, energy and thought. Turn that obsessive thought into prayer. Give it to God and let Him take care of it. Stop worrying and trying to achieve everything on your own and ask God for help.

It is in our human nature to stress over the little things. Even the smallest of situations give us anxiety, and it may seem stupid for giving those small things to God. He wants to know what gives us anxiety, no matter how big or how small; he is always there to help you and get you through anything and everything that is bothering you.

When the storms would come

And things would seem so bad

And I'd wanna cry

Almost

I'd listen to my dad

He promised that the rain would pass

The day would soon be fair

And I never was afraid because

He's always there

a very present help in trouble;

whether inward or outward, of soul or body; the Lord helps his people under it to bear it, and he helps them out of it in the most proper and seasonable time: they are poor helpless creatures in themselves; nor can any other help them but the Lord, who made heaven and earth; and he helps presently, speedily, and effectually: in the Hebrew text it is, "he is found an exceeding help in trouble" F20; in all kind of trouble that the saints come into, the Lord has been found, by experience, to be an exceeding great helper of them; moreover, he is easily and always to be come at, and found by them for their help.

This hasn't always been the case, and I don't know if this has to do with the amount of time I've had my Spotify account or if something about the algorithm has drastically changed - but whenever I start a radio based off a song or artist (which is with the intention to find a NEW artist or NEW music that is related to the song/artist I'm starting the radio off of) it just creates essentially a playlist of music I've been listening to - and not even within the same genre off the song.

I've realized that I haven't found any new artists or any new music, and just continuously listen to the same things over and over again which is quite depressing. The point of the song radio or at least how I use it is to discover new artists that are in the same realm of the artist I'm listening to, and I think you all at Spotify are putting everyone - artist AND listener - at a huge detrimental disadvantage by having it go that way because then there is no discovery for new artists and there is no way for listeners to get into new music without scouring the platform instead of giving good recommendations based off your algorithm. More than anything I want to be able to discover new artists based off song radio, not just hear the same songs I've been listening to. If I wanted to listen to those songs, I would just continue to listen to them. Especially since maybe when I start a song radio off something that is midwest-emo/indie, it'll still play hyperpop/rap in the same playlist which are two completely different genre's and moods. 17dc91bb1f
