The Department has started the soft launch of the 2024-25 FAFSA form, where the form will be available for periods of time over the coming days while we monitor site performance and respond in real time to any potential issues impacting the applicant experience. During the soft launch we will be initiating pauses to the site, during which time the form will not be available while our team makes improvements. As explained below, students and families will have ample time to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA, and do not need to rush to fill out the form immediately when the soft launch period opens.

Leading up to and during the soft launch, we uncovered some minor issues affecting users at various points in the application process, which is to be expected with the launch of a major new website. We are addressing these issues concurrently and will continue to monitor for additional issues users may encounter while we conduct the soft launch.

Issue Alerts: We have added a 2024-25 FAFSA Issue Alerts page to inform the financial aid community of issues that arise during the soft launch. Each time we update the page, we will add a link to this announcement and include the announcement in our subscription email. In addition, you can bookmark the page and check it periodically.

During the soft launch period, the Department will be monitoring site performance, conducting planned pauses for maintenance, and making updates to improve the user experience for students and families.

Students and families will have ample time to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA, and do not need to rush to fill out the form immediately when the soft launch period opens, as FSA will not transmit results to schools until later in January. Here is what students, families, and schools can expect during the soft launch:

If a student completes their form during the soft launch period, their information will be stored for processing. They do NOT need to return to resubmit their application after the soft launch concludes.

Because full processing of FAFSA forms will not start until late January, students and families will have ample time to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA and do not need to rush to fill out the form immediately when the soft launch period opens.

As you plan your FAFSA completion events, please consider and plan for the possible impact of the soft launch and delays it might create in accessing the form during December and January. If possible, we recommend you plan these events for later in January and in February to account for the soft launch period, in the event there is planned site maintenance that could impact your events.

Though FSA is updating the messaging to students and families about what they can anticipate during the soft launch period, institutions and state agencies may need to amplify key messages with students and families to clarify the FAFSA schedule and terms of the soft launch period.

Soft Matter provides a unique forum for the communication of significant advances in interdisciplinary soft matter research. There is a particular focus on the interface between chemistry, physics, materials science, biology and chemical engineering. Research may report new soft materials or phenomena, encompass their design, synthesis, and use in new applications; or provide fundamental insight and observations on their behaviour. This annually presented lectureship recognises early career researchers, typically within 10 years of attaining their PhD or equivalent degree, who have made significant contributions to the field of soft matter.

The purpose of a Review is to bring the reader up to date with research in a particular field. Since the readership of Soft Matter is wide ranging, it is essential that the Review is easily comprehensible to a non-specialist in the field. Authors are encouraged to identify areas in the field where further developments are imminent or of urgent need, and any areas (such as techniques) that may be of significance to the soft matter community in general. The article should have particular appeal to younger researchers and established researchers seeking new fields to explore.
