If you are already using the ODBC driver and need to download an updated version, check the version that you are using, andreview the changes between your version and the updated version in the ODBC Driver release notes

To find the version of the driver that you are using, call the CURRENT_CLIENT SQL function froman application using the driver. You can also verify the driver version byexamining queries executed by the driver in the QUERY_HISTORY view.

A big query might execute in less than a minute in Snowflake but then take hours to actually send over to our server, and I suspect that the limitation lies within the official ODBC driver itself. Our server itself has a gigabit fiber connection, and I've confirmed with my IT team that there is no speed throttling being applied at the firewall level.

I've looked around to see if there's some fetch size variable I can alter for the Snowflake ODBC driver to no avail. Doesn't seem like there is one. Has anyone here run into something like this before and found a solution? I'd be extremely grateful for any insight on this issue.

One quick follow up question - if I want to publish a rmd or shiny app from the server to Connect which utilizes Snowflake data - do I need to do the same set up(download drivers, unixODBC, configure files) that I did on the Rstudio Server Pro on the Rstudio Connect Server? Or is there a different set up for Connect than for Server Pro?

I know there are user specific analogues for odbc.ini (~/.odbc.ini, maybe?), and there may be similar for odbcinst.ini (which points at driver .so files). It may be worth taking a look at those to see if they resolve your issue!!

This connector requires a driver to talk to the database. You might already have the required driver installed on your computer. If the driver is not installed on your computer, Tableau displays a message in the connection dialog box with a link to the Driver Download(Link opens in a new window) page where you can find driver links and installation instructions.

Here is the result... Notice the size difference... DBMAX_TEXT= didn't help. It only works on BLOBs. I think this is a problem and am going to try to do something about it. Some ODBC drivers will let you limit the length of text strings. Unfortunately, the Snowflake ODBC driver doesn't appear to be one of these. I will ask them about it.

HVR requires that the Snowflake ODBC driver is installed on the machine from which HVR connects to Snowflake. For more information on downloading and installing Snowflake ODBC driver, see Snowflake Documentation.

After installing the Snowflake ODBC driver, configure the LogLevel configuration parameter as specified in ODBC Configuration and Connection Parameters of the Snowflake Documentation.

For a default installation, these files are available at /etc and do not need to be specified. However, when UnixODBC is installed in for example /opt/unixodbc the value for this field would be /opt/unixodbc/etc.

HVR uses the Snowflake ODBC driver to write data to Snowflake during continuous Integrate and row-wise Refresh. Currently there are 4 open issues in the r-dbi/odbc repository dealing with what I assumeis the same issue. Just 2 days ago Sharon Wang has created a PR that addresses this as well (thanks a lot ?).

People have offered solutions that were helpful for some persons.The sad thing however was that none of the posts have helped me with finding a solution.I have already come to terms with it and on the plus side highly improved my SQL skills?. hi folks, we have SSAS Tabular 2019 on prem, and we're trying to source tables from snowflake but getting an error when trying to deploy and process the tables (within VS 2017). Interestingly enough, the ODBC driver (supplied by snowflake) tests out fine and processing of individual sourced tables (from Snowflake) into the SSAS cube also work out fine. 

I'm attaching screenshots -- was wondering if I'm missing any configuration params.

so I hopped on the server, I installed the ODBC Snowflake driver, configured it same as the local machine, I am able to process fine any individual tables (& connect to the snowflake server), but when time comes to deploy the project, I get the same error message.

so I hopped on the SSAS Server, I installed and configured the Snowflake ODBC drivers (both 64 bit and 32 bit), I made sure the connectivity works for the DSN data sources, opened up the VS project, again it processes fine individual tables (draws data from Snowflake ok), but when it comes time to deploy, I get the ODBC not found/configured below (per trace). 

Am I missing anything else?
