Especially when all you want to do is jot down a few simple reminders that you want in one place so they're easier to find later. This project management software allows you to jot down all the important ideas, notes, or reminders you have in your mind. It automatically updates every change you apply across all your devices, in real-time. On top of that, collaboration is possible here as it enables you to share a to-do list, post some instructions, or publish notes online.

Unfortunately, this note-taking software is hugely lacking in security and privacy features. Even the developers don't encourage you to keep any confidential information within this app as the contents of your notes are unencrypted when stored here. If you are one of the users that value this type of feature, you can opt to download Evernote or OneNote instead. The mentioned programs are equipped with better security measures such as two-factor authentication and AES 256-bit encryption.

To be fair, there are still some tools that save this program from being impractical. For one, the markdown editing format that it serves to its users is especially notable. Its customized tagging wherein you can add tags for instant searching of your notes is very helpful. Moreover, every change that you did is backed up so, you will be able to see what you noted from one week ago, all the way back to even a month.

Simplenote is only recommended for users that need to do plain and basic note-taking. Otherwise, if you are looking for a powerful project management program that contains advanced features and guarantees security and privacy, it is more suggested for you to download EverNote or OneNote.

I have become fed up with using two different notes applications and seek a minimalist approach of unifying my notes into one application shared (directly synchronized) between the two aforementioned devices.

The notes can be synchronized end-to-end encrypted between multiple Android and Windows devices and can be self-hosted. Currently supported are the FTP protocol, the WebDav protocol, Dropbox, Google-Drive and One-Drive.

For more security that is NOT shareable with limited accessibility from other devices, store your OneNote notebook in a Personal Vault in OneDrive. Here is a good article. Although Vault may be good for other types of files, it currently has limitations for OneNote. First, it does not show up in the OneNote applications. You have to unlock your vault and click on the file. I was only successful in opening the notebook using Chrome on Win10:
