Autodesk has some changes with silent install of its 2020 apps. I am attempting to install AutoCAD 2020 and have not been able to use the old methodology of silently installing 2020 version like I did the older ones because of this new switch. Now we have to use the Licensing Installer Helper Tool ( -explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Use-Installer-Helper.html)

there are some switches that are required when using this method and some are mandatory and others are not. I run into some difficulty running these so called switches.

however there is another required switch called --cf. This --cf switch requires the path to the config_file(cf) which is located inside the installer (that is what autodesk support stated) however the installer is a flat package and I could not see the exact location of the cf file.

Has anyone attempted using this new method for silent installing AutoCAD 2020?

Oh, I wasn't even aware there was the silent install option, thanks a lot for bringing this to my attention! I had written a script that would instruct the users how to activate their app once it was installed. Using a proper silent install would be so much better...

The Incredibuild silent installation lets you use the command line to install Incredibuild components. This type of installation is particularly useful if you are installing Incredibuild on many machines, or if you do not want your users to be aware of the Incredibuild installation.

Silent Install Helper is a unique program for Windows that enables you to batch install and remove programs on the operating system while revealing useful information about each program that you load in its interface.

Windows users have a couple of options when it comes to deploying multiple programs on the system. It is probably easiest if you deploy portable programs as you can just drop them somewhere on the system and be done with it, but if software needs to be installed, it becomes less intuitive quickly.

Select Installer > Add Installer or Installer > Add Folders of Installers to get started. The former option lets you select a single installer from the local system while the latter crawls the selected folder for installers and adds them all to the interface.

Supported on Windows 7 and later, the MSI installer is a wrapper of the exe full installer that allows users to customize their installation preferences with an MST file prior to deployment. Using an external MSI editor like Orca, you can change the values for a property in your MSI file to enable the silent option for installation. Sometimes, you end up needing to install many applications at the same time. Then, later on, you need to configure your computer with another OS. It can be a pain. However, if you have a tool that speeds it up, you can save that time and energy.

Silent Install Helper is a clever tool which can help you install multiple applications without seeing any of the usual alerts and dialog boxes. That is, when it works you won't see any splash screens, program licences or requests to choose an installation folder: the applications just end up on your hard drive with the default settings.

To begin, drag and drop your chosen setup files onto the program, and Silent Install Helper will try to identify their type, and list the results. If a setup program is based on a known installer (Inno Setup, Smart, Wise, Nullsoft NSIS, RAR SFX, ZIP SFX, Microsoft, Ghost Install Wizard are supported) then it should be possible to install it silently. But if its "Installer Type" is listed as "Nothing found" then this means it's not been recognised, and you'll only be able to run a standard installation.

To install whatever programs remain, click Select All > Start. Depending on your installers, you may see brief pop-up messages alerting you that a particular setup program is being launched, but otherwise that should be it. You'll see no dialog boxes, no requests for information, not even a message from Silent Install Helper to tell you the process is over - your applications just get installed.

Alternatively, if you'd like to save this list of programs on multiple PCs (they're all your favourite applications, say), then select the installers and click "Create *.cmd file". This produces a script which you can save along with the setup programs. Copy these to any PC, double-click the "setup.cmd" file and your programs will be installed automatically.

The interface isn't as intuitive as we'd like, but once you figure out the basics then Silent Install Helper proves to be a convenient tool which makes it quicker and easier to batch install your chosen applications.

This is plainly a very basic solution. If you just want to install 3 or 4 big-name tools, something like Ninite will provide everything you need, including the latest versions, by checking a few boxes -- no need to mess around with scripts.
