Everything seems fine, no errors (apart from the complaints about 3 missing bios files, which are actually in, hopefully, the right folder ~.config/retroarch/system~).

And yet, I get a blank screen/window and the game is stuck there. Maybe not even loading? I can tell I see nothing but a full black screen (and well, just a libretro notification on the bottom left, telling me it is loading/applying cheats. That sentence stays there as well and never vanish).

In AEL configuration there's a "Check retroarch BIOSes" option that if you point your Retroarch system directory to the place you copied the BIOSes to it checks them and in my case the checksums for what's expecting for PSX (5500, 5501 and 5502) match.

The only out of the ordinary thing was step 4 - once I got into retroarch gui my controller stopped working completely, and when trying my other input method (bluetooth mouse), only scroll wheel working - never mind, I connected a keyboard and hit escape to get out of retroarch gui.

I tried going again in retroarch using keyboard and went to the online updater and downloaded a few random things - after that rebooted and started emulationstation again - this time the game would start, I could hear the game sounds but the screen remained black, with the exception of a frame counter on the lower left that was incrementing continuously (not a frames-per-second but a frames-since-starting-the-game thing)

Note about the bioses: copied over all the files I had on RetroPie, don't know if the same ones are expected here. Maybe it's looking for slightly different names, or different case...is there a way to check retroarch is finding the expected ones?

And in regards to the bios, as long as you have not changed any configurations within retroarch you have placed them in the right place but you can check where retroarch is looking for them by looking for directories within the retroarch program once in directories the top one should be system/bios and it should point to /storage/emulators/bios.

I already tried all snes emulators, they all give the same result -> back to home screen. Maybe it are my roms. if I try them with mednafen on my regular linux PC they work, but yesterday I tried with retroarch and they give me the same result as in retroplayer -> back to the retroarch menu.

Make sure both EmuVR.exe and retroarch.exe are using your dedicated video card, and not the integrated one. You can check which card is being used in Task Manager. More info on how to fix that in the following links for Nvidia, AMD, or both.

They should go in this folder only: \EmuVR\RetroArch\system\

(No subfolder after this. No "system\PS1\" or "system\PSX\". It's just "system\")

Example: \EmuVR\RetroArch\system\scph5501.bin

In the same way that a file named "flower.jpg" could have a dog in it, your "scph5501.bin" file might not be actually the file you need on the inside. It could be corrupt or simply the wrong file.

If it shows a different code for the file you're checking (for example, "scph5501.bin" should result in "8d8cb7e4"), your file is incorrect, and you'll need to find a new BIOS file that matches the table above. e24fc04721
