I have an old Canoscan Lide200. I know that the drivers have not been updated and will never be updated but I can still use mine. I go to control panel and tap 'scan'. This will return a message that the scanner is not responding. I close the window and do the same thing a second time. This time, it works.

At first you set up 'scanner' from 'system preference' --> 'Printers & Scanners' and add with + button, then CanoScan LiDE 200, then 'open scanner...', but after a while it says failed due to drivers broken or similar. but don't freak out please, actually I did.

Hi all, I have some family photos from the past I'd like to scan and digitize. I also have a Canon Lide 110 entry level flatbed scanner which I could use to scan them, but would a budget scanner like the 110 be enough for archiving years' worth of family pictures? I did a few tests though, and noticed that all photos, once scanned, showed up with a slight loss in contrast and colour saturation (which I later fixed in Photoshop), and as the majority of prints were made on matte paper, the bumpy texture of the paper showed up on the final scan, which was quite annoying. This I painstakingly fixed with the Noiseware plugin, albeit with a little loss of detail.

Are there any scanners out there that scan without the paper texture showing up? Like, scanning the image from two angles and then combining them?

I'm not interested in buying any expensive high end scanners since I have only around 2000 prints left in my collection, and I don't need to scan slides and negatives as my local lab offers decent quality film scans. So, will some PSing be enough to get the best out of my current scanner or will I have to go for a better machine? Any help would be appreciated...

However, you could experiment with scanning first then turning the photo 90degrees on the scanner bed and scanning again, then combining them in Photoshop. I also believe that Photoshop has some "de-texturing" filters that might help.

With its sleek and compact design, the Canon LiDE 110 scanner is a popular product for users that require a full-color image scanner. As the product specification states, the scanner should be able to produce photographic scans of up to 2400 x 4800 Optical DPI. However, some users have run into problems with the scanner only being able to create black scans at very low quality. To resolve the Canon LiDE 110 black scan problem, this guide will assist with the required troubleshooting steps and solutions.

Although traditionally scanner manufacturers provided drivers as standalone software, modern scanners come with enhanced functionalities that add additional features from the application. The CanoScan software bundles all the required software into the application, including the scanner driver. Therefore, instead of just updating the driver from the Device Manager, it is necessary to remove the software first and reinstall the latest version provided by Canon.

The Canon LiDE 110 scanner has a manual lock switch that may cause issues if not set to the unlock position. As Canon recommends always locking this switch during transport, your scanner may produce lower quality images if not switched to the correct position before you use the scanner.

Unfortunately, many of those scanners stopped working when Canon stopped supporting them. Our product, VueScan, solves this problem by independently reverse engineering the driver for those scanners, and bundling it within VueScan. The CanoScan LiDE scanners are some of the most popular models to use with VueScan and many users are very happy that they get to continue using their scanner instead of having to throw it away and get a new one.

For some reason, many of the cables that that Canon included with LiDE scanners often go bad. This has been reported to us by many customers and so we often to suggest to customers that one of the first ways to fix the situation is to use a different USB cable. You may have another one lying around (or being used by another peripheral like a printer) or you may

Similarly, the connection problem can often be solved by using a different USB port. This problem might be caused because the port on the machine is faulty. Or it might be caused by the port running through a hub that is underpowered given the power requirements of a bus-powered scanner without a dedicated power-supply.
