(by choosing one of the other models there), you could perhaps carry out an experiment with something similar to a procedure suggested by Matti Haveri in a discussion Samsung ML-1640 laser printer (usb only) - Apple Community. A Samsung SCX-4623 Series 1.08.01 printer driver is listed in Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support. This may or may not work with your printer. As always, make sure that you have backup copies of all important files before testing anything at all.

It is also worth noting that the Samsung Xpress M2070FW is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a model supporting Apple's AirPrint technology. This means that printing should not require an extra driver, provided that the M2070FW and the Mac computer are connected to the same network. AirPrint works with wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) network connections, so you could choose to wire this printer by Ethernet to one of the LAN ports of the Wi-Fi router (instead of connecting wirelessly), if you so wish. This way, some of the difficulties related to Wi-Fi may be avoided.

Would the exact printer model be SCX-4824FN? That is, do you have a network printer (Ethernet)? If so, is the actual printer connection via Ethernet (via a switch/router), or are you using USB directly from the computer?

I have Macos ventura 13.6.2 and Samsung scx-4828fn. I tried the universal driver and installing the specific samsung scanner app. The installation was successful, the scanner is now detected in image capture, although it cannot communicate with the scanner. I get an error message that the os cannot open the samsung scanner app, there's a risk of malicious software, so it needs to be updated by samsung. Can you help me? Thanks!

hey, a bit off topic question, I downloaded the files from the first link you recommended but the softwares didn't seem to work for my samsung printer. I'm new to macOS and I was just wondering whether you could help me with the uninstallation? the uninstaller included in the downloaded file doesn't work as well. thank you

This thread has been so useful for folks, I hope I can find a match for my situation. I have Sonoma running on Apple silicon, and trying to get my Samsung SCX-4623F to work. I'm trying several drivers from the universal driver download but not luck. Any pointers? Thanks!

I just bought a Samsung Xpress c-460 multifunctional color laser printer. The apple drivers only go back to OS 10.5. Does anyone know of a universal printer driver that would work with my Macbook (intel) OS 10.4.11?

Sorry, no I don't have the Generic Postscript Color driver. I so have many others. Do you know where I can download this driver to my computer? I tried color sync as you suggested but that did not work. In Color Model it only has grayscale and inverted gray scale. Currently I am using the Generic PCL 5e printer driver, because it was the last one I tested, not for any other reason.

"Important: For color printers SpliX needs color profiles from the printer's manufacturer, otherwise it will refuse to print. Please see the instructions in the INSTALL file of the driver's source package."

I have had another thought. I investigated updating my software, but apple reports that I have the latest update. However, because I have an intel Mac, I found out that I can upgrade to Snow Leopard, since I have the Intel duo core with 1 MB of memory. This would solve my problem as the current driver for this Samsung Printer can use OS 10.5 or above? What do you think, should I buy the Snow Leopard upgrade from Apple? Will it work on my computer?

Thanks. I would give this a try but I have run into a problem with upgrading to 10.6. When I tried to update to the combined 10.6.8 package, it keeps giving me a download error and says that it can't be installed. On top of the that my browser keeps crashing. Until I get this resolved I will not be able to try your suggestion. Thanks again.

While running multiple Windows Server 2008 R2 RDSH farms we are experiencing an issue where the RDSH servers all are having their Registry bloated to the maximum value 2048MB. Using Sysinternals Registry Usage (ru.exe) we were able to determine over 1000MB of the registry being used up by Samsung Universal Printer related keys.

Taking one of the servers out of the mix I tried cleaning up these keys and was able to. Cleaning the ".Default" section also cleaned the "S-1-5-18" keys, so I'm thinking these are a reference link within the Registry. When I did it I cleared the HKU\.default\Printers\DevModes2 as well since this section would not even open in Regedit. In order to remove I had to CLI the to remove the "DevModes2" key and then recreate the key in Regedit.

As soon as I login with an account that has a printer deployed to them with the Samsung Universal Print Driver these keys start appearing and bloat out the registry. Because the registry is so filled up we have been experiencing User Profile issues causing Temporary Profiles to load. When we disabled the ability to have a Temporary Profile the users then may run into a "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded." message.

I had the exact same issue and can confirm it is fixed in the new version of Samsung Universal Print Driver 2 (2.50.5) . I was also running 2.50.2 and the key in question was using 275MB. Simply uninstalling the old version and installing the new version on the server (I did not update any client drivers) reduced the size of the key to 3MB. I also tried logging on and back off and can confirm it now deletes the keys when you log off, unlike before.

If you're curious, before it would not delete the keys. In a single user environment this isn't a problem but since the printers are named for the user and the session, it is an exponential problem (for a 20 user server like mine you generate up to 400 keys... and that's if you only have 1 printer per client)

HP has this exact same problem. The issue is that the driver is not very smart when it comes to multiple users connected to the same printer mapping at the same time and it keeps trying to reinstall itself for each user. We never figured out exactly how to fix this, but we came up with two workarounds:

Solution A (easy fix but is a total hack)

Set the Windows Installer service to disabled. Stops the problem dead in its tracks. The downside is obvious though. As soon as you need to do an install or run updates, you must turn the service back on and the registry will immediately begin swelling again.

Solution B (ugly fix but is stable and supported)

Enforce the Remote Desktop EasyPrint driver via Group Policy. This makes print jobs render on the clients instead of the server. The downside here is that you will then need to manually remove every user's printer connection from every printer on every server in the farm, and then delete the drivers. I hope you're good with scripting!

I have scx-3200 scanner/printer. I've just bought a new (Windows 10, 64 bit) PC. I plugged in the USB & it has installed the printer & it is working. But I can't work out how to scan. www.samsung.com says "Sorry. We weren't able to find any results for your search" when I search for 3200, or scx-3200, or scx 3200. Come on Samsung, even if you don't support it, couldn't you at least say "Sorry this product is no longer supported. Splash out & buy a new one" or something.

There is another option you could try, however there is a chance that the software is too new for the printer. But if you'd like to give it a go, you can try printing using the Easy Document Creator scanning software, which can be downloaded here.

Click "Install Software Only" at the bottom of the home page, then you should see the Easy Document Creator. When asked to select your printer model choose type: colour multifunction and model: SL-C460W. This will then bring up a list of software - select EDC and install it.

I AM SO FRUSTRATED BY THIS, MAYBE SOMEONE CAN HELP, I HAVE SAMSUNG M2670FN - NEW OUT OF THE BOX, AFTER 6 MONTH OF WORKING PERFECTLY I DID THE WIN 10 UPDATE - SENSE THEN THE TOP SCANNER (THE ONE USED FOR MULTIPUL SCANS) DONT WORK AND SHOW A MESSAGE NOT AVAILABLE, THIS IS A PAIN BECAUSE WE SCAN LOTS OF PAGES AND GO ONE BY ONE IS USLESS.

I am trying to get an old printer working for a family member. The printer itself is working fine but I can't find a way to print from Windows 10 to that printer, the drivers for that printer no longer support the most modern versions of Windows.

Luckily, I was able to print to that printer using Ubuntu and I shared the printer using the GUI. The Windows machine was able to see it but still asked me for a driver before being able to print to it.

Just a little note: I will eventually use a Raspberry Pi for this (I have none that I can use right now), so if there something I might need to know that will be different on a Pi (else then the GUI), please let me know! 152ee80cbc
