My approach is similar, but a bit more effective. I set the silent ring as my default, and then assign other ring tones to specific contacts. So by default, all incoming calls are silent, but family and friends ring their assigned audible ringtones.

I'm on iphone 13pm.. ios 15.6. Is there any way to have a silent ringtone? I want to leave my phone notifications on during the day, but I don't really do phone calls so having incredibly loud ringtones (thanks for maximizing volume no matter what apple /s ) when I get spam is annoying and shocking. I would like to add a silent ringtone as an option but when I created a file with silence in it and imported it... ios did the "maximize gain" thing so instead of silence I get VERY LOUD HISS!! Import process was to make a file with 1 second of silence in audacity and then use garage band to convert it into a "ringtone", fwiw.

My computer will start ringing when I get a call or FaceTime on my phone, and I know how to change the ringtone on the Mac, but I don't know if its possible to turn it off or at least make it quieter, as the ringtone is always at like full volume no matter what volume my AirPods are at. I'd love to know if I could somehow turn off or lower the ringer volume while still getting phone calls, otherwise, I'm okay with disconnecting my phone calls from my computer, I'd just rather not.

Until the recent ios14 update I have not had any trouble with this. I used to have a bypass on a couple of contacts, but deleted that a while ago. Yet I have some contacts listed as my favourite to make it more accessible to call them. When in silent mode I expect my phone to be silent, yet it manages to sound a ringtone for these favourite contacts even though I did not instruct it to. I've had these specific contacts in my favourites for quite some years now, and this seems to be a very recent problem. I cannot find any buttons to turn it off, and the internet/Q&A's don't give me any answers that have worked up until now. So the big question is: how do I turn off the setting that my favourite contacts ring even when on silent mode?! I just want it to be silent then ....

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having trouble with your iPhone. When the iPhone is set to silent mode, the phone still rings for your favorites contacts. We're happy to help. Have you checked your Do Not Disturb settings? There is an option to "Allow Calls From Favorites."

I am building an alarm clock app, and when the phone is silent, i want it to play the alarm but keep the phone mode on silent. The alarm app I have right now (defualt samsung / android stock one) keeps the phone on silent mode but you still hear the alarm.

I've gotten to a point where the phone knows when it's silent or in vibrate mode, but it doesn't play the ringtone, it just either vibrates or doesn't make a noise. How do I make it so it plays the ringtone no matter what, but keeps the audio state the way it was?

I have had several requests for a silent ringtone option. Users want to see the call coming in, just not hear it. The other thing is that when they pick up the physical phone, the app will continue to ring which is bothering them. I went into Notifications and turned off sounds, but that didn't work.

There isn't an option to silence the ringtone on the computer desktop client app; however, you can select from several ringtones which are a little more subtle than the default. The options are in the app Settings> Audio. See attached screenshot. If you do not wish to at all, you can also set your Status in the app to 'Away' or 'Do Not Disturb', or sign out/quit the app.

Would LOVE to have a silent ring tone. I don't have a desk phone, just the app and I've gone through every single ring tone at this point. None are good options. Zoom, please let us have the option for no ringtone or silent.

Luckily there is a way to mute ringtones but keep the call notification around. This means your iPhone will ring, but other devices will stay silent and just show you the incoming call, giving you an option to answer them or hang up right there.

Go to System Preferences/Notifications, find FaceTime in the list and turn off "Play sound for notifications". This way macOS will show all incoming FaceTime, FaceTime Audio, and regular phone calls in the top right, but your Mac gonna stay silent.

For some reason, there is no way to disable sound for call notifications on iOS and iPadOS, although there is a workaround: you can create a silent ringtone using GarageBand or you can buy one from the iTunes Store (buying will also make it available for your other iOS devices).

You can change or silence the ringtone associated with your Zoom phone number. You can also change the ringtone for other Zoom phone numbers that ring on your line if you have delegated access to another line or are part of a shared line group.

Now, open iTunes and click on File. Hit Add to library and open your file. This uploads it onto the app. To make sure it will work as a ringtone, select File > Convert > Create AAC Version.

I always use my iPhone in silent mode and do not want any notification sounds except for calls. I would prefer that calls (from anyone) always rings, no matter if I am in Do Not Disturb mode or not. Since people only call me for very important things. Currently, I could set it up such that call notifications are displayed in the Do Not Disturb mode, but I cannot get the phone to actually ring so mostly I will just miss the call and notice it later as I don't check my phone often. Updated the phone to iOS 16.

This article from Apple's iPhone User Guide for iOS 16 regarding the "silent mode" activated by the physical switch on the left side, clearly states that silent mode is just silent (and full stop):

However there is an exception to this rule: iPhone WILL always ring for an incoming call if you customize the contact ringtone, regardless of silent mode or focus mode. To do that open the phone app > click a contact > click edit (upper right) > click ring tone or sms tone (right under email) > click "emergency exception" to turn ON.

I am using Zoiper for Android on Lenovo 7000 phone. For some reason I cannot turn on ring tone for incoming calls. I went into SIP account - Ringtone and set up a ringtone and it still does not ring. In Audio menu I was only able to turn on vibration for incoming calls. How can I turn on ringtone for incoming calls?

Hey buddy

Make sure your device is not in silent mode, Try cleaning cache files and resetting android app. if still doesn't help. try updating android os and search for zoiper update. Hope my comment adds value herre and resolves your query. Cheers

I just bought and setup the wired doorbell and connected it to my existing chime box. When someone comes to the door I get a notification to say it's detected a person, then they press the bell button and I get the sound from my chime box and then both mine and my wife's phones ring with the same ringtones we have setup for a normal phonecall (my wife is setup as a friend so gets the notifications). I see many people have asked this question in the past but can't find anything recently on this. Is there any way to either change the ringtone (eg make it silent or even different so a phonecall is easily distinguished from someone pressing the bell) or to disable only the phonecall when I'm home using geofencing? I see I can arm/disarm using geofencing but I don't want to totally disarm when I'm home. Only stop the phone ringing! I answer the door and my phone is sitting ringing in the background which is very annoying . I have a Samsung phone so running Android. Seems a very basic feature to be missing?

I'll ask again, is this feature which has been requested many times by your customers going to be added at any point? Also the "silent mode" is rubbish. It plays an answer phone style message to the person who presses the bell. Why? If I'm in the house and don't want my phone to ring so turn on silent mode (which actually turns the doorbell to silent mode, meaning all users now have that turned on and not just me), then why would I want the doorbell to play a message to the person who presses it to tell them I'm not home and to leave a message?!?

If you are happy with your Phone's OWN Ringtone playing out over your car's speakers, but you hear nothing but silence when your phone is ringing, then the chances are that the default volume (Zero!) has not been adjusted since you last paired the current mobile device... Simply arrange for someone to call you on your phone with the car all powered up and paired, then using the Car volume controls (on the centre console or steering wheel) turn up the volume whilst the phone is still ringing until you hear your lovely ringtone reverberating throughout the car. Joy! Problem solved! The setting will be remembered for that phone, regardless as to the settings on the actual phone (if you mute your phone sounds the car will still play out your ringtone when you get a call).

Finally, on your car's MMI system go to Phone --> Settings --> Volume and you should find that the Ringtone selection and Ringtone Volume settings have reappeared! Simply select the ringtone you desire, and the volume at which you'd like to hear it, and then arrange one final test of being called on your phone to hear your desired choice of Audi Ringtone massage your ears and bring that smile back to your face.

Just switch off vibratory mode to calls if switched on and try this method. Your phone will start ringing once the caller calls you, but the ringtone will not be audible to anyone around the phone. The ringtone will be a 0-decibel plain mp3 file. Follow the following steps to activate this hack.

You can change a contact's ringtone through the Phone app. Open the Phone app and tap the Contacts tab at the bottom, then select the contact whose ringtone you want to change. Tap Edit in the top right corner of the contact's page. Tap Ringtone, then select a non-custom ringtone from the list of available options and then do a test call to see if your iPhone still won't ring. 2351a5e196
