I do want to delete or block the contact I just want there phone calls to be silenced when they call. They have a feature to hide alerts in the messages but I want to silence the contact when they call not block them. In previous versions, you were able to use none as a ringtone, now only alerts such as voicemail, text tone, or email, etc have the none option.

My approach is similar, but a bit more effective. I set the silent ring as my default, and then assign other ring tones to specific contacts. So by default, all incoming calls are silent, but family and friends ring their assigned audible ringtones.

I want the user to be able to select a notification ringtone for my app. I have a custom sound file (an .mp3 file placed in /raw) that I want to be the default notification ringtone. I save/get the chosen ringtones uris in/from the Shared Preferences this way:

My issue seems to be with the EXTRA_RINGTONE_EXISTING_URI line. When the user picks a system ringtone and comes back to the picker, the ringtone is correctly checked. But when the user picks 'none' or 'default notification sound' (my custom sound) and comes back to the picker, nothing's checked.

Everything else in my code (not shown here) is ok - when I pick any ringtone (including the custom one), the sound is correctly assigned to my notifications. When I pick 'none', no sound is played. That means the correct URIs are being saved to SharedPref.

EDIT: Figured it out. Turned out to be the Ring App causing the issue. Whenever I got a ring notification, my ringtone would get set to None. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Ring App and it appears to have fixed it.

So with this crap of an update to OS 12 apparently now you can't have a ringtone set of silent? You can just lower the volume to the lowest but you can't turn it off completely what kind of a lame-ass decision is that? Oh and you can download system UI tuner to turn off status bar icons since OnePlus decided to remove some of those options with this color OS crap.

There isn't an option to silence the ringtone on the computer desktop client app; however, you can select from several ringtones which are a little more subtle than the default. The options are in the app Settings> Audio. See attached screenshot. If you do not wish to at all, you can also set your Status in the app to 'Away' or 'Do Not Disturb', or sign out/quit the app.

Would LOVE to have a silent ring tone. I don't have a desk phone, just the app and I've gone through every single ring tone at this point. None are good options. Zoom, please let us have the option for no ringtone or silent.

Luckily there is a way to mute ringtones but keep the call notification around. This means your iPhone will ring, but other devices will stay silent and just show you the incoming call, giving you an option to answer them or hang up right there.

For some reason, there is no way to disable sound for call notifications on iOS and iPadOS, although there is a workaround: you can create a silent ringtone using GarageBand or you can buy one from the iTunes Store (buying will also make it available for your other iOS devices).

When using "Eset Mobile Security", at least for version 6.1.13.0-0 (currently the latest) on Android 11, on Samsung S20 - if the feature of "Call Filter" is enabled - incoming calls will make no sound, as if the phone was set to "Silent", even if if all the other phone settings are set to make you hear a sound (a valid ringtone sound file was selected, the sound volume is high enough, "do not disturb" is disabled and so on).

Just switch off vibratory mode to calls if switched on and try this method. Your phone will start ringing once the caller calls you, but the ringtone will not be audible to anyone around the phone. The ringtone will be a 0-decibel plain mp3 file. Follow the following steps to activate this hack.

Now, open iTunes and click on File. Hit Add to library and open your file. This uploads it onto the app. To make sure it will work as a ringtone, select File > Convert > Create AAC Version.

4. Go to My sounds and press the Add (+) button. The File manager app will open. Go to the Downloads folder and select the Silent ringtone that you downloaded above. Press the Save button.

10. Leave it at the beginning of the clip. Touch and hold the clip above the silent ringtone and choose Delete from the menu. That will leave only the downloaded Silent clip on the panel.

3. Scroll down and you will see the silent ringtone that you created in GarageBand. Tap on it to use it. Tap on Vibration and select None at the bottom if you want to turn off vibration for the contact or create your own custom vibration. Press the Done button.

Whether you're trying to train people to text you instead of gabbing your ear off or you just really hate phone calls in general, it's easy to set your phone up so calls are silent but text messages, app notifications, and other alerts are still audible. To do this, we're going to take a page from our tutorial on creating silent-but-vibrating alarms on iOS, but add some guidance to make this trick work on iOS, Android, or any mobile platform that allows for custom ringtones.

The first order of business is to get your hands on a silent ringtone---an audio file that is literally nothing but a span of silence. This allows your phone to "ring", but you won't actually hear it.

Getting a silent ringtone is easy: you can buy them in app stores (typically for a nominal fee of $0.99 or so), or you can create them yourself using free audio editors like Audacity to make 10-20 second clips of dead air. Alternatively, you can download and transfer this simple silent ringtone we made for you---the ZIP file contains an MP3 file for Android and other mobile OSes and an M4R file for iOS.

If you have an iPhone and you didn't go the pay-for-a-ringtone route, you'll need to jump through the iTunes hoop. Download the ZIP file, extract the .M4R ringtone file, and then drag and drop it into iTunes. The file will end up in the "Tones" category of iTunes. Just selectively sync "SilentRing" as shown below.

There are two things to attend to here. First, tap "Vibration" and select "None" as your vibration pattern. Next, tap "SilentRing" at the top of your "Ringtones" list. iOS puts your imported ringtones right at the top.

Perhaps you only resorted to using a silent ringtone because you were getting a huge number of spam calls and calls from people you didn't really want to talk to. If you still want to hear the ringer when your good friends, spouse, or kids call, that's no problem. You can use the silent ringtone as your default, global ringtone, and then set individual ringtones for individual contacts.

We've covered this trick in depth for iOS, but in short, open each individual contact and tweak the ringtone there. In iOS, you do this by tapping "Ringtone" on the main contact page, and then selecting any ringtone but the "SilentRing" we just uploaded.

We've also covered the details for setting ringtones for specific contacts in Android. Short version: open the Contacts app, find the contact you want to edit, tap the three button menu in the upper-right corner, and then choose the "Set Ringtone" command.

You can even take this little trick and build on it. If, for example, you want to keep your ringer on but you want to no longer hear the constant chiming of other notifications (like those from apps) you can dig back into the Sounds menu and switch those to the SilentRing, too. You could even keep your global ringtone set to whatever you like and assign the silent ringtone just to individual contacts for whom you don't want the phone to ring.

If you are happy with your Phone's OWN Ringtone playing out over your car's speakers, but you hear nothing but silence when your phone is ringing, then the chances are that the default volume (Zero!) has not been adjusted since you last paired the current mobile device... Simply arrange for someone to call you on your phone with the car all powered up and paired, then using the Car volume controls (on the centre console or steering wheel) turn up the volume whilst the phone is still ringing until you hear your lovely ringtone reverberating throughout the car. Joy! Problem solved! The setting will be remembered for that phone, regardless as to the settings on the actual phone (if you mute your phone sounds the car will still play out your ringtone when you get a call).

Finally, on your car's MMI system go to Phone --> Settings --> Volume and you should find that the Ringtone selection and Ringtone Volume settings have reappeared! Simply select the ringtone you desire, and the volume at which you'd like to hear it, and then arrange one final test of being called on your phone to hear your desired choice of Audi Ringtone massage your ears and bring that smile back to your face.

A. Silent ringtones might sound like an oxymoron at first. They do have their use, however. There are times, for example, you'd like to mute a specific caller without silencing the whole phone. Just assign a silent ringtone to that contact. Of course, if you have the new iOS 6, it has a Do Not Disturb feature. You can schedule a time period to silence all calls, except those from contacts on a favorites list. Don't forget you can also send calls directly to voicemail by double-clicking the iPhone's power button.

The silence of the night was shattered. Passengers who were blissfully asleep lullabied by the chugging train frowned as they were rudely awakened. It took a few seconds to realise that the culprit was none other than the loud blaring ringtone of a gentleman's mobile phone. e24fc04721
