The information that lobsterghost1 provided is the way to change the Calendar Alert sound. Not sure why it was of no use. I'm only aware of 2 places to change the calendar alert, but no matter. You do not explain what happens when you change the sound.

Thanks for posting here in Apple Support Communities. It appears that you've set the alert correctly and what you're hearing is expected behavior. We'd recommend that you leave any feedback or suggestions regarding this to Apple using the link here: Product Feedback

As many other people on the internet have noted, it seems very strange that you can choose from a long list of ringtones and alerts under the setting for Calendar alerts, but all you hear when the calendar triggers is a very quick blip noise. In a noisy environment, this slight blip noise is easy to miss.

Since I first posted I have been able to get my iPhone to do audio alerts from the calendar with all of my events also appearing in Outlook. (I have my calendar linked to iCloud and linked to four Windows 10 computers in addition to the iPhone.) I usually set audio alerts before the term begins to go off 10 minutes before each of my classes, which is a total of about 280 alerts. The alert called 'minuet' is loud enough and fairly annoying, so I can't ignore it. There are still many strange things that I can't explain. If I change the notification sound to "by the seaside' which is a ringtone, I still hear 'minuet' even though I made the change in several places in the settings app on the iPhone. I also must put my Apple Watch in my truck if I want to get audio alerts. It turns out that the Alerts make the Watch sort of buzz, but 'minuet' does not play, so I changed the Watch setting to Prominent which does not help much. My belief is that if you change the Watch settings so that you can get audio alerts on the iPhone, then the Watch more-or-less just becomes an ordinary watch. If I did not have to work so much on my real job, then perhaps I could do more experiments with the Watch and iPhone. I have not been able to find a precise description( I write computer programs sometimes) of exactly how the watch and phone work, and it takes a lot of time searching the internet hoping to figure anything out.

Since last Friday, when I upgraded FeePBX to 14.0.5.25 (now core is at version 14.0.18.49) and Asterisk to 13.22.0, distinctive ringtone on my Cisco SPA 303 phones did not work any more.

After last upgrade the phones rung the same (default) tone independently on the source of the call, while, before upgrading, they rung differently when the call came from inside or outside.

Need to protect your room from intruders? Hang the Star Trek Electronic Door Chime on the wall by your door and when someone crosses the threshold it will alert you with a sound: the door opening sound or Red Alert alarm (your choice!).

Ok guys, I tried everything but cannot find this - iPhone 11 pro has amazing speakers, and system sounds are too loud even when I lower the volume, but when I do that also the ringtone volume gets lower, but I need my ringtone a bit louder so I could hear it, but in that case system sounds alert my whole damn office when I receive a message or a notification.

Hey I just updated my OMEN Gaming Hub on my Omen 30L and noticed that now when I launch games it starts the booster, it plays an obnoxious 5-6 second long ringtone noise? I can't find anything in an actual settings window to disable this, other than just disabling the notification altogether. However I'd like to still have the notification pop up like it used to, just without this added "song" that plays.

I have a D40 phone and Asterisk 11.2.1. I am developing a custom app for the phone. I would like the phone to use separate ringtones, depending on who is calling me. For example, one for my boss, a different one for co-workers, yet a different one for friends, and so forth.

I can gain control using digium.observe.event, for event name digium.phone.incoming_call. This seems to be a logical place to make a ringtone decision, if one can be made. I can identify the caller at that point. There is a lot of good information available to the callback routine. However, I cannot find any information about setting or selecting the ringtone that would be used to announce the call, once the call (SIP INVITE) comes into the phone.

Anyway, it provisions now. The original reported problems with associating Alert-Info headers with phone ringtones is resolved. I can pick and choose the ringing tone, based on values supplied for the INVITE Alert-Info header. This is good. Thank you for the help with this.

Also, when I call the phone from another SIP phone (a softphone on a laptop next to the Digium phone), in addition to getting the desired ringtone, the phone answers on the first ring thru the speaker. I never get to lift up the hand set.

I was wondering how I could play a notification sound without playing it over the media stream. Right now I can do this via the media player, however I don't want it to play as a media file, I want it to play as a notification or alert or ringtone. heres an example of what my code looks like right now:

The Android expected behaviour is to use the standard Notification to alert the user. If you play a notification sound without the status bar icon, you get the user confused ("what was that sound? there is no icon here, maybe I have hearing problems?").

I'm trying to get different ringtones for internal vs external calls on our SPA508's. I am able to set the alert field to one of the built in ringtones when an external call comes in but I can't specify a custom ringtone. Is this possible with the current firmware?

I'm assuming you've already loaded a custom ring to position 12 or 13 in the phone. So in the alert-info, you're able to use the rings built in which populate postions 2-11, correct? Then when you try 12 or 13 with your custom ring tone, that isn't played?

What I'm trying to do is set alert_info on incoming calls to play #12, BusinessDouble. The default ring tone will be set as Alternate. This should allow us to differentiate between incoming calls vs transfers and internal calls. Unfortunately my client seems to really hate all the built in ring tones with a passion.

If you wish to set an audio or music file as a message notification or ringtone, the audio file must be placed into the corresponding folder in the My Files app. Once is it stored in the correct folder, you can set the audio file as your notification sound or ringtone. Follow the below guide to learn how to customise your Notification sounds on your Galaxy smartphone.

If we create an alert through the Opsgenie app, the volume settings are overwritten, as expected. But if we call our on duty phone number, without creating an alert, we do receive the call, but the volume settings are being kept in silent mode.

Thanks for asking! From Princess' response it appears as though there is no way to select tones to be played by the iPhone whenever a camera detects something. The only option is to turn sound off or on. I think this is a missing feature. I think the default alert tone for camera alerts is quite moderate - and I would like to be able to select a more aggressive ringtone for camera alerts.

The Approach S70 does not have an audible alert tone other than the vibration function for alarm sounds on the watch. From the menu Clocks > Alarms > The switch next to the alarm will show green set ON or gray if OFF.

Hopefully, the Approach S70 featuring a simple sound beep was not the primary reason you went with this model. The vibration alert is offered, and can be felt allowing the user to not be alerted, and is especially useful if using the music features on the watch.

Hi,

I want to hear ringtones for calls but only vibrating for messages etc.

(Because i dont like to miss calls, and vibrating is a nice deal between nothing and beeping)

On samsung devices you have since years different volume bars for that and i thought it would be a general android feature.

( its something you cant do on iOS at all)

The way you tried the Alert-Info forces the phone to download the ringtone during call setup right before ringing, so timing is important. Doing internet access over DECT is way more complicated than on a ethernet connected desk phone. Especially setting up the internet access connection over DECT takes a considerable amount of time. So I can understand why this doesn't work for DECT phones.

I suggest you try a different method for custom ringtones: configure them in the phone config file and assign them an info-ID. The phone then loads the ringtone during bootup. You then send the info-ID in the Alert-Info instead of the URL during invite. The different methods are documented here: -SIP-Phones/FAQ-How-can-I-change-my-Ringtone-or-Ring-in-a-speci...

How did you add the ringtone to the phone? Via the web interface or with a XML provisioning file and the saf.x option? Start with saf.2, do not use saf.1 as this was reported to have a hardcoded meaning (IIRC some welcome sound).

You probably know that you can change the ringtone on your iPhone. What you may not know, is that you can customize many sounds on your iOS device - in fact, nearly all iPhone notification sounds can be changed to your own music or fun effects:

Important: Even for alert sounds, iOS will play the entire audio track as long as it's shorter than 30 seconds. Do you really who want to hear a 30 second long snippet of music whenever you receive a text message? Probably not, so trimming your audio before you transfer it to your iPhone is highly recommended. There are quite a few high quality free audio editors to help you do just that:

The device has three volume profiles to choose from. Use the volume keys to scroll up and down to the desired profile. Set a time limit for silence or priority interruptions, after which all alerts will be allowed.

Some users prefer to have different ringtones in order to differentiate external calls from internal calls. Another usage would be to set to use the "Silent" ringtone only for calls from external numbers. e24fc04721
