i have the same problem with my RX100M4 in that it does not display the QR code when I'm trying to set up the add location function from play memories mobile app on my iPhone. I have already set up the connection to the phone using SSID and password and can transfer images and can remotely control the camera from the phone. However, I cannot enable the add location function on the phone by following the instructions on play memories mobile help as the QR code cannot be displayed on the camera. (Pressing the delete button on my camera has no effect when on the screen showing wifi info).

With a shutter button and zoom toggle the QX100 and QX10 are able to operate as standalone cameras (albeit without an LCD or any way of checking composition) but they're designed to work in concert with a smartphone by way of Sony's PlayMemories Mobile app. Establish a connection between the devices, open up the app and your mobile device acts as the camera's LCD. Included with each unit is a mount that clamps to the backside of a smartphone.

Sony has announced a pair of mobile photography camera/lens modules, the QX10 and QX100. Both units are essentially self-contained cameras that can be controlled by smartphones, using Wi-Fi.
