Looking at getting myself a scope - I've a background of more CE rather than EE, although my education is in communication systems, so have a bare modicum of the essentials. I've been hankering after a Rigol DS1054Z - it looks perfect in every way for what I want to do with it, but with one issue, I MOSTLY use it for automotive related things (not exclusively, but 85% I'd say), which means it's a real pain to rig up possibly in the middle of a workshop with no power, no bench to put it on, probably balanced ontop the car/engine, which is why I'm drawn to something like the offerings from Pico...
Im looking at spending around the 300 mark, which I am fully aware barely gets me the oscilloscope equivalent of a packet of crisps, but I can't really justify spending much more since it's not a tool I'll be using every day - this isn't needing to be used for accurate measurement, rather very basic debugging and quick simple "sanity checking" of automotive signals, I'm not using it for decoding CAN, but the Serial decode function on the DS1054Z you can get does look nice for other projects...
