I always wanted to play piano but never had any chance or equipment, now I have budget for it so I was gonna buy a 88 key digital piano but then I thought about buying a 61 key midi keyboard cause I can learn how to play piano and can get into DAWs and making beats sooner or later.

I guess the best option for playing piano is Oxygen Pro between these 3 cause it has semi-weighted keys and others don't but I'm pretty open to yall recommendetions, naturally the keyboard should have minimum 61 keys and controls like pads, faders etc.

Looking to buy a keyboard, nothing to pricey, just a beginner phase, maybe a couple hundred dollars. I'd like to learn to play piano, I have played as a kid but I'm relearning. I would also hope to be able to plug this into certain beat making programs if possible like mpc beats and my focusrite.

I want to make an effect of continuous key(note) press for three beats . Say key C4, Key D4 and Key E4 pressed for 3 beats simultaneously without taking finger from keys in piano/keyboard. How can I do it in spi.

The Casio CTS-300 has 61 full sized box-shaped (piano style) synth action keys. The key width on these is a fraction narrower (about 1 mm) than those on my Yamaha P-125, but not all piano keys are exactly the same width. So while the keys are piano sized and shaped, they are not weighted or semi-weighted, so they will feel nothing like the keys on a real or weighted digital piano. They do have a nice texture on them as opposed to being glossy which is a rare feature at this price point.

The Casio CTS-300 has a quick access Panel Sustain button which allows you to toggle an automatic sustain on or off. Of course this removes the ability for you to control the sustain, but it also frees up the pedal to be used for another function (soft, sostenudo, or more likely for starting & stopping rhythms). And since this keyboard is meant to be super portable, this is an option to keep from having to bring a pedal with you.

Speakers: The speakers are definitely not the greatest out there, but sound decent enough for only 5 watts. If you were to try and use the CTS-300 for busking or any actual performance usage, you will need some external amplification. Here is a quick video capturing the main piano sound on a basic lapel microphone out of the keyboard speakers, followed by out of a set of basic studio monitors (and yes the reverb is turned up a bit):

If you are looking for an app to get started on learning piano, I would highly recommend checking out flowkey (there is a free version with limited functionality you can check out by following my affiliate link):

The Casio CTS-300 really is a massive value; for approximately $150USD, you are getting a ridiculously portable keyboard (small size, low weight, battery compatible and even has a handle) with decent tones, rhythms & accompaniment, USB connectivity (MIDI compatible), an audio in port, full sized textured keys and a decent synth action. The only things I really wish Casio had included (which would make this keyboard an even easier choice) would be the ability to layer sounds, and to save some registrations. If you are looking for portability, fun and decent sounds for a crazy low price, you cannot go wrong with this keyboard.

That's the question seemingly asked by YouTuber Jachael123, who hooked up a real-life MIDI keyboard in order to play his way through the blocky world of Minecraft. As shown in the highlights reel video below, he managed to work his way up from hitting trees to hitting the ender dragon, using only the power of the black and white keys. I can't say it's the most tuneful piece to listen to, but it sure is entertaining. Must be a modern composition.

This isn't the first time someone has played Minecraft using a piano keyboard - as explained in the full playthrough on Jachel123's secondary channel, the inspiration for this endeavour came from YouTuber Dylan Tallchief, who managed to get one working back in August 2019. Jachael123 asked to use Tallchief's key-binding preset (using the program Bome MIDI Translator Pro), and took it to another level by completing the entire game with the piano. From my brief search around the internet, Jachael123 appears to be the first person to have completed Minecraft with a piano.

The way this works is that some of the keys allow the player to move the cursor up and down, while others are bound to what would normally be used for movement on PC (WASD). Apparently it feels pretty slow to control, "like using the arrow keys on your keyboard", or "just like using a controller, but the movement isn't as smooth".

The playlist explains Jachael123's struggles in full, and the final ender dragon battle is particularly impressive - particularly given the piano controls made it difficult to avoid looking at endermen. Jachael123 even managed to pull off some impressive moves using a water bucket to break his fall. The entire effort took seven and a half hours, while the final fight last one and a half hours - during which Jachael123 died "at least five times". As my piano teacher would say, practice makes perfect.

Music producers have long been using the best resources to create beats and music with. Hip-hop and EDM music are both styles of music that require catchy and fun beats for their tracks.

It comes with a full-color screen with 12 knobs and 16 drum pads. The best feature on this keyboard is it comes with aftertouch for the keys. This is extremely useful and can give the musician amazing textures.

The Roland FA series is an affordable option by Roland and also one of the most popular. The keys on this workstation feel like real ivory keys which is really hard to find on a keyboard. The customization is really nice on this product as it has faders that allow you to mix and tweak sounds to your liking.

The Korg Nautilus is a very powerful keyboard that is used by a lot of hip-hop producers currently. It has 9 different sound engines and a nice feature is how easy the screen is to use. For musicians who are touring, you can set different set-lists that contain all of your different sounds.

All of the drum sounds might seem a little thin at first with this keyboard, but you can tweak and edit them to your liking. The 88 hammer-action keys are a big plus as they feel just like a real piano. You can sample and install different sounds with this as well.

The Yamaha Montage is one of the premier beat maker keyboards available. This is so powerful that it will take years to learn all of the features and effects you can use with it. It has a fantastic key-bed and a purely analog circuit. This is extremely rare in a workstation and one of the nicest things about it.

Experience: Do you have any sort of background in keyboards or playing the piano? If you come from a classical or jazz background and you know how to play, you might want to look at workstations as the key-beds are typically better. MIDI controllers typically have a smaller number of keys and they can have weak key-beds.

Time signatures, or meter signatures, are the notations in sheet music that guide the rhythmic structure of a piece. They are represented by two numbers stacked vertically at the beginning of a score. The upper number indicates the number of beats in each measure, while the lower one defines the note value that equals one beat.

Time signatures consist of two elements: a top number and a bottom number. The top number tells us the number of beats in each measure. The bottom number in time signature tells you what note values those beats are. If the bottom number is a 4, it means the beats are quarter notes (four quarter notes in a measure). If the bottom number is 2, it means the note value is half notes(half notes per measure). And if the bottom number is an 8, it means the beats are 8th notes.

Composers use a tempo indication and sometimes a metronome marking to tell you how fast or slow the beat is. The tempo indication, shown above the treble staff at the beginning of the music, is a word or two that describes the beat: fast, slow, moderately fast, and so on. A metronome marking tells you the exact rate of the beat, as measured in beats per minute.
