Windows 10, PDF-XChange Editor Pro v7.0, Wordperfect X8, Word 365 ... viewer hangs when attempting to view files, forcing resort to kill via Task Manager. This may be coincident with upgrade to DOpus 12.8, or other system change lost in the mists of time.
1. PDF files (PDF-Exchange Editor Pro v7.0 installed)
- An attempt to view any PDF file locks up DOPus, forcing a Task Manager [End Task].
- File Explorer fails to view PDF, but does not lock up.
Sometimes you may have multiple viewers and one takes over the extension from the other. The last you install usually wins. You can move the extension around in the plugin config window shown above, but it only affects Opus, not other software that may use the same viewer (File Explorer, Outlook).
On older versions of Opus, we would also try to view PDF files via Internet Explorer. If the Internet Explorer line in your config window has the pdf extension on it, you may be using an old version. Unless you added it back to that line on purpose. (If so, the IE-based viewer is now crashing. File Explorer won't use IE-based viewers, which may be why it is failing instead of crashing.) The Defaults button at the bottom left will reset everything to normal.

When using the pdf button to save say an invoice, pdf xchange editor shows an error: errors detected in the XREF table. When I re-save the pdf and re-open the message is gone. Would it be possible to fix this as while the error message is only visible in Pdf Xchange Editor, the developers state that Manager is not creating pdf compliant documents so other programs like acrobat are just automatically fixing the error.
This error message is presented when we have detected any potential errors in a document that we know how to fix. Generally speaking these issues are often minor, but if left unresolved can lead to larger issues within the document, such as file corruption and data loss.
File has only one XRef section, which describe all objects in file, so this entry is optional. /Size entry is correct, since document has objects with maximum number 185, but /Index entry say that it has only 185 records instead of 186 required, and XRef stream itself does not contain record about last object (185, XRef stream itself). Normally this does not prevent PDF files to be opened by most readers, but does not conform PDF specification.

I am a local admin on my laptop but when I am trying to open pdf file from Outlook and I have Pdf xchange editor as my default pdf app I am getting "Your administrator caused Windows Security to block this action. Contact your help desk." error. It works when you save it first locally. It also works opening pdf straight from Outlook when I use Adobe Acrobat as my default pdf app.
Looks like your issue is more related to Pdf xchange editor and Windows security, based on my research, i found a similar thread as yours. Please refer to the suggestions as Just Brian Tillman mentioned: Your administrator has blocked this action - How to unblock.

If you are experiencing an issue where PDF-XChange Editor cannot open directly from Outlook, first check that the PDF-XChange Editor is the default PDF viewer in Outlook. If it is not, you can set it as the default viewer by going to File > Options > General > Advanced > Use PDF-XChange Editor as the default PDF viewer. If this does not work, you may need to reinstall PDF-XChange Editor. Additionally, you can try resetting the Outlook settings, as this may help resolve the issue.

I have Directory Opus 12 the latest version. The program keeps crashing when I use Tracker software PDF Exchange Editor or Viewer. This has only occurred since I upgraded to version 12 of Opus. I don't remember it happening in previous versions. When I use the PDF Exchange Editor I use program as a viewer the Opus becomes unstable. Maybe Directory Opus plugin to view documents needs updating? This is just a guess. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
