Along with other opposition leaders, Kodjo pressured Eyadma to hold a free and fair parliamentary election in 1994. In this election, the Action Committee for Renewal (CAR) and the UTD together won an initial majority in the National Assembly,[17][18] the CAR with 36 seats and the UTD with seven;[18] Kodjo himself won a seat from Lom.[19] The CAR and UTD initially agreed to nominate CAR President Yawovi Agboyibo as Prime Minister. However, after the election in three constituencies was cancelled, the two parties lost their narrow majority, and Eyadma invited Kodjo to form a government,[17] announcing his appointment as Prime Minister on April 22, 1994;[14][18] he took office on April 25.[14] The CAR regarded Kodjo's appointment as a violation of the parties' agreement and refused to participate in his government.[17] His acceptance of the position of Prime Minister, in addition to his earlier role in the establishment of the RPT regime, discredited him in the eyes of many opposition supporters.[6] His government was announced on May 25, 1994; it included the RPT, the UTD, and some smaller parties not represented in the National Assembly. Although headed by Kodjo, the composition of the government was strongly dominated by the RPT.[20]

Kodjo served as Prime Minister of Togo until August 20, 1996. He resigned as Prime Minister after the RPT won the elections that were held over again in the constituencies where the results had been annulled, giving the RPT and its allies a parliamentary majority; a new government under Kwassi Klutse of the RPT was formed.[17]

Kodjo subsequently became the leader of a new party, the Patriotic Pan-African Convergence (CPP), which was created in August 1999[24] through the merger of four parties,[24][25] including the UTD.[25] Kodjo ran as the CPP's candidate in the June 2003 presidential election.[25][26] Kodjo criticized Eyadma for not honoring his pledge to step down in the 2003 election and again called for the opposition to put forward a single candidate.[27] During the campaign, the CPP called for a debate on television between Kodjo and Eyadma after the RPT engaged in what the CPP considered personal attacks on Kodjo.[26] In the election, Kodjo received 0.96% of the vote according to official results[28][29] and took fifth place;[28] he denounced the results as fraudulent.[30]

Following the disputed April 2005 presidential election, which occurred shortly after Eyadema's death, Eyadema's son and successor Faure Gnassingb named Kodjo, a representative of the moderate opposition, as Prime Minister again on June 8, 2005, choosing him instead of a candidate from the radical opposition.[29][31] He took office on June 9, succeeding Koffi Sama.[32]

It is not new that politicians always flirt with musicians during election years. This year being an election year, it is predicted that, the flirty nature of the two mentioned above will come into play once again.

Some politicians believe aligning themselves with certain musicians is the surest way of getting votes from fans of those musicians.

The likes of Daddy Lumba, Jewel Ackah, Kwabena Kwabena and Lucky Mensah have all composed songs for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the past. A deal I believe both sides benefited greatly.

Edems Over Again is one of the hottest tunes now. The track appeals to everyone and matches other equally good songs out there now.

For an Ewe rapper who has managed to get many hits including Over Again, he needs commendation and the onus lies on him to protect his career/image and not allow politicians and political parties to take advantage of his hardwork.

In an intro to the song, he said I dont care what they say  but now its time for him to care and pay attention to what is going on. Slowly, he is being moved to politics as cross sections of the public are accusing the rapper of selling the rights of the song to NPP.

Denning Edem Agbeviadey popularly known in the entertainment circles as Edem has at the long run satisfied his fans with the new shoot of his hit song Over Again after his fans heavily criticized his first video and described it as wack

Edem, a hip life artiste is undoubtedly one of the best rappers in the country and to his privilege can rap in his native language Ewe as well Pidgin and English.

Having his fans at heart, formerly Ayibge Edem decided to reshoot his over again video with a new twist and turn to it.

In an interview with Christian Aku Dzifa, an entertainment journalist, Edem is very optimistic that, his fans will embrace his new video which he believes it is of international standard.

I think this video was inspired by the fact that I wanted to let my fans understand that my word is my bond.

we decided to elevate the video and the song in two ways, do a remix of the song, and put it in Jamaican English so that everybody can understand what over again story line is about and then shoot another video for it, he said.

According Edem, his team felt that they needed to get across Africa to get into the hearts and minds of fans who understand English and pidgin to get a vibe with the music.

We are looking at putting Over Again on another level, making people see that we dont want to compromise on quality and the direction that Ghanaian music video have to take, we want to meet the mark that is generally accepted universally, he stated.

Directed by George Gyima of Phamous Philms, Edem stated categorically that, the redo of the video now is to target Africa as well as upcoming video awards.

He however lauded his fans for the criticisms and promised to always come out with the best.

Below is the New Video

Although most patients completely recover within five to seven days, severe re-expansion pulmonary edema can lead to sequestration of large quantities of fluid in the lung, which may result in shock and possibly death.3,4

The government and people of Togo are mourning the death of a former Prime Minister of the West African country, Edem Kodjo. The former diplomat died at the age of 82 in the French capital Paris on Saturday, April 11.

In Togo, Kodjo spent two stints as Prime Minister, the first period from from 1994 to 1996 and again from 2005 to 2006 under former president Gnassingbe Eyadema. He also held a number of ministerial posts years before.

At the time he took over the OUA leadership from Etki Mboumoua, a Cameroonian diplomat reputed as the man who dismantled the Portuguese colonial empire in Africa. Eteki died in October 2016 at the age of 83 in the Cameroonian capital, Yaounde.

I would like to remind all parties, once again, that constant care must be taken to spare civilians and civilian infrastructure. This entails taking all feasible precautions to avoid and minimize civilian harm when planning and deciding on attacks.

Earlier this month, the Government of Syria extended its consent for the United Nations to use the Bab al-Salam and Al Ra'ee crossings to deliver aid from Trkiye for a period of three months, until 13 February 2024.

The approaching winter is already exacerbating the suffering of displaced people, some 3.2 million of whom are located in Government areas. Again as referenced, women and girls, who make up 80 per cent of those in displacement camps and informal sites, continue to bear the brunt of this crisis.

The needle has barely moved since. The plan is only 33 per cent funded. We are grateful again for the generosity of donors, $1.8 billion received out of the $5.4 billion requested. Let me remind the Council that at this time last year we were 44 per cent funded. This time 33 [per cent].

On Mass Production Edem displays his versatility, rapping and toasting in Ewe, English and even Patois over a wide range of beats, from the azonto jam Over Again to the conscious reggae anthem Ghetto Arise. More recently, Edem has released other videos for his latest singles Medekuku and last week Heyba.

ER stress and UPRER malfunctions have been implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration, metabolic and inflammatory diseases as well as tumor progression and diabetes, whereby disturbed ER homeostasis negatively influences the pathology of the disease. Under ER stress conditions, the cells either activate UPRER-dependent cytoprotective mechanisms when ER stress is at subtoxic levels or, in case of an excessive ER stress, the cytotoxic response stimulates cell death. Here, we used Caenorhabditis elegans to study the cellular responses to ER stress at organismal level. We show that EDEMs respond differently to ER stress stimuli, and moreover, EDEMs deficiencies activate an XBP-1 independent adaptive program to promote organism survival under acute ER stress. Corroborated with the fact that loss of EDEM-2 and EDEM-3 induces resistance to acute ER stress in an intact organism, our data implicate EDEM proteins in a broader response to ER stress than previously established, which opens a new avenue for understanding the regulation of ER stress with implications for clinical and therapeutic investigations.

How misfolded proteins from ER are processed and the impact of ERAD disruption in the context of a whole organism is still elusive. In this study we used genetic analysis to investigate the mechanism that links ERAD defects to cellular responses. We specifically investigated the role of EDEM-1, EDEM-2, and EDEM-3 in C. elegans development and aging. We found that loss of EDEM-2 causes pleiotropic defects that are not further aggravated by EDEM-1 and/or EDEM-3 loss under physiological conditions, indicating a major role for EDEM-2 in targeting misfolded proteins for proteasomal degradation under physiological conditions. Moreover, EDEMs respond differently to ER stress stimuli and both EDEM-1 and EDEM-3 functions become evident under acute ER stress. In addition, our data provide the first evidence that preconditioning to edem loss activates a hormetic XBP-1 independent adaptive program that enhances ER stress proteotoxic responses to promote organism survival under acute ER stress. ff782bc1db
