Same thing here! Just dug my old Aria out of storage, and spent a little while cleaning out the corroded battery compartments. Unfortunately got the same error message in the Fitbit app when I went to set it up. I tried opening the Aria scale setup under the phone browser instead, but it instructs you to take a battery out for 10 seconds, replace it, and wait for setup mode to start on the other side. Which does not happen, all I get is "STEP ON".

Welcome to the Community @Marciaheitzman! You should start by checking out these syncing troubleshoots. Make sure that there isn't another bluetooth device that may be creating interference during the process. Setting up your tracker as a new device may also help you to bring it back to sync as usual. If the issue persists, I'd like to know if you can share with the error you're getting.

I haven't used my fitbit for a few months, charged it up and was working fine at first and then I went to update the app on my iPhone and sync the fitbit to the app and noticed it wasn't connecting. I then noticed an error message of some kind that looks like an exclamation point. I've already done some research of what causes this (battery exhaustion, and need to reset the fitbit) I've already let it sit and charge for a few days now on different modes (wall plug in and connected to my computer), I've also tried resetting it too with no luck. Please help!

Charging wise, it is possible your cord to charge your alta is malfunctioning, therefore not charging your fitbit. Syncing wise, were you using a sync dongle to connect your fitbit to your computer wirelessly? One minor thing that is highly unlikely but possible, is when you charged your fitbit for several days, you could have burned it out. According to Fitbit, you should charge your fitbit for 1-2 hours, and it will be fully charged. This issue is very rare, and many people do this without knowing with no issues, so I wouldn't worry. Did the fitbit vibrate when you restarted the fitbit? Occasionally, I will try to restart, press the button 3 times, but too slow or fast, and it doesn't work. You may also want to check and make sure the alta is actually attached to the port on the cord. Sometimes, the alta will attach and look like it is connected but actually not. Hope this helps!

Every time I try to reply to a text message using voice reply it tells me theres a transcription error and won't send. I've tried speaking slowly, clearly, close to the microphone, far away from it.. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it just isn't working properly??

Fast forward to midnight when the Fitbit resets the step counter, and all the other things it keeps track of. Now I'm trying to sync to the phone. I get through the process to the point of entering in the "number i see on your charge" which is the 4 digits. I enter this code and receive the following error:

So far, since trying to trouble shoot this issue, like i stated before I believe this is an internal server error on Fitbit's side and not my own. Going to bed for now, with the fitbit on in hopes that it will still track my sleep even though it's not connected to the app. Maybe the issue will be resolved when I awake. Will provide an update tomorrow. See you in 8+ hours.

Thanks Marco for the reply! So I woke up and immediately tried to sync the device again, not even reading your reply. I got to the point where it asked me for the digits and then it gave me the same exact error. Then I decided to check the forum post, read your reply, and so, here's what I did.

I don't really understand why I'm getting this error as I've connected this device once before to my phone, but then I had to delete my account and start over due to the "stats" issue as previously mentioned. It seems as though there might be an issue with my account itself maybe not letting me connect to the servers? I thought that a reinstall of the Application might have reset it and "deleted the cache" of any previous attempts to connect to the Fitbit Servers.

Seeing how I have worked in the IT field for a while now, I know that an HTTP 500 error is a general internal server error, with no clear definition as to the root of the problem. When building a website, these HTTP 500 errors can be the death of me I swear. So, I asked the T1 CSR to transfer me to a supervisor. This Tier Two Specialist (T2S) took these issues, this forum post, and all the data collected by the T1-CSR and forward them off to the Fitbit Software Engineers. Never thought this issue would go so far as to be looked upon via the Software Engineers, but thats awesome!

I followed these steps outlined in the article and successfully factory reset my Charge. When trying to sync the Charge to my phone I'm still getting the same error. Here are two screenshots showing that I'm using two different data sources (Wifi & Cellular Data) and still running into the same error as before. (You can tell the different in data by the little Wifi/LTE symbol in the top left hand corner of the screen shots)

After following the factory reset, trying the two different data sources, and everything else, I'm still figuring that it might be an issue with Fitbit's servers. I really don't understand how I was able to connect and sync my Fitbit Charge with the previous users "stats" on my account, but then after I had to go through this account deletion process and make a new account suddenly the Fitbit won't sync and I get this HTTP 500 error.

I've created a brand new account, started fresh and still got the same 500 http error... multiple machines, phones, etc... nothing seems to work. Oddly, the flex syncs and tracks, but I want m firmware updated!

yes its a pain, yes this is a major bug, no idk why Fitbit refuses to fix the error, will they ever fix it? Probably not. Like i said, call them. I had to escalate my call to teir 3. Sooooo be ready for the process

I understand some of you are still getting an error when trying to set up or update your Fitbit trackers. At this moment I would like to gather some information from you so I can forward it to our team. Please reply with the following:

I appreciate you have brought this to my attention and for letting me know about the troubleshooting steps you've already tried. At this moment I would like to ask you for a screenshot of the error message you're getting so I can check this further.

I just bought my Charge 5 and I tried to change the clock face. After trying to install for 3 seconds it just said unable to install try again later and now it just says error on my watch clock face and I cannot change it back nor will it let me install a different clock face it just keeps saying unable to install over and over again. I have tried restarting it, deleting user data unlinking it from my fitbit app and no matter what I have tried it just keeps doing it.

got similar issues during these 2 days. the main reason was following the firmware upgrade some apps did need to be updated as well. i tried to change clock and for 7-8 times failed. I then let the fitbit app finishing the processes and solve it. Hope this can help. Definitively the interaction between fitbit app and the device should be improved

Ive tried resetting the app, logging in, logging out. Etc. I see online others are having this issue too. What is fitbit doing about it? I also havent recieved invitations when im talking to the person and watching them send it

I wanted to upload some music on my Versa 2 but when I try to login to the Versa 2 app I get the message "An error occurred, please try again". Email password are fine because I can login to fitbit.com without issue.

Same problem! It used to work last year, but now I bought a Versa 2 when my Ionic stopped working. I went with the Versa 2 because it says it allows you to store your music. But now I can't log into fitbit connect to do that.

Same issue with Ionic - trying to log in to Fitbit connect give "an error occurred, please try again" but I know the account credentials are fine because i can sync, etc. but trying to use Fitbit connect to transfer music gives this error.

Every time I try to reply to a message with voice reply I get a message with transcription error. Started happening after Fitbit account was changed over to Google. There's already an open discussion in Versa 4 forum!! Seems like this is affecting a HUGE amount of devices. Google wallet also not working after account change over. Customer service has offered a refund for my watch which leads me to believe they have no idea when this is going to be fixed.

I have tried all the steps below with no improvement : I restarted my sense 2; I rebooted my phone after forgetting my sense 2, and clearing the cache. I also forgot my sense 2 and added it back as a new device. I think the issue is worn the new update that happened today. Since the, the microphone for voice replies to texts has not worked. I am still able to use the microphone for answering phone calls, just not for answering messages. I hope the folks at fitbit will fix this issue!

This seems to be a problem since my sense 2 updated this morning to its newest operating system. Before that my sense 2 worked fine with voice responses to text messages. I have a pixel 6 pro phone. I wonder how long it will be before enough folks identify it as a problem before fitbit addresses it....?

Hmmm.. I tried signing out of my Google and then signing back in with my fitbit acct to check that out, but fitbit wouldn't allow me to sign back in, except with my Google acct. I think I used voice response to text after the merge and it worked okay, but now I'm not do sure. Maybe the Google acct IS the problem! ff782bc1db
