Has the trim feature been removed in both the new (SharePoint) Stream and tradtional Stream interface?

I discovered this today when attempting to trim a video recorded from a Teams meeting. The trim feature was available recently when video recordings of Teams meetings were accessed in OneDrive.

I agree that this was a vital feature. I used it every single time I worked with meeting recordings that later needed to be published for replay by our workforce. I specifically began meeting recordings with buffer time at the front end, knowing that I had the option to trim the dead space at the beginning as well as the chatter among participants there too. Discovering today that this feature has been removed has created work and a delay for me and leaves me having to download separate software to manage my meeting recordings. It is a step backward.

@Marc Mroz Trimming the front and back ends of a recorded Teams session are my primary uses and would be my first choice (and would restore the prior trim feature that is basic but useful). I completely delete front and back end becuase it's usually banter at the front end before a meeting starts. Back end is usually from forgetting to stop the recording. There are no extra enhancements that I see. Would love to be able to have additional features such as trim within the timeline (other than start and stop) with a transition features. Audio adjustement would also be helpful.

Please bring back the "Trim Video" feature per the reasons below. Meanwhile, is there an alternative solution besides downloading the video to a different application and performing the video trimming there?

It's been a long road for us in the product group to get to a plan for what to do in Stream. We apologize for how long it's taken us. It's not easy for us to just add back the ability that was in Stream (Classic) to SharePoint, the underlying architecture and storage is very different.

Thank you for all the feedback you've shared and all the votes in the ideas forum. We've finally been able to land on a design for a simple trim option directly in Stream. We aren't able to share a timeline or roadmap item yet until we get further on the engineering design and start coding.

Trimming a video clip involves editing or removing the beginning or end of the clip. This is especially useful for video recordings that have dead space at the start or end, such as recorded MS Teams meetings. Trimming is also one of the first steps in learning basic video editing, as the process gets the user familiar with skills and concepts used throughout all video editing. While there are several ways to trim a video, we will focus on some options that are free, ideal, and easily accessible to UIW personnel. In this guide, we'll focus on:

Any video stored in OneDrive or SharePoint plays in Microsoft Stream and can be easily trimmed up to 10 times. This is the most convenient method for trimming meeting recordings, lectures, and casual video content.

Camtasia is a video editing and screen recording tool that is available for free download on macOS and Windows for all UIW faculty and staff. Educators build the program, and it has a user-friendly interface that allows users to easily import video and audio content, trim videos, and export them to upload to Microsoft Stream and other platforms. Camtasia is a great tool for creating professional-looking videos and recordings.

EchoVideo is a service from Echo360 that integrates personal and classroom video capture, student engagement tools, and analytic tools to maximize student participation and engagement for both campus-based and online courses. HPS instructors can use it to edit and trim entire videos after uploading content to their library.

Mac users can use iMovie to trim video content, which comes pre-installed with macOS. If iMovie isn't installed or you are having trouble finding the application, you can download it for free from the Apple App Store. Once content is imported, it can be edited or trimmed.

Stream (on SharePoint) is a new version of Microsoft Stream that allows you to create (maximum 15 minutes recording time), upload, share, and manage videos. No matter how videos were created or how they were shared across Microsoft 365, you can access them. Newer features include external sharing, virtual backgrounds, among several other enhancements. Stream (on SharePoint) is available for all faculty, staff, and registered students.

Stream (on SharePoint) is simple to use and integrates with apps across Microsoft 365. On the Stream start page, you will see all videos stored in OneDrive or SharePoint including videos that were migrated over from Stream Classic. Users will see recently watched videos that they own or those that have been shared. Users can Record videos, Upload (audio or video files), and create a Playlist from the the start page itself, as well as see all media, and search for specific media across Microsoft 365.

You can record a new video from the main page click Screen Recording or Camera Recording. Both methods provide features, viannotation tools and a teleprompter for a script. Note: there is a 15-minute recording limit. After you stop the recording, you can review the clip and playback the video. You will also be able to edit (trim, delete, or add music) the video before processing.

Microsoft Stream on SharePoint doesn't edit your video, the trim feature allows you to hide the parts you trim from viewers. If you don't see the scissors icon on an existing video, this feature is slowing rolling out. Learn more about trimming a video in Stream.

If you recorded your video using Stream, after you stop your recording there are a few different options to edit your video, choose to trim the beginning or end of your video, split your video or add music. If you are not satisfied with your video, you can delete it.

Select the Trim icon or this will open the Trim window (applies to new videos recorded in Stream on SharePoint only). Next, you will notice at the end of your video there are vertical rectangle sliders at each end.

Once the video is seen in Stream on SharePoint (any videos uploaded, recorded from Teams meetings, or created directly in Stream). You must own the video or have edit permissions, you can generate a link to provide viewing access. View the instructions below:

Choose embed code from the Share drop-down menu, only users that have access to recording will be able to access it. Learn more about Embedding Stream content - Microsoft Support. Faculty can use the easy embed tool with EchoVideo inside of a Canvas content type, allows all users access that are enrolled in a Canvas course to playback the video(s). Note: Student view doesn't work with EchoVideo.

Please let me know if there is any way to manipulate this, because On End, On Start, On Pause are not available with Stream control and using Video control or uploading the videos in the App itself is not an option.

Hi,

Just run the App in the Preview Mode.

you can see all the buttons like Play/Pause etc.

there is no control for this coz that video is played through the URL but you have the option for AutoStart.

please Find the Screenshot for reference. Or Hold the ALT Key and Hover the Cursor in Viedo you can see all the Buttons

Would it help to do something like If(OnVisibleVariable,"Streamlink","") on the stream-link parameter?.

So when it's not visible you cut the link to the video, and in practical terms, you stop it too. This stops the streaming video sounding on the back even though is not visible.

If your intention is to just stop (not pause) the video, you can stop the video by conditionally changing the "streamurl" property and pointing it to an empty video (with a thumbnail) . For instance you can make the video stop playing when the control is not visible with the following).

My company provides energy monitoring services. We will like to develop a dashboard that shows energy usage metrics - made available to each client. The client has no editing rights - we are just using the dashboards as a reporting service. All the clients will be external to our domain, of course.

Our problem is how to share the dashboards - Our dashboards will be streaming realtime info so we need a pro account. Seems PowerBI requires each client to register for a Pro account to just access and read these dashboards? That won't work for us. 152ee80cbc
