Hi there, @EmaSullivan! With your Ring devices working as intended while the mobile device is connected to wifi, this is a great sign that your Ring devices and Ring app are communicating properly. Please ensure there is no VPN enabled on your mobile device.

I've been using the R7000 router for about 4 mos and it's been working great until yesterday. My home network is all wifi. I have a 2.4g network, a 5g network, and a 2.4g guest network. All of a sudden, the only one I can access is the guest network. The others don't show as a choice on any of my PCs, or smart devices. The 2.4 and 5g lights are off on the front of the router. I can connect by ethernet. All my PCs react the same. Two are win 7, one win 8, and one win 10. The smart devices are both apple and android.

I have 3 Nest Wifi access points. These also act as a Smart Speakers (like a Google Home). I bought the Nest Wifi Pro. Is there a way to use these as a smart speaker only and not an Access point? I understand that the Pro is not backwards compatible, but are they essentially bricks on my new network? I was hoping they can be used as smart speakers only.

This is correct. It throws an error saying it can't connect to the router and gives no option to connect as only a speaker. So sad, I have 3 of these things and they work great as little Google Home devices!

I spoke with a rep by phone from Google today who said they think it would only be able to connect as a wifi point, according to the documentation, and would not work with the wifi pro. Something about the speaker being the secondary feature and not being able to connect if it can't connect as a mesh device. I read the couple of posts stating that people had success on other router brands to use them as speaker only, but no mention of someone having success using them as speakers with a wifi pro setup yet. They said in theory it could possibly be done, but I would just have to try for myself. I am hesitant to take the step up to the Pro for that reason since the current setup is really great for using google assistant, especially with kiddos in the house. The rep finished the conversation by saying I would have to try and see since they really didn't know. Seems a shame to have to dish out that kind of money just to trial and error.

My company is starting to move WiFi only work spaces and offices. Cabling is only being pulled for printers, WAPs, and a few guest work stations as requested. We are using Meraki access points, and normally have about 1 AP per 10 to 15 people. Each office is subnetted to separate WiFi from other services. Is this becoming a common thing for small to medium offices? Have you guys come across any hurdles for these type of environments?

Ended up trying out the eero 6 mesh system to (i) help with the Sonos issue and (ii) to help with wifi in the house for all the other devices. Everything has been working much better than before. However, I do sometimes get a brief pause on some of the devices (e.g., the bedroom Sonos Play:1) which happens every so often - once every ~2 hours of play time. Any ideas of why that may be?

Hi all - tried a few things including plugging in the Play:5 to the router to use SonosNet. Unfortunately, that made the connecting in the bedroom worse. Ended up unplugging it and going back to just the eero wifi. Works ok but I do get the occasional drop in signal.

Using Wyze Cam Pan with Android. I get notifications only when connected to WiFi or data. I have read other posts and think I have everything configured right and am up to date on firmware. Any suggestions or is this going to be fixed?

However, you can easily create a rule via IFTTT that will send you an SMS message if whatever condition you specify is met. Example: If motion is detected on Camera, send text to (XXX) XXX-XXXX. I believe IFTTT only allows for 100 SMS messages a month, but it may be worth checking into.

I'm wondering if it's smart to get an iPad with wifi and cellular or if I should get wifi only. I'm in a band and plan on using the iPad instead of sheet music. I don't want to spend extra $ if it's not necessary.

Will you need GPS or the ability to independently use the internet without a wifi connection or hotspot? If the answer to any of that is yes, then you need the GPS+Cellular model. If the answer to all of it is no, then the WiFi only model will be just fine.

If you can remote into the Raspi (while the Ethernet cable is attached if that's the only way), then run an ifconfig so that we can see what IP address(es) are bound to what. en0 should be the Ethernet adapter and wlan0 should be the wifi.

But we're hearing from others with Stretch/OctoPi that they're not connecting to wifi. I've perused many different forums and the Raspbian forum itself suggests that the /boot wpa-supplicant file must have the correct country code for the driver stack to load. In another place, it is suggested that the wlan0 stack won't load by default in Stretch because they forgot to add the line in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf in the distro:

I bought Eero 6 (triple pack router) few weeks ago. Initially, setup was easy, after installing the gateway, i set up the other 2 routers using the ethernet cables in each room not to lose speed. It was working perfectly until yesterday. Few days ago, the routers updated the latest software. After that, it changed the gateway from one room to another (for no reason). That was still ok and manageable for me, however, somehow i lost the wired connection on the other 2 routers (AP). It is now only connecting through wifi, these 2 routers are just not accepting the ethernet cable at all and i am losing more than 90% of my internet speed because of the forced wi-fi. I tried a looooot of things. I hard reset all the routers, i reset the network, i tried to switch all the cables and the routers and tried to install from scratch. When I re-do the installation of the network, i first connect the first router as gateway, the wired connection is OK in this. When i try to connect the second router, (if i have cable plugged in), the router doesnt get detected so i cannot connect, and i cannot even complete the setup. The moment i remove the ethernet cable from the second router, the installation goes smoothly via wi-fi. That is the same case for my third router too. Because of this, i used to get 750mbps/800mbps internet speeds in all the rooms, now i barely get 30-40mbps. Will you please help to get the issue fixed? I need to use the ethernet cable function for all the 3 routers and that is the reason i bought the eero or else i could have just got few basic repeater. Will you please help me with a solution? Software version is : V6.12.1.-54. Model number is N010011.

Would it be possible to offer DHCP only to Wifi clients, but not on the wired LAN ports? That is, if someone plugs a cable into the router's LAN port, which is configured with a static address, must also configure a static IP on the device to access the internet through the router.

While you can disable DHCP for a given interface, your wired lan and your wifi are bridged, so disabling it on the lan interface will also disable it on the wifi radio interface. You appear to be creating a problem where there is none?

EDIT: only in ipv6 do we get the notion of router advertisements. An ipv4 DHCP server does not advertise. In ipv4, the client will broadcast a DHCPDISCOVER message to find the DHCP server, which will reply with a DHCPOFFER offering up an IP address. The client then replies with a DHCPREQUEST message to accept the offer. The server then sends a DHCPACK to complete the negotiation. So if your client is not sending a DHCPDISCOVER, which it won't in the case of a static ip configuration, you won't get any DHCP traffic between the wired client and the DHCP server

So if I understand it correctly, your problem isn't actually "advertisement" per se. It's that you're setting up your clients for DHCP and thus if they're connected to both wifi and LAN, they request and get two IP addresses.

The point is to prevent a random someone from plugging a device into a wall socket and automatically get an IP address from the router that allows LAN connectivity. It's more of a "security requirement". We want them to only get an IP address if they connect to WiFi, which is something we can control with a password.

Some notifications arent loading up and only do so when the phone is connected to wifi. I'll spend a whole day driving around etc using my data to stream stuff however i'll get home and suddenly 10 ebay notifications load up.

And I live in a building with 20+ networks, as you can see from WiFi Analyzer (I'm the red one on the right)

If I deactive/reactive Wifi with fn+f12, it goes to Airplane mode and to Wifi mode again and it eventually shows all the networks:

My Wifi is on the top. If it's saved, Windows connects to it and then it drops the connection; if it's not saved and I try to connect, it says "You're not able to connect to this network".

The fun fact is that after some seconds every network disappear and only one is showed (probably the neighbour one..I dunno).

I've already tried to HARD-RESET the notebook keeping the power button for 10/15sec with the laptop turned off.

I've already tried to follow these instructions ( -en/document/c04649175) updating drivers (Intel 18.12.0.3, 18.12.1.2, 18.30.0.9 [Windows 10 default], 18.32.0 [Lastest drivers]) with no success. Everytime I install a new drivers, I uninstalled the previous one + Wireless software + reboot.

I tried to uncheked "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" on my Wifi hardware settings without success.

The HP Network support says I didn't choose a Wifi (Really? The problem is I don't see my Wifi on the list!). 2351a5e196
