The circular arrows over the OneDrive or OneDrive for work or school notification icons signify that sync is in progress. This includes when you are uploading files, or OneDrive is syncing new files from the cloud to your PC.

If you see a yellow warning triangle over your OneDrive or OneDrive for work or school icon, it means your account needs attention. Select the icon to see the warning message displayed in the activity center.

If you see a "people" icon next to your OneDrive files or folders, this indicates the file or folder has been shared with other people. If there's a line under the sharing icon, it means that the file is on the device.

I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me with this issue that i'm having. I'm trying to access my OneDrive settings because my folders are not syncing. So that i can synchronize them, i know i have to go to my OneDrive settings. When i right click on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar, there is no "settings" option that comes up, which is really weird because i have seen it there before and i know that it should be there.

1. Restart OneDrive:

- Right-click on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar tray.

- Select "Close OneDrive" or "Exit" to completely shut down the OneDrive application.

- Wait for a few moments and then relaunch OneDrive by searching for it in the Start menu or finding it in the program list.

- Check if the problem persists after restarting OneDrive.



2. Reset OneDrive:

- Press the "Windows" key + "R" to open the Run dialog box.

- Enter "%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset" (without quotes) in the Run dialog box and press Enter.

- Allow OneDrive to reset, which may take a few minutes.

- Once the reset is complete, check if the issue is resolved.

I have had the OneDrive icon open for years on both the Dock and the Menu Bar. If I open OneDrive from the Dock, or from Applications, it goes immediately to the folder settings, and does not give one a menu for accessing Preferences, etc.

The problem was a function of the number of items shown on the Menu Bar. By going to Settings and reducing the number of icons shown (max is 15, I believe), the icon automatically appeared in the Menu Bar. Thanks for your response, regardless.

I uninstalled OneDrive, downloaded the newest version from Microsoft, and reinstalled. I'm still seeing the overlay icons (out of sync with Status column), both in Dopus and in File Explorer. Any other ideas ? So there are no longer supposed to be status overlays with OneDrive, even in native explorer ?

As in current recommended answer mentioned, you need to sort the entries of the overlay identifiers in the registry. I haven't deleted those OneDrive or GoogleDrive entries but renamed all Tortoise Folders by adding 3 spaces to bring them on top. Just restart and even with Tortoise SVN client 1.7.9 you'll see your SVN overlay icons under Windows 10 again.

There is a Tortoise setting that determines which Drive Types the icons are used with: Drives A: and B:, Removable drives, Network drives, Fixed drives, CD-ROM, RAM drives, and Unknown drives.

As others have indicated, the overlay icon registry area is congested. Here is a powershell script that allows you to dump all the overlays in the registry to a file, then after you edit the file to prioritize your overlays the way you want, you can import them back in and protect them against further modifications from other programs running under SYSTEM.

MS File Explorer now shows the status of files through icons in OneDrive within a separate STATUS Column. I added the STATUS column to my DOPUS 12 Lister but no icons appear. Note that they appear in File Explorer.

I guess this request will show up quite a bit in the near future. I certainly arrived to the forum after years of using DO "silently", just to find out how to be able to see the relevant status icons after Windows updated today.

I do find the new OneDrive workflow to be very nice, the only unpleasant thing about it being lack of support in DOpus right now.

Technically it is the same client. There are just different folders.

The same client (OneDrive.exe) cache locally the OneDrive folder (the consumer one), the OneDrive for Business folder (the "home folder" in Office 365), and multiples SharePoint folders (the "Team Folder"). OneDrive Folder Type format should be applied by default to all of them, and, of course, Status icon and Availability columns should have the correct values.

Hi Nancy, I finally worked it out. It is definitely a Onedrive icon. Disabling Onedrive was not enough to get rid of the icon on the files. I had to actually uninstall it and do a restart. The icon on my files is now gone.
