This is an entertaining South African take on the modern-day cop action movie. iNumber Number: Jozi Gold uses a fair number of conventions and clichs of action movies -- the dynamic of the "loose cannon" cop paired with his straitlaced opposite being the most obvious -- but in spite of this, what emerges is a story that explores the idea of how what's right isn't always what's enforced by law and the system, especially in post-apartheid South Africa.
'iNumber Number: Jozi Gold,' a reboot of the award-winning original film, was premiered on Netflix last Friday, June 23. It quickly climbed to the number two spot on the Netflix Top 10 Movies chart. The film was made with the same team from the first iteration, adding to its anticipation.
