From my iPhone application I'm outputting data from text to a file. When opened with windows notepad, the data is all on one line and where there should be a new line a block character is present (showing that it's an unrecognized character or something). When opened with windows wordpad, it displays just fine.

Would there be something wrong in my code? I'm simply output '\n' when i want a new line.

Microsoft recently (October 2018) announced that Notepad has been fixed in Windows 10 version 1809 so updating your system to windows 10 should resolve this issue (Windows versions before 1809 are impacted)

This new Find window seems to have been introduced with the latestWindows 11 update. I agree that the implementation is very badlydesigned with this window being placed always in the middle ofthe notepad window.

[update] i finally caved in and permanently disabled driver signature enforcement. works great now! make sure to run soundcraftUSBDfu.exe ('fu' also = firmware update) in the driver package to stop it from going to sleep after every 900ms(!) of inactivity

I did get fast help from Harman support, issue solved by following instructions:

Sometimes you need to disable Driver Signature Enforcement in windows 10 for our driver to install. Here is a link that explains how to do so.

Winkey+R is probably the most used command on my computer. I can start any program from it without leaving the mouse. Great little feature. I know I can pull up the calculator, notepad and other little accessories with it faster than someone with a mouse can. But then again I also type about 100 words a minute as well.

Regarding Notepad search, you say when you search nothing happens. What do you do after you press enter after typing a search. You are still in search and you must press escape to leave search and return to notepad, where you can then move around as usual. When you do that, are you where you want to be?

XML Notepad is the result of a promise Chris Lovett made to a friend at Microsoft. The original XMLNotepad shipped in back in 1998, written by Murray Low in C++. Later on it fell behind in supportfor XML standards and, because we didn't have time to fix it, we pulled the downloader. But Murrayapparently did such a nice job that MSDN was inundated with requests to put the notepad back up, sothey asked for a replacement.

If you upgraded windows and saved the old copy of windows, Then the new windows created windows.old and uses rootkit techniques to protect the files. If you ran rootkit scan on this directory then this can cause fps. If you plan on keeping the backup copy of windows then i would just add it to exclusions in malwarebytes. Nothing can write there anyways.

If you only want to view the data then something like WordPad (that usually comes with Windows) is a quick workaround & will read the LF as a new line. Things like notepad do not, for those you need LF and CR.

Sure, I no longer edit my AUTOEXEC.BAT file in it - mainly because it was a DOS loader that doesn't exist in Windows today. Still, I find Notepad important for quickly taking notes. If for some reason, I didn't launch Microsoft Word but want to jot down some thoughts or meeting notes, I like to pull up Notepad, which still launches more quickly than any other app on my Windows 11 system. Even if I have five or more Notepad windows open, the load on Windows 11 is minimal. That might not be the case with Word or another word processor app.

There's also a dark theme setting, which is like a throwback to the original DOS interface, and CRT-screen programming platforms. I still prefer the light mode, which I think better reflects the notepad theme. I mean, look at the app icon, it's a notepad, not a computer screen.

Notepad is a simpler app from a simpler time, which is probably why I'm so glad it's still part of the ever-changing Windows platform. Microsoft has done a lot in Windows 11 to refresh the aging OS, including shifting the start menu and taskbar to the middle. It's overhauled all the windows, app icons, and even File Manager.

I am not great with VBA and hoping someone can help. I have written a payroll program that runs in Excel. Everything was fine until I upgraded to windows 11 and ended up with a new version of Notepad. I've uninstalled the new Notepad and tracked down the old version in the Windows\System32 directory. The following code is used to generate the journal entries for import into Sage50. The old code which worked fine until Win11 is:

I am not a VBA expert but I too copy the data from excel and paste the data to notepad with the help of a code shared online. I can share the code which works for me but can't explain more. Edit the code as per your sheet name, define the varialbes and check it out. Hope it helps.

I am using windows 10. I have created this app with the above lines included and it is compatible in all versions of excel. Windows 11 no idea. I have used the same code in more than 20 applications and it has never given me any problem.

Questions about how to use notepad.exe as a programming tool are on-topic. It happens to be a horrible editor, but we don't ban questions about a certain tool from the site just because the tool is bad. For example we also allow questions about Eclipse.

Postable windows have a Post button to post the window. Clicking on thePost button hides the window and adds its controls to a new tab in thenotepad area. Posting windows allows you to have several windows active atthe same time without cluttering the screen. When a window is posted, itsPost button turns to an UnPost button that, when clicked, removesthe posted window from the Notepad area and displays the window in itsown window. Figure 1.5 shows an example of awindow with a Post button and also shows the same window when it isposted to the notepad area. 2351a5e196
