This is the first nonstop service to connect France and Rwanda. RwandAir plans to use its newly delivered Airbus A330-300 aircraft on the route, with the service being offered three times a week. The Kigali-Paris flight is 8 hours and 50 minutes in length while the Paris-Kigali flight is 8 hours and 30 minutes long.

Rwanda is the fifth country in East Africa to offer nonstop flights to France. Passengers are also able to fly directly between Paris and the following destinations in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania:

RwandAir has grown rapidly in recent years through the acquisition of new aircraft and the launch of nonstop flights to new destinations. The airline's fleet consists of one Airbus A330-300, two Airbus A330-200s, one Boeing 737-700, four Boeing 737-800s, two Bombardier CRJ900ERs, and two De Havilland Dash 8-400s.

Passengers flying on RwandAir have access to destinations across six continents through Qatar Airways' hub at Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha. RwandAir launched nonstop flights between Kigali and Doha in December 2021.

It is not yet established whether the new routes are going to be nonstop flights given that for example there are over 7,000 miles between Kigali and New York and if it is true, it may be the reason why there were suggestions that RwandAir acquire an A350 to operate the route. There are questions whether their existing A330s have the range to operate that route on a nonstop basis.

RwandAir conducted its first nonstop flight between Kigali Airport and London Heathrow today. The flag carrier of Rwanda's Airbus A330 landed in London at 07:17 after a flight duration of eight hours and 40 minutes.

Serving around 30 destinations across 22 nations throughout four continents, RwandAIr is continuing to expand its presence across the aviation spectrum. In Europe, the operator heads to the likes of Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. Adding more nonstop links will prove to be valuable in this next chapter of post-downturn international recovery.

Africa air fare. SkyTeam, the 15-member airline alliance that includes Air France, KLM and Delta, recently launched the Go Africa Pass, which saves travelers up to 75 percent on flights within Africa. Flights are on Kenya Airways, which serves 45 destinations in 36 countries, including Johannesburg; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and Cairo. To qualify for the pass, you must book international air to Africa through a SkyTeam member and reserve your first flight within Africa at least three days before your international departure. Also required: a minimum of three flight coupons (or flight segments) and a maximum of 16. Fares are based on the number of miles flown nonstop. For example, with the pass, pay $1,041, including taxes, to fly from Johannesburg to Nairobi to Kigali, Rwanda, to Bujumbura, Burundi; the usual fare is $1,683.
