I'm using a server that is running CentOS 9 and I'm having issue compiling something that uses libncurses.so.5.

I installed the ncurses-devel package, but it is in version 6, and isn't found by the compiler.

I saw that on CentOS 8, it is possible to install ncurses-compat-libs for that purpose, bit it doesn't seem to be available for CentOS 9.

Is there a way to either install ncurses-compat-libs in CentOS 9, or to install the library through another mean?

i can confirm that installing the ncurses-compat-libs for FC37 is allowing local to work now. Note that this should not close this issue as Fedora has clearly warned everyone now that this package will be going away so local needs to have this dependency removed and use the newer ncurses libraries.

Local has a dependency on that package at the moment because the MySQL Generic Linux binary from mysql.com is linked to libncurses 5. I checked to see if we could correct this by updating the MySQL versions that Local makes available, but the latest MySQL (8.0.31) is still linked to libncurses 5 (screenshot below). Once that updates to link libncurses 6 or newer, Local could remove its dependency on ncurses-compat-libs (which provides libncurses 5).

The post reinstating ncurses-compat-libs suggests the package should be supported until at least Fedora 40, which is scheduled for release on 2024-04-16, giving MySQL some time to update its linked libraries. If that does not happen the Local team could look into compiling MySQL manually for Linux, shipping different binaries or missing libraries for each flavor of Linux, or providing another workaround.

On some Oracle Linux 8.x and RedHat 8.x systems, you must install the ncurses-compat-libs package (sudo yum install ncurses-compat-libs). Otherwise, cursor-based command recall and editing does not work in ttIsql.

TimesTen restricts access to the installation and the instances created from that installation to members of a single operating system group. This group, called the TimesTen users group, owns the installation and the instances created from the installation. Create this group (for example, timesten) and add the desired operating system users prior to installation. Once you create the TimesTen users group, you cannot change the name of the group or the group ID. See Create the TimesTen Users Group and the Operating System User.

The instance administrator for all instances in your grid is the operating system user who creates the active management instance. This user then becomes the instance administrator of all other instances in TimesTen Scaleout, including the second management instance and all data instances.

The instance administrator configures the grid, creates and manages the databases in the grid, starts and stops the databases in the grid, performs all management activities, and performs backup and restore operations.

The instance administrator's user name and UID, and the group name and the group id (GID) of the TimesTen users group must be the same on all hosts in the grid, including the hosts on which the management and data instances exist, as well as any of the SCP repository hosts.

I've gone through several suggestions mainly dealing with linking the file name (soft link). Linking to libtinfo.so.5.9 doesn't work. Linking to libncursesw.5.9 doesn't work. I tried installing ncurses5-compat-libs but it does not exist in my repos. ncurses-compat-libs is installed. I don't know what to try next.

Right track, wrong line! The installed version of Arduino is 64 bit and therefore uses the library directory /lib64. That is were currently we need to create the link. Use this as root in a terminal 152ee80cbc
