Looking for some help here. How do I use my iPhone to start playing music/control songs directly from the native appleTV music app - as opposed to streaming a song via airplay from my iPhone to appleTV?

If I get Sonos, I would I be able to stream to Sonos directly from the Apple Music app? And can I stream from the AirPlay/AirDrop button in the drop down menu of my iPhone near the battery at the top right?

So - you seriously are able to play a song and then your iXpand goes ahead and plays the next song without you having to do anything? Maybe we put the music on the sandisk the wrong way? Are you playing the music right from iXpand or are you playing it via itunes, sound cloud or something else? Because that is the other thing, we want to not have to be connected to the internet to play.

when you view the music files are you just selecting view files from the menu? If so that is the files view. Once there select the music icon st the top of the list to go into music view. from here you can brows by song, artist, etc. go to the song list for example and play a song and it will continue to the next one after it is finished.

Some of you, particularly of my generation, may recognize the characteristic rhythm guitar and harmony of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall." But you haven't heard it like this before. No one has heard any song like this before because this is the first song reconstructed from the electrical signals in a patient's brain.

To investigate the way the brain processes music, researchers, led by Ludovic Bellier at UC Berkley, examined 29 patients undergoing neurosurgery. Their results appear in a new paper in PLOS Biology.

The patients, who were conscious during the operation, had about 300 electrodes placed directly on the surface of the brain. And then they listened to that all-time classic of rock opera, "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 1)."

The fact that researchers could reconstruct the song from the electrodes is clearly the coolest part of the study, but it wasn't really its purpose. Rather, it was to identify the regions of the cortex of the brain that process music and the components of music.

The researchers then took the signals from those 300-plus electrodes, and through a combination of machine-learning techniques they developed a model that would generate a spectrogram from the electrical signals. That spectrogram could then be translated back to audio, and you get, well, you get this:

They also found that electrodes on the right side of the brain contribute more to the model than those on the left. Digging into this a bit, it turns out that music is encoded bilaterally, but the information in the left hemisphere is redundant with that on the right. The right encodes extra stuff that isn't present on the left. I'm probably reading too much into this, but part of me thinks this might reflect the emotional response to music that is unique compared with ordinary speech.

The Sonos integration with music apps is so terrible. We had Spotify. Since Spotify doesn't integrate directly with the Sonos app, we had to play our music through the Spotify app, which was cumbersome to select speakers, change speakers, etc. through our phones. Then we got a "smart" Sonos speaker, and decided to switch to Apple Music so we could use the voice controls. We absolutely can not control our Sonos speakers through the Apple Music app (why, why, why?), so we need to use the Sonos app, which "integrates" with our Apple Music account. Here's our problem: In the Sonos app, we select an artist and only see albums. So, if we search for "The Beatles," we can't just play the top tracks, which is the first category in the Apple Music (and Spotify) app; we must select an album or individual songs off of individual albums. We often do listen to albums, but when we want to pull up a new artist, we know nothing about their albums - we just want the top tracks. Why doesn't Sonos mirror the Apple Music options, including top tracks? We're honestly considering selling all of our Sonos equipment and trying something different. I've spent hours researching this problem, and everybody seems to have this problem. It's a really bad sign to us that two mainstream music apps can't play music easily on our extensive Sonos system (sound bar, sub, ten individual speakers). So disappointing; what year is it?

I am struggling with finding best solution to play my music files stored on my OMV server to the DAC interface connected to the server via usb port. My OMV server is custom build. I am storing music on the connected hard drive with SMB share enabled.

I've added user1 user to the OMV with users, tag_hash_108docker and tag_hash_109audio privileges. Then I created a new user user1tag_hash_110 directly in Airsonic as a copy of admin user. Still no sound when Airsonic is set to Java Jukebox with PulseAudio Mixer as device set. However I made a temporary (it is restored after server restart) privileges change to the /dev/snd directory with command chmod 777 /dev/snd and chmod 777 /dev/snd/* and after restarting airsonic container, when logged in again as airsonic user, for Java Jukebox setting there are additional devices available to set instead of only PulseAudio Mixer:

After restarting the machine with iFi plugged in, in Airsonic I've selected Audio [plughw: 1,0], then I restarted the Airsonic container and after logging it music is finally playing.

Maybe the shell option for this user need to be other than /bin/bash which is default for newly created user in OMV? Even if I set root privileges for this user - devices are not showing up in Airsonic.

When I am trying to play music using PulseMixer, below exception appears in Airsonic logs:

Did not Soma shared privileges from his setup? If so, these are standard privileges. I have only changed it in the way described above and it still looks like in his post - root user with audio group.

In the CRB proceeding that was held in 2005-2006 (and from which, most of the settlements arose that now govern the royalties for sound recordings played by Internet radio stations), SoundExchange relied on a number of witnesses, including one expert, Michael Pelcovits, an economist whose model was the principal testimony relied on by the CRB in establishing the rates they determined to be reasonable. In his written testimony, Mr. Pelcovits stated as follows:

In establishing the statutory royalty, Congress envisioned that the CRB would base its decision on the rates set by the marketplace for similar rights. In previous cases, because there were no freely negotiated marketplace rates (except for those recently done under the WSA and deemed "precedential"), the Copyright Royalty Judges had to rely on economic analysis of royalty schemes for other types of service and to come up with proper "adjustment factors" so as to determine the hypothetical rate that would be negotiated had these parties been negotiating rates for noninteractive webcasting. Obviously, this is an inexact science, and has led to some results that many have argued are too high (though, as the SoundExchange press release indicates, some in the music community believe that the rates are too low). Having freely negotiated rates may well provide some "real" basis for determining what a willing buyer and willing seller really would pay for music in a real marketplace. But we will see if any such rates can in fact be negotiated by Sirius or any of the other parties that have attempted such negotiations.

The band consist of several handpicked members from some of the greatest ABBA tribute acts. Other productions out there are watered down with constant cast changes. Ours is not. We will have the best and most consistent product that features many of the familiar faces that have played your stages over the years.

ABBA is the greatest pop group of all time, only compared to Elvis and The Beatles. ABBA started in 1971 and ended as a group in 1982. Their music continues to be passed on from generation to generation and are loved by the whole world.

My name is Clement Caillat, and I'm currently developing an app that plays a random song when shaked. That part works fine, however I've add trouble trying to play music from the external SD card on my phone. After spending an entire night on it, I've concluded that the best way is to make a temporary copy of the song selected from the external SD card to the internal storage, because the "Player" function seems unable to play music files from the external SD card. I tried using the "Taifun File" extension to do so, but although it allows me to list mp3 files from my external SD card, there doesn't seem to be a block that will allow me to copy files from said external SD card. Or maybe I programmed it wrong. Below here is a screenshot of the relevant part of my code. By the way, my phone is a LG33L with Android 5.0.1.
