Instead of using the old-school method of syncing everything, you can choose the method which shows your Drive as a mounted Drive Letter, and you can copy from it as if it's a local or network drive (just limited by your internet speed).

Allow editing lets people who are signed in with a Microsoft Account edit the files or folders they have access to. If you're sharing a folder, people with Edit permissions can copy, move, edit, rename, share, and delete anything in the folder they have access to. Unchecking this box means that people can view, copy, or download your items without signing in. They can also forward the link to other people. However, they cannot make changes to the version on your OneDrive.

I am looking to 'batch' download files from a particular google drive sub-directory. jennybryan has a great reprex and explanation. This will download all files to the current working directory. I want to sequester the downloads to temporary directory which is recycled at sessions end.

I haven't run any code, but I suspect you need to make a vector of full paths for the output files, e.g. like TEMPDIR/filename, then use walk2(csv_files$id, my_new_files, ~ drive_download(as_id(.x), path = .y overwrite = TRUE)) (treat that as pseudo-code).

Permission lists for a folder propagate downward, and all child files andfolders inherit permissions from the parent. Whenever permissions or thehierarchy is changed, the propagation occurs recursively through all nestedfolders. For example, if a file exists in a folder and that folder is then movedwithin another folder, the permissions on the new folder propagate to the file.If the new folder grants the user of the file a new role, such as "writer," itoverrides their old role.

Inherited permissions can't be removed from a file or folder in a shared drive.Instead these permissions must be adjusted on the direct or indirect parent fromwhich they were inherited. Inherited permissions can be removed from items under"My Drive" or "Shared with me."

You can grant permissions on individual files or folders in a shared drive evenif the user or group is already a member. For example, Alex has role=commenteras part of their membership to a shared drive. However, your app can grant Alexrole=writer for a file in a shared drive. In this case, because the new roleis more permissive than the role granted through their membership, the newpermission becomes the effective role for the file or folder.

Ownership of files existing in "My Drive" can be transferred fromone Google Workspace account to another account in the same organization. An organization that owns a shareddrive owns the files within it. Therefore, ownership transfers are not supportedfor files and folders in shared drives. Organizers of a shared drive can moveitems from that shared drive and into their own "My Drive" whichtransfers the ownership to them.

Ownership of files can be transferred between one consumer account to another. However, Drive doesn't transfer ownership of a file between twoconsumeraccounts until the prospective new owner explicitly consents to the transfer. To transferfile ownership from one consumer account to another:

I have created an API for sending letters. My letters are on google drive. I have created an API that uses my pdf files saved on a google drive account. So the API has a loop according to a number of letters. If I have 1000 records API will take 1000 files from google drive for every record already saved in a specific folder. I'm not using any API for downloading files from google drive. I'm using this link for getting files =FILE_ID&format=pdf or =FILE_ID&authuser=0&export=download

Your administrator defines the maximum actions that shared link recipients can take separately for files, folders, and Box Notes and also defines the default choice for each when more than one choice is made available.

You can set the link options on individual files and/or folders by the owner, across all owned content, or by the admin for the entire company. Also, verify that the setting you choose allows file access to the person with whom you are sharing it. Otherwise, your intended recipient receives an error when they click on the link.

Finally, you can remove or cancel a shared link. To do this, from the Share window, click the Share Link slider to move it to the left. The slider color changes from blue to grey.

Does anyone know is there a way to copy ALL of my Illustrator, InDesign, PDF and image files to an external drive from an external drive, so that when another person opens an .ai file, in the second drive, the links are found?

I have a Google Form where there are multiple instances where a user will upload 1-10 photos per instance. When the zap triggers I am having difficulty getting those photos relocated to specific folders in Google Drive. It creates a zip file however the photos are not contained in the zip file, just long text files. What can I do to fix this?

Hi over the last few days I have made an attempt to try and lock down Google Drive as much as possible so that my end users will only be able to browse and view all files in drive using Google Workspace. However I noticed there isn't any sort of way to disable users downloading any files after they are shared even as an admin. I would've hoped this feature would be a thing by now but it is still not. In my present situation I am trying to allow end users to view already shared Google drive links (these files were not shared by me however I cannot altar them because the links are tied to a custom app that I do not have access to edit).

The reason why I want this kind of feature is because these specific end users will be viewing very sensitive files that shouldn't be able to be downloaded however to my dismay there isn't a way to disable users being able to download files through drive in general which is nothing short of disappointing. This brings me back to my initial question of will there ever be a way to disable downloads for all files on drive or just a way to lock down Google Drive in general so that it can be used solely for file viewing?

I created an assignment on Canvas. This assignment will involve them submitting 4 files from their Google Drive. Will they be able to do so using the Submit Online method? I looked at the student directions here and cannot tell if multiple Google files can be added to one assignment. -10472-4212344077#comments

Thanks for posting your question on the Canvas guides. When the Google Drive or Google Doc tabs are used to upload a submission, only 1 file can be uploaded. However, if those files are added to the student's Canvas files or saved to their computer, they can use the File Upload tab to upload multiple files to an assignment.
